OMG

OMFG

iWant

NAO~!!
a new final druid flight form model
Not likely I'd say, although maybe, if we get an item like the firecat staff again.

I'd put my bet on achievement mounts, although I'm not sure yet what kind of achievement. Or maybe split between raid drop and achievements?

For me, it's not just the saddle. It's the anatomy of the beast. Blizzard seems to try to keep tameable things in a certain scale. The only pet that clips onto our characters are chimaeras, every other beast stays in a certain little... "box" with varying degrees of height. These birds have a very large wingspan, so I just don't see it. And sure, you could make the bird smaller, but then it just starts to look silly.
I feel Blizzard really tries to keep pets a certain scale, with the exception of a few beasts.

The model is very reminiscent of a phoenix (regardless what they might call 'em) and uses existing phoenix model as a base. Blizzard has made it rather clear that they do not want hunters taming phoenixes or dragons and the like. There's also the size and posture it has as well as the "saddle problem." The model itself looks rather "epic" and something that's probably raid or achievement related if the old habits stay intact in MoP.

All these signs together makes it seem very unlikely that there's going to be a tameable version of it.

All that aside, oh man oh man oh boy. I would really love to have the first one! Please be something obtainable for me who plays on a server where it's impossible to find a decent guild unless you're italian. D: /cry

Blizzard could simply make it walk on it's two legs like a Peacock and other Fowls, and when you sent it to attack something, would get up and fly to said target.

I'm well aware of that. However, this may not be called a Pheonix (MMO Champion is not Blizzard mind you, they called it a Pheonix because it resembles a Pheonix, for all we know Blizzard may call it a Pandaren Peacock).

Incidentally, the images are based off a bird known as the Fenghuang. The 'Chinese Phoenix'. And yes, they are described as having the tail of a peacock.
Between this and the fact they've said phoenix/dragons are unlikely to become pets...I think these are unlikely to become pets. Not to mention anatomy--the wingspan would be a bit prohibitive, unless they want Chimera 2.0 (my first one already annoys some of my guildies as it is).

Can go the other way around, why are you so insistent that we can't personally see it as a pet? o_O

I know how peafowl walk. ;)
And yes, they could do that. They could also do that with a BUNCH of other pets... but I don't see it happening. I'm not trying to offend you or anything, I'm just being realistic based on what Blizzard has done int he past, while still keeping an open mind that sure, maybe it's possible.

Yeah, it's not that we DON'T want it as a pet, just that we don't think it will be one.

Is it possible that one of these pheonixes are going to be the reward for the guild raid achieve?
Or has it already been said what the reward is, Haven't really heard anything about that.
(is there even a guild achieve for raids yet?)

From what I understand, Cloud Serpents will be the Achievement mount this Expansion, much like the Drakes were in Woltk.

Well we got the Dark one for this expack so I'd say yes? Don't quote me on that!

I wonder if there is mobs of this what their death animation will be like. I can't remember what the elemental ones look like

Oh dear. As much as I love them, that tail is almost a dealbreaker. It's so… incredibly… FLAT. Like, board stiff, and thin as paper. >.< I have hopes that it will be fixed!

With the model being 98% made up of a model that does not possess a walking animation (the missing 2% is the addition of legs that dont seem to have any voluntary movement and also the tail which was also by the looks of it a spliced addition since the original model's tail is more like waving tendrils), these guys will not be able to walk. Theres just too much against it having a walking animation with it being an entirely new skin but an old model, theres a chance that editing the skeleton of the model would force blizz to re-edit the skin to make it mesh better :/ Quilin are a huge example of such tampering

I...personally dont think they should be pets..at all. They're phoenix's and to me those are like dragons. I'd NEVER want anyone to tame a dragon or a phoenix. I see them both as sentient. I think if anything they should be mounts.. The idea of a hunter taming something so legendary as a phoenix just puts me off personally.

Just as a side note, this is the file name:
Image
MMO-Champ normally tells us what the thing is based on the file name. They're a very trustworthy site for resources. :)

So, I'm definitely leaning to what Kurasu said earlier:
