The other day Janie lost a tooth, its in the rant thread cause i was freaking out about it but i discovered that shes losing her baby teeth which would explain her need to chew on paper, boxes, my toes and fingers XD

Caught Janie sleeping earlier today in her house, upside down-ish XD

Is it normal for cats to bleed some when they shed baby teeth?

Also, so adorable. She looks so happy <3

The tooth was a bit bloody, her mouth didnt appear to bleed any tho, there was just a red mark where it fell out. Like all teeth tho im sure its normal for a little bleeding cause the root has severed from the tooth but it definitely wont be in any large amounts unless it was yanked out or something im sure, her's wiggled out while we were playing, she kept making weird motions like something was stuck in her teeth and out it popped XD

And ooohhhh gooooodddddddddd she found several days ago a plushie sleepy sheep phone knick knack from somewhere, god knows where, i lost both the pink and yellow ages ago and she goes flippin' wild for it. I had to take it away from her last night cause she found it after a few days of being lost -again- and i gave it to her this morning and she goes wild on my bed over it XD she loooves dragging her toys onto my bed and i usually find them stuffed halfway under the covers when i go to sleep

It's prefrectly fine for there to be bleeding when baby teeth fall out and it depends on what type of tooth for how much bleeding (of course the back moulers would have more veins etc.

I mean I know all mine liked to bleed

Hm okay.. When I visited my mom, her kitten bled from a tooth, but I'm not sure which it was, so thought maybe it was a process in shedding one. :P

Possibly :3

another little update haha, anyways so, Janie is afraid of Tamika  I wanted to see how they would interact if Janie wasnt dangling from the cage and Tamika with lightning speed climbed the cage bars straight for Janie's face when she leaned down to sniff her. I stopped for a few min and then i tried it again and Janie kept trying to get away from the cage. I took Tamika out of the cage and showed Janie and she kept inching away to the point where she stood up and ran off.. then she hopped back on the bed and i had them both on the bed and Janie would inch forward to sniff Tamika but she'd turn around and Janie would jump back a bit.. it was funny..

I also let Janie stick her head in the cage when Tamika was on a ramp and Tamika kept trying to snap at Janie and Janie would keep trying to shove herself away from the cage. I wasnt doing it to scare either of them, i dont want to give either any injuries, but Janie keeps jumping onto the cage and i wanted to see how Janie would truly act if she ever got the cage door open or if she would try to bite Tamika through the bars but when i found out that Tamika was aggresive towards her i used that as a tactic against Janie to teach her that the cage is a scary object and that jumping on it would be a bad thing and get her bitten. Tamika is totally fine, she's nibbling on a rat donught i gave her to help calm her down from the ordeal and Janie is sleeping sprawled out on my bed.

Also, Janie loves her teddy bear even more now, she drags him around and chews the hell out of him. She runs all over the house with him in mouth and will cry and cry but she doesnt respond to me when i talk back to her, she just keeps on meowing to the bear and ignores me so im guessing she talks to it rather then announcing she's brought home a kill or something XD

It would be the cutest thing if Janie and Tamika became really good friends and shared bed and food and stuff.. :D
And I love how it seems she is talking to the teddy. It makes me want a kitten so bad. ^^

Tamika seems outwardly aggressive to her, possibly cause she can sense that Janie is interested in her as a 'toy' and she thinks that she's gonna become lunch to her.. She was never aggressive to Lucky, she would actually crawl over Lucky and he'd just sit there and accept it. He obviously didnt like her but he took it like a champ XD I def think Janie has the hint that the cage is now a bad place to be near, i was showing stepdad what i discovered and Tamika and i opened the door to show that Janie was truly terrified of Tamika rather then it being a factor of that the bar's were in the way and Tamika bared her teeth at Janie and kept leaning forward like she was trying to actively reach Janie to bite.

Janie of course pushed and shoved and wiggled to escape XD I gave Tamika another little rat doughnut afterwards, she doesnt seem phased at all by the new interactions, she returns to her normal buisness after Janie moves out of sight. It would be cute if they became friends, perhaps one day with enough interaction they'll learn to be ok with eachother, but right now Janie eyes her too hungrily, namely, her tail, to allow Tamika to let her guard down and be friendly.

And yea, its absolutely hilarious what she does with it, she's chewed the hell out of the nose and some strings were ripped apart and some of his fur is scattered around my room but he's holding up well against her assults XD It feels great to have a kitten again but i really do miss how laid back Lucky was, i cant keep up to Janie's attention span or energy, it wears me out quickly lol

Well it's perfectly natural for a rat to not trust a cat  I wouldnt XD

I'd be a bit worried if it was the other way around and the cat was scard of the rat what kinda crazy backwards world would that be! Dogs would walk people XD wait that would be quite funny to see....... >.>

I can imagine how fascinating the tail of Tamika must be for Janie..
My moms kitten is very fascinated by her own tail. All of a sudden it twitches and she turns her head and stares at it, and then it just lies there, completely still, but once she turns her head away and continues whatever she was doing, her tail moves around again. It's rather hilarious to watch :P

Mmmmm lol no, she more just tries to smack her around, she seems now more interested in the body then the tail XD

Janies home from her spaying at the vets today. Shes coming out of her half stoned state inside her cat carrier right now, and shes really feeling it. I dont think shes so much feeling the discomfort but moreso the frustration of not being able to walk normally or register whats going around in her environment (when we took her out that is, she could wobble around and she'd flop off the bed or the couch which is bad for her stitches) so well, shes clawing the crap outta the carrier but shes safe in there until she's out of her funk.

