I have to thank both you and Zuilu as your spider threads have kept my mind of my cats health and I reallly need to stop thinking about that for a bit it's tearing me up.
So thanks!

A.M.G. He is squee-dorable!!! :3 He definitely looks like he should be molting soon. That abdomen of his looks like it's about to pop!

I just love tarantulas, and g. pulchras are so beautiful. Congrats on your little baby!

Did you check the molt to determine his gender? -curious-

I'm at work right now, but I put it in a container with a damp paper towel to soften it so I can take a better look at the abdomen when I get home.
I don't mind which gender "he" turns out to be, female would be fine since that means a longer lifespan. I just have this visualization of Sabbath as a male so either way that probably won't change in my head.

Wow that was fascinating to see the inside of his old shell, and he looks so different now

Hee, yes I love looking inside! Especially the hollow legs, they just pull right out of them like stockings.
I'm thrilled that his first molt in my possession was the iconic one of him finally changing appearance.

He was so adorably shy! He must have molted either yesterday or last night, so I'm sure he was still pretty fresh. I just remember checking up on him this morning before work and seeing the molt in the middle of his enclosure and him in his little hide. I peeked around back and saw a foot sticking out - a very BLACK foot, and I knew I had to take a look at him.

Just took one quick photo and put his hide back over him, didn't want to disturb him too much. :3

He's so beautiful now! <3 <3 And his molt is neat. I've never seen one before, since my male rosehair was already mature when I bought him.

I love playing with fresh molts, they're so fun! Sabbath is a very attractive little tarantula. I love that smooth, velvety black color. <3

I'd totally keep the fang. Sort of ................. a spider growth chart. lol
When my venomous snake would shed fangs or the monitor lizards would lose teeth - if I actually found them - I'd keep them.

Sabbath is being such a
brat.
Since his molt he’s been super skittish and quick to bolt, so I’ve been trying to leave him alone for the most part. Still, when I go to refill his water he sometimes spooks, and in his previous tank he actually ran so fast he cleared the side and escaped.
I decided to get a new enclosure a couple days ago with higher walls so I wouldn’t feel so paranoid about him jumping ship. Only…
He started building.
And he made this big hill.
And sure enough today as I go to check his water, the noise of me opening the lid makes him bolt and he runs straight up his hill and gets out of the tank. ._. Thankfully he paused as soon as he was out and just sort of clung to the side, so I was able to gently coax him back over the edge and inside.
*shakes head* What am I going to do with him. xD

He has been Mr. Excavator from day one. It started off with just simple doorways to his hides, now he's full out making hobbit hills. >_>
