Ooh, neat! That would look terrible on my character, but I love the look of it. Way more than I thought I would, actually, which pretty effectively sums up my feelings toward the stone quilen skin itself. XD

It's probably my least favourite (just to be contrary!) but it's still very pretty
I just want to add, thanks for all your work and for sharing these. Personally this has been, by far, the best armour concept art I've seen. It's been so exciting to see it go from imagination to full image.

Heee, thanks for indulging me! <3<3 Somehow, the simple gray base brings out the curls in both the pet and the armor.
Which explains why that particular skin is starting to grow on me. x_x

This grey one is astounding, and easily my favourite. Wow! Absolutely beautiful.

The Quilen one is looking plate to me. Also, slightly Aztec.

I just wanted to add to my previous post that while the Quilen one looks plate and Aztec (while still well done, not fitting IMHO), the Mantid one looks absolutely great and I'd love to have that tier. While on Andinne I would probably stick with Gronnstalker, Zhinru (after getting to 90) would have to get at least a LFR version of that set.

You know I could But for the amount of time I took to do it, i could come up with a completely new design all together

Yes, your right, it does look very "plate" like, as I followed the direction of what a friend thought would look cool, not what would look like mail armor specifically. Though one could also argue that skinning a red cycloped giant and using his eye ball as a hat, hardly depicts that of "mail armor" either imho. I guess the Mantid one follows this "skinning" theme more so (just chunk of bugs stuck together), but wow designers/designs really like to use that design style for some of their mail armor.
As for Aztec, there are a lot of swirls in the design (there are not really many other massive key design elements to the quilen (swirls, stone, swirls, bracers, swirls, stone, swirls... ?) Maybe there is a cross over there with the Aztec?, though I was trying to be true to the "stone beast" i was trying to emulate.
Which parts in particular to you think make it look too Aztec? I'd love to see how/what others interpret from whats aspects of the design

I think just stripping the Quilen out of the beast bits and leaving just the stone elements and motives ended up with this kinda Aztec feeling. I don't have an exact science to it, just my general feeling from those pictures.
I get your point, though to me Gronnstalker is quite obvious what it is: you skinned an evil giant cyclops. Most hunter sets look like "you skinned X". The Quilenstalker doesn't scream "you skinned a Quilen" - while I can see what you took from a Quilen, looking at it at first glance feels like just stone pieces glued together.

Crabs have shells you can take off. Bit hard to do that with something thats pure stone

If it's moving, it's clearly not just pure, solid stone. If it's elastic enough to move around, it's elastic enough to be skinned.

It could be pure, solid magic stone. I don't think you would be able to skin a stone one.

Well, here it goes. "Magic". I would say why I don't like "magic" as an end-all explanation for everything but people would think I'm getting aggressive again. So, in short: "magic" should never be all the explanation for something happening.
Anyway. Quilen set = great looking, great art, but not fitting a hunter IMO. Mantid set = fantastic.

No no, it's all good Andine, I agree with you on the Quilen set, it does look very "Plate"ish, in fact that was a concern I raised with my friend originally when I started it. I had two ways to go with it.... do I base it on a Organic Quilen, and have fur/mane on the armor, and possibly parts that resemble the beasts (eg /skinned) or do I take it down the Stone Quilen path, and have it look like imperial, impenetrable and regal stone armor...? And yeah, the second one was the choice made.
It is in line with most prior hunter armor sets? Not overly, but then some do step outside those bounds (the Scourge Stalker set was very "platey" imo too). This one was more of a dream set inspired by the stone Qulien and directed by a friend. I'm just super glad he liked it as with others too ^.^
If you could pick a "MOP ***** Stalker" set, what theme would you like to see?