We had it done at her current age of 4 1/2 months cause she was crying and crying and crying, she cried for a week straight both day and night. I researched it and talked to people and they said she was probably in heat. Turns out she was when we picked her up from the vet. Cost us a bit more because it made the surgury a tad more complicated but all in all i paid $89 which is good since the Walnut Grove hospital which we will never go to again was a base rate of $80 and Pitt Meadows hospital charges $120 as a base rate.

Hope the sedatives wears off soon, can't be fun for her. Speaking of heat, I think my moms kitten is in heat aswell. She seemed to cry a lot, and they have started to let her outdoors. They are taking her to the vet for spaying anytime now though ^^

Yea when they're in heat they cry from tension, was driving stepdad and i to the brink of insanity till we discovered we had earplugs  but they never completely blocked it out. She's doing well, she had a good long sleep yesterday and was up and about late last night. Used the litterbox, ate, drank, i hung out with her in the livingroom for a bit before bed. This morning she gave me a leg and butt massage to greet me good morning and has been relatively active but very slow to do things due to the stitches, she cant really do a whole lot even tho she tries to.

I have pillows circling the bed, the blinds down but open for light, her kennel as a sort of stepping stool from my bed to her food and water if she tries to jump down from her usual angle to eat/drink, i keep a pillow on my computer chair so she wont jump up on it.. anything to stop her from jumping far distances which she still thinks she can do. She isnt afraid to crawl over pillows so she'll still go on the bed and what not but she'll feel too daunted by the challenge of trying to outleap the pillows and instead slink down onto them and then move on. Vet said we gotta try and keep her from doing those big leaps so that she doesnt tear the stitches out.

She also cant go on the balcony for a few days, till its healed up enough that we dont need to be overly concerned about infection, theres too many rusty tools and un-sterilized things out there for her to possibly crawl over that could get into the cut. But she doesnt seem to have a huge interest in the balcony right now anyways which is good so she probably wont even try to ask why we wont let her out until we feel she can XD

Carrier is good, tough material so she cant do much to it. Uploading a pic right now (well, trying to) i got of her some days ago. Ive noticed that her eyes are pretty much her deep golden yellow, but then she has a large circle of green surrounding her pupil. Its like, the yellow is the whites of our eyes, then the green is our colored portion of the eye, and then of course the pupil. Its really cool but i cant get her head to sit still enough in the light to get a pic of it.

Edit: Here we are <3 Apparently my phone was like ooh yes lets make the picture really big this time! Either that or tinypic doesnt default resize. Never used tinypic till a couple days ago. So link rather then img ^^

Edit Edit: Apparently the code to the link was reused and it was showing a motorcycle o_O

What a gorgeous picture of her. <3

Do you know about how old regular non-purebred are when they are about fully grown?

Not sure, females grow 6-8 pounds and males are 8-10 pounds. Lucky ranged in the 8-9 pounds as a male so i think its a pretty universal number for slim cats.. she should come out fairly tall and slim with Korats being free from human manipulation in the age old trade of selective breeding for i guess it'd be hundreds to thousands of years. They werent allowed to be manipulated like that since they're sacred good luck charms in Thailand and only given as gifts, never sold (no idea if these traditions still continue and if they dont, dunno how long ago they stopped).

Infact, tbh, if it wasnt for her mutation we would think she was purebred cause she shows all natural faults in a Korat's fur (faint darker fur in spots and stripes along the coat, small tuft of white fur on the collar bone) and has the silver sheen which is the immediate indicator of Korat or another breed, and her eyes are changing from yellow to green which is part of their stage development. But polydactyl is a mutation common in cats from Eastern North America, mostly states side, and also England. They were removed from England however when they were deemed to not be a 'blue siamese' which was what people passed them off as and they were no longer allowed in shows. But they were brought to America in the 1970's and i have a sneaky bet she might of had a relative at the Hemmingway Museum. Its a museum and a home for cats who carry the polydactyl mutation.

er..

I love the Korats history, can you tell?

Anywho, sorry, lol XD

She's like i said pretty much a fake purebred in that she looks like a full blown Korat but has the mutation. So her other 'side' is undeterminable but it'd be something that'd be recessive. Probably not a tabby, i think that they're genes are pretty dominant but maybe a member of the siamese family. I dont know a whole lot of breeds that would be candidates but it would be definitely something that wouldnt be able to compete with the Korats genetic nature.

You can tell she was made for jumping to catch birds btw im sure from the pics of her stretching, she can jump as high as my bust, which is probably 4 feet from the ground. Im 5'5. And shes only 4 n a half months too, she has a lotta growing to do but shes gonna be a tall and long cat and she's pretty big for her age too, nothin' but muscle from natural breeding. All i can say to that end is thank god she doesnt use those legs of hers to climb up curtains XD Lucky did that all the time as a kitten, we'd have to get on chairs and pry him from the bar the curtain rests on.
