Well.. How about a hunter character? Mind you.. None of our characters, just some made-up beastmaster using the model viewer, someone to give hints, tips and general info in little speech bubbles? Something like Breanni's(sp) site.

Maybe you people should be aware of one fact:

Petopia is Manias site and we are the community using her services.

Maybe we should get back to suggesting stuff and let Mania do what she thinks is best?

There shouldn't be any votes about what we should have or not.
When I said that Mania should take advantage of the creativity of this community, I meant for her to use our skills, not our taste or our opinions.

This all sounds a little like "Oh, cool, we're redesigning the page!"
No people, we're not! Mania is and lucky we are if she decides to let us or at least some of us, be part of it.

I offered help, not partnership.

Don't get me wrong, it's good to see you all go crazy about this as it shows how much you care.
But in the end, we can only suggest things and let Mania see what she likes or what inspires her.

Well said, Kara. A few of the comments were bearing too far in the direction of "... and then we'll do such and such" and not enough "I'd suggest such and such."

Helio, I like the idea of the comments (someone also suggested using P.Dawg for it), but it's a helluva lot of work. I wouldn't put that on Mania. Not to mention... it has already been done on warcraftpets.

I can draw pretty good runeswords! I'd offer my services...

And I'll agree with Kara. The whole "zomg my char is in that thread use him!!!!11!1" isn't right. Mania's site. Mania's choice. Mania's work. Mania's [insertwordhere].

While it would take a bit more work, I think designing a couple different, simple themes would be a great idea. Say, you wanted to keep to unifying colors. A pink theme, and it would have pink colored pets in the margins. Same with blue, green yellow, etc. Then, viewers could choose which theme they like best to use.
Whatever happens, I'd be willing to help too. I'm not the best coding person, but I do know some, and since my college is finished for the year (finally!), I would have the time to do so.

Also, I think a little P. Dawg would amazing fun, but not in the way it was suggested previously. Rather then making him the overall mascot, I think dropping some P. Dawg 'easter eggs' would be cool. For instance, if Mania decided to go with a Crab and Beach theme, a small image of him in a little innertube off to the side. Just a little random fun that forum goers would recognize, and non-forum goers may or may not notice, and if they DO notice, it may entice them to come to the forums to find out what the mysterious thing is about.

It's okay, Karathyriel. I like to see people getting excited and throwing out ideas. I consider it brainstorming -- after lots of ideas are on the table, I'll ruthlessly throw out the ones that aren't feasible or that I don't like.

I do want to reiterate, though, in case it got lost, that the chances of any of this happening soon are somewhat slim. Even using the community's resources (and I do appreciate it!), I tend to get bogged down easily and let things sit. I've been working on a cleaner version of Warcraft Mounts now for .. err .. six months? I'd love to set up a test forum for open theming, but I haven't even gotten to reading about how to do that yet ...

And if the Cataclysm beta starts, everything will come to a screeching halt for months most likely.

I know exactly where you're coming from, having kept a number of successful websites myself. If there's anything we can do to easen your work, just let us know. :D I love making layouts and wouldn't mind putting my skills to use.

*nod* I don't have a beta key (I don't think anyone does yet), but even without one I'll probably be digging through the data mining sites and bothering every contact I have to get more information.

I wounder what would happen if you change the forums... I feel that something strange will happen...
