As you probably know, the original kodo mounts are getting a lovely update in Legion. So far, it's just the basic ones, not the armoured versions.

On Warcraft Mounts we've modified the pages for the kodos to be able to show the images for current and upcoming versions in parallel. By default it shows the old (current) mount, but the upcoming, updated model images can be viewed by clicking the thumbs under the red heading. The two versions have been shot in exactly the same poses, with the thumbs lined up so that you can click on an original in the top row and then the update under it and see the one transform into the other. Hopefully it gives you an appreciation of how gorgeous the update is, while still feeling much like the original kodo. I really think they're brilliant.

It's no mistake that the purple kodo is missing new model shots on our site. They don't seem to have added an updated skin for that one (yet!). Similarly the unused old looks I've called "Grey-Green Kodo" and "Yellow Kodo" don't have new equivalents, but those two were actually designed for a non-mount kodo model with drums. They did work perfectly well on the mount, though. They have the harness and saddle and all. But it's probably less surprising they didn't add new versions for the mount.

There's no word yet on whether we'll see updates to the armoured versions, or perhaps the basic mounts of other races. If they do, I hope they're as great as these. I'll be excited to see what they do

Maybe they'll consider bringing them back some day. The situation back then was quite different to how it is today. Mounts weren't the same level of collectible... each one took up precious bag space. The artists had just made some cool new armoured models for the second tier of racial mounts and so simply replaced the old, basic-model ones ton the vendors. They actually actively encouraged people to give up the old ones by offering a free trade-in deal. In hindsight you'd be crazy to give them up if you were a collector, but it was impossible to know back then.

I hope they consider not only the ground, but the flying vanilla mounts too. Many places still use the original Wyvern, which while I love the design/concept, sorely needs a face lift. I quite liked the "Grand" versions of them, but they weren't overly true to the original. That and if they just swapped them over, the Tawny Wind Rider and the Grand Wyvern would be the same mount with a different name.

I'd really like to see a less grand version of these, a version more true to the original, like they have done with the Kodos.
Remove the Horns, Shorten the Giant Teeth, Orange eyes, Trimmed Beard, Return of the Leopard Spots, etc.

Something like this would make me pretty happy
