*nod* Seeing it in person, the backwards effect really doesn't look odd. The wings flap normally while moving forwards...while it's idling in the air it just appears as though it's trying to maintain a steady position with both the wing and body movements.

Both because the store tends to lend a cheapish feel to a beautiful design and also because to a lot of people, kids and teens especially but also folks with kids and mortgages, that extra $25 means a lot and is hard to justify for one mount.
Having said that I wouldn't want it as rare rng or as elite raid. I always ALWAYS value personal hard work achievements more. Like the pink protodrake for example. In this case I would have preferred something that could be achieved in the LFR version of Dragon Soul through personal persistence and work. LFR is no scarier than 5 man pugs so there's not many it would exclude.

I think you mean the Violet Proto-Drake. I wish there was a pink one...x3

Yeah I was being flippant with the pink comment

. It's certainly closer to pink than violet. Magenta is probably the closest real colour.
I always referred to it as my Barbie Fun Drake. But not in a derisive way. It's very flamboyant but I do love it

Touche on that one. But I still wouldn't mind a baby pink dragon. X3 *likes pink!*

I just want to play devil's advocate and toss this out there - I worry that people are of the mindset that Blizzard shouldn't have any pretty mounts be raid drops at ALL. EVER. That wouldn't be fair to the people who do put a lot of time and effort into raiding and want something special to reward them. Some people don't mind that it has a low drop chance, it makes it that much more special to them.
I'm all for having shiny mounts in the store so that everyone has a chance at some, but I get the feeling that any time they decide to make a mount obtainable only by raiding, that everyone's going to complain and yell about how unfair it is because they work nine jobs and have eleven children.
Blizz seems to be doing a decent job of giving nice mounts to players of all playstyles. Let's hope they keep it that way.

I'd call the Chromatic drakes a dark pink colour (tho they could be argued to be purple but it's kinda one of those "moot eye of the beholder" colours I personally think it's pinksih purple) and theres that one mount

No one has said that though. If you look at most of the mounts they've come out with....majority are either TCG or Raid Drops. Only the Celestial Steed, the Winged Guardian, Tyrael's Charger, and Heart of the Aspects is not.
I am a hardcore raider and I work hard at the raids I do.....but little reward. Why? RNG. I've raided Firelands silly and NEVER have I seen any of the mounts drop...ever.
I think the complaint about raid drop mounts is it's always .000001% chance they'll drop and when they do, you're competing with 9 - 24 people for it. Now if it was a 50% drop rate or a guaranteed drop(like OS), I don't think anyone would mind.
EDIT: Yeah. XD I'd want something a bit lighter than that though. Kinda like the love bird pink.

Mounts numbers ~
4 from Blizz Store.
15 From TCG.
31 from all raids past and present. (this include battle tanks unusable outside Ahn'Qiraj, and all retired mounts from the old ZG, etc.)
out of a possible 278 mounts.....
I'd say the majority of mounts come from other sources
And by saying that.......
"I'm so GLAD it's not a raid mount. My biggest pet peeve is that every good looking mount was always some super low drop raid mount that almost no one was gonna get unless you're a hardcore raider."
could make others think...
"I worry that people are of the mindset that Blizzard shouldn't have any pretty mounts be raid drops at ALL."
(even if they have stated they just wanted to play devils advocate at the start of their post)
And then to say.......
No one has said that though
could leave people a little confused
That said, I am Very glad that we did not have to wait til MOP for this mount, it really does look quite spectacular

Majority comparing the three: Raids, Store, and TCG though....goes to Raids. That was one of the points I was getting at. Another point is she was saying, least if I understood it correctly, that we dont want raid mounts EVER. I was pointing out no one said we dont ever want more raid mounts.

We just hate the RNG and elitist saying we shouldn't ever have store mounts.
Also majority of raid mounts are RNG...and very few people have them. Example...Moon Guard is one of the biggest servers. People run Ulduar all the time. Only ONE person has Mimiron's Head.
I do agree about the MoP thing though. I was thinking we'd have to wait.

Very much agree with you there.

I think we have a nice distribution of mounts that cater to a variety of playstyles and sources.

I agree with this as well. Just wish the raid mount RNG was raised a bit.

Was doing some mining around Terokkar and went through the Cenarion thicket where theres that localized debuff. It had a very beautiful effect on the dragon.

Quick screenies of a couple different colours (haha Makoes, I was just thinking of green).
Disgusting Oozleing aura (modelled by Caelan):
Bestial Wrath in front:
BW is hard since it doesn't last long and you spend like half the buff just mounting up. xD

I know it's a little evil
but you could head to Borean Tundra and gank some wildlife and get the blood debuff, that one lasts a bit longer from memory

Ooh, good idea! I had completely forgotten about that, thanks SB.
EDIT:
Can anyone think of other colour auras to try out?

I'm wondering if there's some sort of blue frost one that would last long enough.

There's a mage I saw using a trinket that made the mount look a deep blue...was really pretty...lemme see if I got a screen to upload...
Didn't get any great screens of it, but the trinket they had a (it was a use one) gave a blue aura...something about fel energies, don't remember.

Ooh, that looks awesome Max!
EDIT: Sorry for screenshot spam. I went to check out Moonglade since it always gives a neat shade to things.
The armor turns a pretty shade of green, and in BW it goes black:

I should screenshot the Shadowform. It looks wicked awesome.
