I knew about Fel Reavers before I hit Outlands. I knew to avoid them, knew what to look for. What I wasn't warned about was the noise they made. That loud blowing horn whatever noise... it scares the hell out of me everytime. I've never been killed by one as I always avoid them, but that noise. It makes my heart jump everytime I hear it.

While they don't "scare" me... spiders in game make my skin crawl a bit. I don't like spiders, so naturally seeing even ones in game just creeps me out. While I may enjoy some of the colorations and detail of them.. just.. keep them away from me.

The only other thing would be the three faced boss in Black Temple. It's just creepy and the noises it makes adds to the creepyness. It doesn't "scare" me like the noise the Fel Reaver makes, but it definitely gives that creepy chill of, "DO NOT WANT" like spiders.

The undead npcs that bother me the most are those zombies in STV that walk very slowly with their arms out in front!

Oh, yes! Normally undead mobs have never unnerved me, but that slow, lumbering walk they do...*shudder*

Hmm... while there are plenty of things irl that I'd not as soon touch with a 20 mile pole, I'm having trouble thinking of any in wow that have that effect on me...

The whale shark doesn't bother me, as they are just gentle giants irl, which I guess overlays my in-game reaction to them (ofc, if I saw one irl I seriously doubt I'd work up the nerve to actually hop in the water with it, even if it was part of a guided tour with experts on hand - my fear of deep water doesn't follow me into the game, but it sure does keep a strong grip irl...)

Well, there was one - back in Vanilla, I remember nervously poking about the dense undergrowth of Silverpine Forest *hoping* there wasn't a Son of Arugal lurking behind the next tree. It wasn't so much the model per se but rather the anticipation of running into one. But yeah, creepy.

Let's see... oh yeah - remember the dwarven (skinning or lw trainer, can't recall which), who lived in a tent in searing gorge, with her cozy campfire? Go check on her now... /squick O.O

maybe it's stupid, but...

I hate PvP so much, that to be perfectly frank, what scares me the most is opposite faction players when I've been accidentally flagged for PvP (some quests do this, and flying over certain zones will do it).

it just gets my heart pounding, and not in a good way.

I used to be the same way... till I forced myself to run a BG for the Halloween title.

Since then, I still avoid PVP by choice - I don't see myself ever doing PVP voluntarily - but when I'm auto-flagged now, I feel resigned to the vulnerability rather than scared like I used to be.

a while back, I was dual-boxing a pair of hunters. If I recall, they were in the low 30's, for some reason, just getting to 1000 Needles (Hordies).

We got on the elevator from Barrens, at the same time as a higher-level Alliance Warrior player. She was I don't know, maybe 4-5 levels higher? I wanted to click on her and /wave, except I accidentally clicked wrong, and my pet attacked immediately... The only way to defend myself from that point was to have both toons attack the Warrior. We won, after all there were four of us (that's why I love Hunter). But I had to log out immediately after. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest.

Being flagged PvP has given me nausea ever since.

I had to exorcise the fear of fel reavers by killing them repeatedly with my 85 until they just became "a giant mob I can stomp" rather than a beast of terror.

Oozes really, really creep me out.

That was one of the things I liked about Rifts - iirc the settings included one that actually blocked any action on your part that would otherwise auto-flag you for PVP, when toggled on. Like a gun safety.

Yes, WoW really needs that setting. People should not fear accidentally PVP-flagging themselves.

I love PVP and don't mind world PVP so long as it's between more-or-less equals. Stomping lowbies is a jerkass move.

I have this massive phobia of dead insects.
Massive.

Guess who doesn't like AQ?

It's not exactly something that scares me but for some reason I can never watch the Fire Hawk being eaten by the spider on the way to Beth'tilac in Firelands.

I love Devilsaurs in general.. but I always feared while low level in Ungator that I was going to be Ninja'd from behind by one of them. For being so big, they are so dang quiet. Here I am minding my own business when Wham.. down comes that big damaging claw and bite. Never see it coming.

For me it wasn't so much that devilsaurs completely snuck up on me as that by the time I saw them, there was no easy escape - Ungoro is so crowded that often I'd have to plow into a whole bunch of other mobs to stay out of the devilsaur's approaching aggro zone of stompy doom.

Yeah I find dead insects very squick. Alot of the live ones as well - basically anything poisonous, bitey, sting-y, larger-than-a-bug-should-be, or just excessively wriggly looking. Get it the hell away from me.

Yet for some odd reason I rather like all of the bugs in wow - even the walking nightmare from AQ. Maybe it's a split personality thing...

Well, if it makes ya'll feel better, I have terrible arachnophobia. Not an anxiety. Not a general dislike. Not even creeps. PHOBIA. Real deal.

So, that means I cried my way through Anub, and skip zones with spiders else I can't move my character.

Though, I DO have Kirix tamed and ADORE him with Galaxy. I even let him become my main RP pet outside of the obvious Bliss. I'm not sure WHY I actually can stare at Kirix and not get to the point of slamming my laptop shut, but it's true.

Maybe if all spiders glowed a toxic "I got into the nuclear plant core and then ESCAPED" glow I'd be alright?

Gah, the spiders in-game freaked me out for the first year or so that I played. Just... their noises.
/shudder

As of right now, nothing really "scares" me, except for maybe the whale sharks or the fel reavers, but those are 'oh shit this might kill me' than a 'ohgodwtfwtfwtfgetaway!' scare.

On low levels, Devilsaurs still do manage to make me shriek if they sneak up behind me, though...

Fel Reaver used to terrify me, and even now makes me uneasy. Gronn freak me out, as does Cho'gal (and gronnstalker gear, not a fan of large bulgy eyeballs). Oh, and zombies. And ghosts.

I used to be terrified of WoWs "insects" and gorillas but after questing in Lolazar basin those fears have since left. Well, okay I have a fear of irl wasps so the ones in WoW still freak me out a bit.

I was startled of devilsaurs the first time I had one sneak up on me but after that I fell in love with them!

And this isn't a creature, but I CANNOT look at my screen if I'm falling for more than a second or two. Unless I'm on my Druid, I find safety in flight form.

I am another person who cannot stand the sight of dead insect, esp spiders, so whenever I see a dead Beetle or spider in game it unnerves me. I also hate the spider's swimming animation for similar reasons, it's all in the legs.

In terms of a fear, Fel Reavers win it hands down. They're actually pretty cool, seeing them from a distance stomping across the ground and hearing that eerie roar. Yeah when they are in line of sight, that's fine! It's those times on a lowbie alt or back when I first encountered them when you're trying to kill x amount of one kind of demon followed by x amount of another demon on a hill side and you hear this really loud roar right next to you, turn around and it's. Right. There.

Afterwards it's then really annoying to try and finish these quests because a fel reaver decides to come stomping along in the middle of the mobs you need to kill. In my first run of Hellfire I found it difficult enough to stay alive with the small mobs never mind a giant transformer who can one or two shot me.
I remember leaving the game to go to the toilet or something, I come back and i'm dead. I look at my log and yep, a Fel Reaver had decided to come and pay a visit to my area.

Abominations also creep me out but not purely form their open stomach and stench clouds of green, which is disgusting enough but their faces remind me of that scene in Jaws where Hooper pulls the tooth from the wrecked boat... if you've seen it you know what happens next. I adore that film so much but still cannot watch that scene after seeing it the first time, freaks me out!

Yeah, my Kirix went with me on some exploring in Vash and that was the FIRST time I had been disturbed by my toxic little spider. Bliss returned almost immediately and I couldn't stop itching all over my body for hours after that. Psychological issues are STRONG.
