Any news on more stable slots?

It must really suck to be searching for him for so long and no luck. Are you on a High Pop server or something? I found all the Sholazar Basin rares between 1am and 3 am. I've since seen them a few times during the day but not often. I really like that they're still very rare but I definitely feel for those like you who are having so much trouble finding the one they want.

I'm on Nordrassil US, so medium Pop, and the basin is almost always empty, I just never find him alive and not dying. I haven't seen him at all during cata though. I used to check before bed and when I wake up, as well as dedicating good portions of my weekends to him, but that only netted me a few visits by the Jolly Green Giant, King Krush. I've sorta just given up by now, as I do already have 3 spirit beasts, but I'd like to manage a tame. Anyways, this isn't exactly on topic,

I do think I'd like a few more stable slots, maybe a total of 30 pets? If not, I think 25 is fine, but I'm already adding pets I want come MoP, and I'll need to do serious pet evaluation for them...

I like the pet AND the challenge, and I see nothing wrong with that. Say I'm not doing it for the 'right' reasons, call me a special snowflake if you want, but I love the hunt as much as the tame. The effort makes the end result all the sweeter.

This, for sure. I have always loved the thrill of the hunt- especially once you finally get that pet you've been looking for! That's why I run around as "Araela the Seeker".

I would love to have 5 more stable slots. That would mean that I could enjoy things like the porcupine that is coming in Mists. And yes, I have a porcupine tamed on Beta at the moment with Kerafirewing and it is named Sonic. Also, having 5 more spots would mean I would not have to get rid of things either for the first time or again for the ones I've gotten back after releasing.

Remember all 25 that I have at the moment? You darn right I can. And all my pets are special to me in some way.

1) Striker (red dino outside "old" org and now starter pet), first one I ever tamed when I got level 10
2) Eclipse (Humar the Pridelord), tamed at level alone before knowing about the freeze trap idea so nearly got killed, was once my PVP cat.
3) Mohan (King B), tamed at level because of my love of the real Tiger Island cat by the name and because I love white tigers.
4) Jazz (Deviate Dredfang from WC), love wind serpents and wanted it forever, got it, released it, got it again, released it, got it again, kept it.
5) Kashmyr (Venomtip), wanted to check out a snake and fell in love with this one. My Omnitron killer.
6) Mystik (Gorefang), I love wolves and wanted this one from day one.
7) Sunoiwahyaw (Snarler), Black wolf so not to be passed up since that is my personal wolf form could I shapeshift. Name is Night Wolf (literal) in Cherokee.
8) Shiva (Loque), Hunted and ended up in a sandwich between it and Krush so tamed cat and used to kill Krush since I owed him a death from Wrath.
9) Raijin (Skoll), wanted from day 1 and hunted and prayed for him and finally got him after having him killed in front of me by an ally hunter.
10) Rayth (Karoma), couldn't have a grimtotem so why not the next best thing, plus a wolf so had to have. Name is from a series of short stories I do.
11) Ghost (Arcturis), happened to run into and had not actually 100% planned to get so would be the one to go in MoP if had to.
12) Ember (Sarkoth), great little tank pet and I have a fascination with scorpions.
13) Coale (Gezzy from Skettis), loved this skin and chased it when it became tamable as I wanted another tank pet for questing and possible pvp.
14) Jayde (Jadefang), did the camp and had to fight a mage for the tame. Has become my world pvp pet.
15) Shankalo (rfk black armor boar), loved the look so had to have it.
16) Sabre (death ravager), my green one got recolored to a crayon explosion so I got this one to make up for it plus it is from Alliance territory.
17) Spectre (ghost saber), finally got the statue to give it up before being high enough for spirit beasts.
18) Kitsune (Ashtail), Hunters are meant to be tricky like foxes so why not have a fox to show for it?
19) Huginn (Daggercap Hawk), Tamed a base flight form night elf druid lately?
20) Rifter (Nuramoc), AoE fun plus a sleek look. Can't wait to make him a dps pet.
21) Azure (Arrakoa protector), ghost bird to peck enemies of nature in the head. Sounds awesome to me.
22) Alstair (Kurken), It's Kurken on a Horde....enough said.
23) Smoke (Takk the Leaper), a troll and a dino....Need I say more?
24) Slushie (mage hunter puppy), Wanted this tamable since the CE art book for Wrath. Had to get it since I was one of the ones that begged for it.
25) Tracker (ghost jormungar), had regular and got him a new skin. Has become my bg and tol barad pet. Killer tank too.

