Re: @ people who find a lot of mysterious camel figurines
I guess it would be possible to do it without NPC scan but you'd definitely need nameplates turned on. The suckers are smaller than rats in the game. Without knowing the exact location of each point (and I don't know of anyone collecting precise data like the way they did for TLPD) you could go right by without seeing it.
Also real and fake camels do not necessarily spawn on the exact same spot - I believe there's a spot for fake and another a few yards away for real.
I don't believe /target macros work on the figurine as of 4.1, according to folks on wowhead, but I can't confirm that (I had it in a macro, I don't think I ever clicked it).

Yes, with nameplates on it looks just like the screenshot from Varethyn on page 2 of this thread, otherwise the green text above does not appear.
Re: @ people who find a lot of mysterious camel figurines
After 1 month of searching, I am now the proud owner of a Grey Riding Camel!
During the time I spent searching, I must have completed 100's of laps of Uldum. In total, I saw 15 Mysterious Camel Figurines. 2 of which were real. One of which I narrowly missed and had to witness a druid from the other faction claiming (This is one of those brutal moments in the game where you are overwhelmed with emotion... It happened about 3 weeks in and just after my 12th Crumbled Status Remnants....). The real one that I actually got myself took place at work while playing on my laptop! Haha... During my lunch break I decided to log on and do a lap, thank god I did. I found it in a location I had experienced before but previously with a fake.
Some handy hints/observations:
- Try and get to know the other Camel hunters
- Knowing when one was last obtained will save you some time searching.
- The 6hour minimum spawn timer is accurate. I witnessed multiple spawns shortly after the 6hour mark had hit (but often it took many more hours)
- The most statues I got in 1 day was 2
- I never witnessed more than 2 spawns per day
- NEVER, NOT ONCE did a figurine appear on the eastern side of the map!!!!!!! TAKE NOTE.
- I was also in contact with a hunter from the opposite faction who also searched daily for the camel. Between the two of us, our combined total of camel figurines obtained was 28. None of these were from the East side of the map!!! Yes, we did include this side in our searches but not once did we find one over there....
- My friend is no longer searching that side of the map and I think it is a wise idea to only search the West wide of the map.
- Fly low, I have a decent connection 260ms World and 160ms Home and yet there were a few occasions where it wasnt until I was right near the figurine that my scanner went off.
- I had a lot of success in the middle of the day and late at night. Try and be random with your searching and try to include times when the server isn't busy
- Keep going despite the many fails.
If anyone needs any help/advice on Aeonaxx or the Camel, please just ask me I have spent many months learning and mastering the hunt for these rares.

Just curious, did you have a specific route that you took usually?Blueprint wrote:After 1 month of searching, I am now the proud owner of a Grey Riding Camel!

It took me 25 camels before I got mine.Blueprint wrote: - NEVER, NOT ONCE did a figurine appear on the eastern side of the map!!!!!!! TAKE NOTE.
I had on hit at the Halls of Origination, and one hit at the bottom of the eastern side. Point 73.73 near the lost City. Most of them though were on the other side of the river. I had a hit at almost every area there was a cluster of points.
I just wanted to say I did have 2 hits on the East side of the Map.

Re: @ people who find a lot of mysterious camel figurines
I agree with a lot of this. The 6 hr minimum spawn is accurate from my experience as well, though I think I managed to find 3 on one day once. And because of server reset times it does seem to then spawn them in mid day or late night. I also never found any on East side but I don't know if it's affected by my having done most of the quests in Uldum. Since I wasn't willing to risk losing one that way I did fly over the entire zone.Blueprint wrote:Some handy hints/observations:

Re: @ people who find a lot of mysterious camel figurines
I was just wondering, since I've started working on my Uldum quests again, which category of nameplates should i turn on in order for the figurine's name to show up? Would it be NPCs? Critters? Or something else. Anyone know?

Default is Shift+V to turn on friendly nameplates, that should show the camel ones.
