Random, but I got a closer look at the eyes of the brown tabbies and the pale tabby. They have the most gorgeous eyes I've ever seen. The brown tabbies have sort of muddy green-brown eyes, but up close there are spots and flecks of yellow and blue thrown in; they remind me of faded world maps, for some reason. Gorgeous. The pale kitten's eyes, while at first glance just a pretty blue, actually have some yellow in the centers.
I want to keep them alllllllll. /flops (Out of the question by the way.)

Gah they are all so precious! <3 And so are your chickens! My mother would be so jealous (heck, I'm jealous, hehe)! She's always telling me stories of how great the chickens she had growing up were.

We took the kittens to an adoption event. None got adopted, though some other kittens did, which is a victory I suppose. They looked too young to leave their mom, seeing as they tried to nurse the entire time. >.> Of course, mommacat is fixed…
They're doing fine, though, and getting more and more friendly. The dullest of the brown tabbies has to be part ragdoll or something. Whenever you pet the spot between his front legs, he just melts. It's so cute.
They all went to get shots and were very good about it, which was surprising, as I thought they'd be terrified. Dull brown kitten HATES the crate (he messed up my hand once, and the second time he just flipped out whenever the crate moved) but after holding and petting him for a while, he went back in the crate without any issue and was very calm. Hoping that it's a good sign.

They are all so pretty! That middle one looks just like my cat Minnie. Shows you how common tabbies are!

Wow they're getting so big! And it sounds like they're becoming more and more social. Hopefully they'll all find loving homes soon.

Hope so! My mom brought up the VERY TENTATIVE option of keeping the pale kitten. Momma cat has a home on the way. So we will need to see if we can take care of another cat, and if not, we still need to find four homes. <.>

Might as well update- two of the kittens, the darker striped brown tabby and the pale tabby, were both adopted. Just down to three cats now!

That's the pale one in your latest picture of them nursing, right? Reminds me of the blue point ragdoll on Cats 101, so I think your ragdoll comment might be onto something :3 Very pretty. I'm glad that the eyes cleared up (for mother and kittens) and I'm glad that you've been working so hard to get them socialized and give them homes! What a wonderful outcome for a family-less pregnant stray.

I'm so glad that the kitten placement organization we're working with doesn't adopt to people who plan to declaw. I've been shocked by just how many people want to- everyone that even showed a little interest was planning to declaw. Luckily the two that did adopt understood why it wasn't allowed and signed some papers, so at least there's some assurance that the kittens will be keeping their toes. >.<
I didn't realize declawing was so popular here. x.x

.... Ew. :/ Now that's just cruel. I just view declawing as abuse... Glad that you found some people who are understanding.

I dont think declawing is so bad considering there are WAY worse things that could happen.. My oldest cat was declawed when we found her, my second cat we got declawed because he played "rough" with the oldest one who couldnt use her claws back so he scratched her all up, the youngest is declawed(I guess you could call it that?) as well because when she was found she was a baby with bloody paws and her claws were gone.. Still dunno what happened to them but she was malnourished as well and only a few weeks old found all alone.

I can't stand declawing. So glad it's banned here <3 it's considered animal cruelty here and they will only allow it under extreme circumstances. And I mean VERY extreme circumstances.
Anyway glad your kitties have gone to a new home and I hope they have a happy nice long life!.

It's banned in Germany, too (and I think in most european countries) and also cunsidered animal cruelty. Sometimes you can hear of a case of declawing, because of the American soldiers that still live in Germany. I think they don't know it's not allowed here. I can't imagine my cats without their claws. They need them for climbing even though they are indoor cats. I sometimes get scratched, but I don't mind it.

I'm glad they're starting to find homes

They're incredibly lucky they had you.
I had no idea declawing was a real thing, though on reflection it shouldn't surprise me. If people will slice up ears and tails for vanity then declawing to save your furniture isn't too surprising. Sad though.

It's not only that. It's used for scenting things and it's how they stretch properly. It would be horrible to never be able to get a good stretch in ever again. ._. Claws are more than just for scratching, they're for physical and mental health.

Oh, sure.

I just mean the excuse as to why people would do it. If they'll cut off parts of their pets for vanity, then it's not surprising they'll do it to save damage to their furniture, even if it's horrible.