Have also tamed a rhino, Sambas, silithid, bat, and every other family to check out all of them before choosing what pets to truly get. Any not on this list did not make my personal cut so were gotten rid of without a second thought. Of course, I do have 8 other hunters with many different pets and pets yet to get on lists for the type of hunter. So rolling another hunter (already have to make a panda) is almost out of the question. Five more slots would mean I don't have to give up the work I've done and can still enjoy what the developers add in Mists.

The problem with stable size increases is, they don't fit that description, and so I support stable size limits for the same reason Blizzard does - disk space limitations. Removing key rings was mostly about freeing up space for data storage - freeing up an extra 0.25" of UI space being a rather distant secondary consideration (if that).

Also, Blizzard probably realizes that even if they did add more slots, it would never be enough - I mean, to go from 3 to 25 and still have people saying "just 3/5/10/etc more" is about as conclusive proof of that as you're going to find (and to be fair, people asking for 3/5/10/etc more probably would be content with that much extra... till the next xpac).

I totally agree with this.

I mean on one hand, I'd love having more stable slots but I'm also totally ok with what we have. I mean, although I love the pets I have majority of them just don't get used. I keep the same 5 pretty much 90% of the time. Albeit some of that will change if I can select what spec my pets are (totally using ferocity warp stalker, just sayin'), but overall it probably won't change my lineup much.

But on the other hand, I can also see where people are coming from asking for more stable slots. It seems more and more (lately) that Hunter's pets are gaining more attention from Blizzard as far as developing goes. I mean developmentally, pets have come a long way. Which gives players the impression that Blizzard is finally noticing "hey, these players aren't just treating these parts of their class as an extra dps cannon". Which has led to a literal explosion of pets, families, and a variety of new spells and skills. So I can kinda see the idea "Ok you're giving us at least 20 new models, do we at least get 5 new stable slots?" for MoP XD

But overall, yeah. I do agree with you. I think for server space limitations (and probably other reasons I don't even know about) we probably won't see an upgrade to stable slots.Which makes sense, I'm sure 25 pets per hunter per server is super taxing as is lol

As for the original question - I am okay with 25, with similar reasons as Vephriel posted. But I'd be okay with 30 I suppose, I'm sure I'd use all the slots. I do actually use all my pets pretty often - I like to toggle them in and out :) I have a particular attachment to some (Nanda, Chrysaetos, Animus, Raven and Coriander in particular) but I am fond of them all.

I'd love to get just 5 more because i like even numers and 30 sounds "better" than 25, i think the main culprit for stable filling are exotic pets which tend to take lots of space and can be used only on one spec, a nice "middle" solution could be to just create some "exotic" only page that wont count toward the 25 we have now, an "exotic only" call pet tab would also be nice especially for those of us who run around with two different specs and may end up using Stampede as survival or BM and end up only calling two pets because the rest are exotic (or they could make Stmapede summon them regardless, can't try this on beta can someone plese confirm how it works please?).
Regardless of Stampede, anyway, something like running around with only two pets because the other three with you are exotic is still a bit annoying and...and...since i'm here ...

I admit I had to look up the model names because I'm so used to their nicknames. And yeah, I'm not always creative. ¯\(°_o)/¯

Several of them I know I can part with, even if I don't particularly want to. The only one I can't recall the nickname for (oops!) can go, and I could be convinced to part with Ashtail and Snaps. Push come to shove I'd release Tasha out of my spirit beasts, but I don't really want to. I named her after the dog I grew up with. I could part with Kalli, and Although I'm not really a fan of the model itself, I had a lot of fun with getting Worth, so I don't really want to part with him.

Plenty of these pets Kal doesn't actually have, I just like them as pets enough to want them handy on my main. I have a troll that I haven't touched since some time during Wrath, and I know he has the red cloud serpent and one of the (nelf) druid flightform pets, as well as one of those ant silithid. I may delete him altogether in favor of my pandaren.

I have a dreanei hunter I haven't touched since... I think pre-wrath. She's rockin the ghost saber-cat (Ellipsis) and has a stable full of white pets.

My other hunter I leveled so our guild would have a capped goblin, and he has a green themed stable, with a few exceptions. I admit I can't remember all of his, but since he got Ghostcrawler (my goal for him) I haven't really touched him other than for banking. I doubt I'll continue leveling him, unless we need a capped goblin again. Unless the green cranes become tameable, I doubt I would tame anything else on him.

I know I want the black crane, and probably the others. I want a porcupine, though I'm undecided on color. I want a black tiger, and possibly a red one. Out of the pets we know are going to be tameable, at least.
