Anyone else notice that cat the Nelves get (as shown in the video) are the currently untameable mount version of the King Bang skin, like the little guy that pats in Darnassus (I think that's where he is..)? Very cool.

I actually missed that. Yes, those little guys wander around Darnassus on the sides.
That is VERY cool.
I'm less impressed by the trivialization of the purple tallstriders, though. :/

I kind of agree with you on that.

I loved my Kevin because you never see those purple tallstriders. If they're suddenly a starting pet then they'll become so common and familiar...just sort of takes away from that. I still don't even see why the Tauren (usually prone to earthy, natural tones) would suddenly have this vibrant green and purple bird when the resident brown tallstriders seem much more appropriate.

I agree 100%. I was thinking of taming one if my Lulu (clutchmother) ends up going extinct. But when I remembered that they were going to be a starter pet then I was like "uh never mind". I don't really care for certain belly button pets.
Please Blizz. Don't take my Lulu away!
If I permanently lose her I'm going for the all white strider. Hopefully they'll still be around.

This.
On the other hand, how many Tauren run around with Mazz tamed...? >_>
I was honestly expecting a brown one as the standard. The purple is just too bright to have it be that common. x_x
I was also surprised Dwarves got the dark brown bear skin. Pleased, though, since it means Ursa is "safe." But I was at least expecting something Dun Morogh-ish.
It's very strange to me how most races got colors typical to their zone (humans, orcs, trolls, blood elves, undead), but others received wild and different options (tauren, night elves, dwarves, draenei). (Am assuming worgen and goblins will have pets typical to their zones, but who knows?) I can't wrap my head around why this was done, or if Blizz is just messing around.

Unless the models we saw were not finalized, which I could honestly bet on considering the strange choices of some.

The thing is, if it's old models and such, it shouldn't be a big deal to plug in.
Maybe it was to encourage players to roll those classes for some reason? No idea. x_x

If they wanted me to roll a tauren hunter, they wouldn't have picked tallstriders. :P

I have a pet fox now. Cata rocks in this way!

I also have a seagull and a mastiff. And my bear can sleep!

Epic necro
Interesting seeing the opinions of people when we FIRST FOUND OUT about these, though!

Indeed, Ach!
I find it amusing that I've seen ONE baby purple tallstrider in all this time.
