So if I'm out of window camping one of the four spawnpoint in Shimmering Expanse, rather than the single spawn in Abyssal Depths, I won't get a ping? : / Blargh. I'm afraid I'll go back to check NPC Scan and find it's been cached while I was afk!

Personally I think that they changed something about his spawn times or patterns that we don't know about. No hits on Wowhead is a pretty odd thing to have happened, so a glitch is possible, but I'm not overly willing to believe that straight off - for both TLPD and Aeonaxx there were huge fits about bugs and glitches when people honestly didn't know how, when and where they spawned. I mean, Vyra/TLPD is pretty common knowledge now (though some people have the most absurd ideas about it still through lack of research lol) and Aeonaxx followed after that as many people figured/assumed he would be just like Time Lost... and they were right. But that knowledge took the better part of an expansion to gather and publicise. What I'm trying to say (I'm very long-winded hahaha sorry!) is that if Blizz has added a different/unusual method of this guy to spawn and we don't know about it, he could take much longer to figure out... for all we know he spawns in a completely different place and has been sitting there forever and a day and no one has figured it out yet.

Having said that though a glitch is entirely possible too. But I wouldn't close my eyes to other options just yet!

Personally though I'm lazy and am going to wait til people have nutted this out before I start my hunt hehehe.

Hmmm i've had a sudden thought! i cant be bothered to remember my password for wowhead but theres 2 rares on ships a horde one and an alliance one, they both spawn at the same time, i found them and i killed the alliance one and he dropped literally nothing. Could this per chance be the place holder mob?

Those two captains have always been there, and don't drop anything. I'm not sure they have much to do with it, but every idea is worth chasing after.

but.. perhaps they both have to be killed.. like acting as one mob, cos i mean blood seeker was in the game before hand, and blizzard do like being a douche

hmmm i have to put an alliance twink on the horde ship... just to test that out

i think i've killed florence twice during my search - but never saw the horde guy. does npcscan find him for horde players?

i wonder why npcscan doesn't find ghostcrawler - even when targeting him oO

Just tested this myself, and it is NOT linking on AD EU.

Your friend needs to link it *into chat*--that means link it into game, and then open a /s or /w line and try to link it again. If it just comes out as text, it's not linkable. If it comes out purple and linkable, there ya go--it doesn't.

This means it's still not been seen anywhere. *scowls at whoever decided that more 20-day camps were a good idea*

Another edit:

The reins are linkable on Anub'arak EU (German realm). This isn't foolproof ofc, but maybe it is in-game!

There's a report now on Wowhead that there's been a kill, although the poster is someone named Umadson so it may be a troll >.>

Killed on EU Tarren Mill at 20:50 game time. A few of my guildies were in shimmering expanse at the time when their NPCscan when off and a dwarf hunter was killing it.

BOE... hmm I wonder how much these things will go for...

Probably enough that if I can get one I'd be able to get the sandstone drake for the gold from selling it.

Anyone else sitting staring at the same flat stretches of sea for hours on end? Wait, I meant days.

Anyone else sometimes pressing the TEST button on NPC Scan just to hear those war drums?

Anyone else doing the same laps and circuits, spamming Refresh on Wowhead, and wondering wtf is up with this spawn?

Oh yeah. Nearly a full week, and no confirmed kills yet, although some rumors going around.

So yeah, got any theorycrafting? Camp stories? Intel on the spawn itself? Share, because I'm going out of my mind. You probably are, too.

P.S. If you're doing it like I am (straight long-term camp), and you have never done a rare camp before, try playing Robot Unicorn Attack with WoW in the background. Good times, good times.

As an update, the first confirmed Poseidus kills have been coming in since about 7 a.m., all on EU realms. My fingers are crossed X!

same an im the only camper on my server, from horde at least, vash'jir is pretty much empty

There's been other campers on & off here during the morning, and I'm so worried that Poseidus will either NOT spawn, spawn after I finally pass out, or spawn right when one of the others is passing.

I've been here 4x or so longer than any one of the other guys, hoping hard that it pays off. Actually found Ghostcrawler a home too

suddenly out of nowhere there are more campers.. well one alliance druid, he camped aeonaxx too >.< FFFFfff... he has only been here today imma be pissed if he gets it

hmm... Maybe when 4.1 launched they forgot to put him back in, and then they just stealth-fixed it with todays maintenance?

It's definitely possible, but it's more likely that it simply has a spawn timer now that's on par with the other 5-man rares (it drops reins + another BoE 85 epic!).

These spawns are occurring about 72 hours after the last EU server resets, which would match up with that, from what Wowheaders are saying.

He seemed to be showing up on EU servers, so I had a fly-by every now and then with my parked alt. I killed Shok'Sharak this morning, and just now did a casual fly-by. I saw Burgy, dead, and lost pretty much all hope, so the adrenaline rush, when npcscan found him in the Glimmerfeep Gorge, was comparable to a TLPD/Aeonaxx sighting. I took screenshots:
