I often do, too, especially when guarding a node in a battleground. I rather like being able to have the pet be kinda "Look out boss! Behind ya!" instead of having to wait for actual combat to begin.

I'm not sure what the real benefit is from that functionality. The closest I come to that kind of activity is when farming mobs where there's some competition, such as the crocks or spiders for the dailies in Tol Barad, I do often send my pet after a fresh mob before the current target is dead. However, I'm still shooting at the near dead one. By the time Grumpy gets to croc #2, croc #1 (who follows him over to croc #2) is dead.

On top of that, I suspect most hunters are like me in that they have PetAttack keybound. That makes the new stance somewhat pointless as well.

I'd also rather not have to be dropping multiple shots on a target and thus build up a pile of threat before the pet gets there.

Which would mean only pulling one mob every 30 seconds, as opposed to chain pulling. If one is doing that, then the replacing of pets' aggressive stance isn't an issue.

One word, off-the-cuff responses don't really contribute to a discussion, nor are they really an appropriate response to opinions or statements made by others. This is especially true when the response is an often-used basic class ability.

The one thing I do like about this is the fact my pet will change targets when in a multi-mob and go after the one I am shooting, so if in PVP we get within a group and he has targeted more than one person, he will go off at another but will turn and go for the one I'm shooting. I don't have to take the second or two to have to redirect his attack. I could start shooting what he's attacking, but prefer to assess what is around and get the next important player in the group.

Maybe they will up our flare so that it can actually detect a stealthed rogue or druid instead of being useless.

Yah locks, mages their pets will have this to but the truth is hunters rely on our pets more then any other class. And having my pet on aggressive was great for me as I could park her on the node and use eagle eye to check out other nodes to help out, consdering rogues seemingly can sapp outside our flare line, and I have been able to see them less and less then ever before, trying to idiot proof a class when its extremely useful in pvp is stupid. If a pet owner cant clue in that their pet is still on aggressive (which I have done in the past while pvping and popping into a dungeon, but I quickly change my pet to defensive so no harm done whatsoever) and really every hunter should have their pet attack keybinded so you can send your pet out to attack what you want, so really it is useless as heck.

I have a flare up, and frost trap right behind me to try and help, which does nothing whatso friggen ever, stealths just dance around my trap and literally they do, ill be trying to move them into it to save my self since I already used disengage but they pounced/intercepted/blinked/etc etc to get into my melee aka dead zone.. cause it is a dead zone, detterence doesnt last nearly as long as say a bubble or shield, and raptor strike doesnt cut it so I am pretty much dead cause the mage blinked, trapped me and is now 3 shotting me for fun, so having my pet be able to detect stealths has saved me alot and I will be extremely ticked off if they get rid of it all. Getting rid of it cause certain people make one odd mistake and dont have fast enough reflexes to switch to defensive is stupid. If anything ive had more ninja pulls by hunters who accidently shoot the boss then having a pet go off in aggressive.

Stop trying to idiot proof classes, that just makes it worse.

This annoys me. I pvp. Often. And as such, I nearly ALWAYS have my pet on Agressive, as one of my few counters for stealthies. (Which I feel I need now more than ever, is it just me or do rogues seem to be able to get closer to us then before without us seeing them?)

I mean, WSG, pop pet toAgressive, drop some traps in the fr, hit camo, and I have a neat lil' defence set-up. Oh, and I occasionally pop a flare, with myself in the center of it.

AV/Ab/EoTS/BFG/IoC, defending a node with pet on agressive. The only Bg that I can think of where Agressive is NEARLY useless, would be Strand of the Ancients.

So yes, if this happens we hunters have just lost one of our major PvP stealth detectors, what's next, remove Track Hidden and Flare? :/

and what about the hunters that dont have it? its a high lvl spell now so 60 and 70 twinks like myself cant use it, and hunters will have to live without it for most of the leveling exsperiance. v.v

learing to control your pet, and using macros to fine tune that control, is all part of being a hunter imho. Controling your pet takes some skill and its somthing everyone should learn. messups are exspected but having a "Hunter: that was easy!" button its kinda sad. I tend to use passive and agressive more often then i use defencive anyway. just slap /petattack to a main shot and you are good to go. agressive is also a godsend when escorting lowbies. (anyone here remeber the petopia bunny run a few weeks back? ;) ) or somtimes if i had to go away for a bit and had a lowbie in my care, i would just set my pet on agressive next to them and more often then not it saved them. I dont look forward to having a second defencive with an attack delay on it, can anyone say exstra threat? i still say that this would be a nice improvement to the defencive button, since there seems to be problems with pets giving up and running back to you while you are still shooting at other mobs, but otherwise i think its a bad idea.

Now there's an interesting idea! Perimeter defense mode, if a aggressive target comes within x distance the pet will attack. I'd love to see something like that added.

I'm not a pvp-er, though I surely see the usefulness of this stance in pvp, but I hate the idea of aggressive stance being taken away from our pets. It's massively helpful in swarm pve encounters too. Hope to see this change shafted before the patch hits. *crosses fingers*

None of the non-pet classes can turn on a stance where they jump the nearest enemy without player intervention, so I see it as fair if (supposedly) player-controlled pets behave the same way. Make a macro for /targetnearestenemy /petattack and click it constantly if you have to, but this change only levels the playing field.

It is a completely stupid idea. Defensive stance already does what the new stance does, and the few times I do pvp I do use the aggressive stance, or when hunting Horde in Stormwind/Ironforge.

Meh, nearly every nerf for every class is because of PvP. Bestial Wrath and The Beast Within were practically destroyed because of the humongous outcry from the Arena players who were upset that Beastcleave managed to defeat the popular cookie-cutter build. I won't be surprised at all of Aggressive Stance is being taken out because of Rogues and Druids crying about pets finding them.

guys this is a buff and nerf, okay no more stealthy pulls but how may times do you get sapped and you see the rogue? just right click sick pet,
NOW those damn dirty taunts wont ever hurt my pet again
tanking warriors can no long send my BM pet on him instead of his healer,
gentlemen THIS DAY WE FIGHT.... (with our pets on our targets anyway...)

All of the non-pet classes dont need it as they can defend themself quite easily, get into a warriors face he'll be fine. Get into a hunter face with detterence down and even then most likely the survivability is pretty brutal for that hunter. We have a melee range which for some reason no longer goes on if I am trying to attack and the thing gets to close.. so I have to find my auto attack button, and really.. a melee hunter is laughable at best so having a pet who can watch my back is nice cause that is what they are suppossed to do. Hunters pets for BM is all about the pet, then its all about the pet for any spec when its a close range attack and disengage is on a 30 sec cooldown
