TygerDarkstorm: It's probably not your monitor. When you work on accents, you start on a 750x750 canvas, but to save the accent you have to scale it down to 350x350. Thus, colors, etc. that look good at the larger size, don't always scale down equally as well. So I find I need to edit a bit to make up for this sometimes. The dark roses looked fine at 750x750, but scaled down they looked far too dark. Tarn agreed and I lightened them and the wing design up to be visually brighter on the smaller scale.

zedxrgal: Thanks! It was different than anything I've tried yet. I had fun doing it with the exception of the skull, which was a bit of a pain in the rear. I'm still not sure it will successfully pass the first submission being so light, but we'll see. *fingers crossed* I have yet to get a rejection on an accent and I'm hoping my luck holds!

I FINALLY found a mate for my Zacarius. The only problem is her secondary just wasn't working for me. So this was my first attempt at a skinscent/skin. Here is the intended dragon, as well as what it would look like on the intended dragon, and a SS of the skin by itself.



A very expensive project all in all. I also have yet to see if an accent that is close to an already created gene will pass. I've made edits to it, so I'm hoping so. Time will tell! Hopefully I'll have a confirmation or denial in 5-7 days. *Fingers crossed*

Ashaine: Ah, gotcha, that makes sense then. Love your new accent/skincent! I hope they accept it. I agree with Tarn, it would be fun to see you do accents/skins for the holidays.

I've been thinking of making an accent to fund my desperate plea for gems. I'm pondering wildclaw. Possible ideas are unicorn/my little ponies stylized per flight or perhaps zebra? Ideas are welcome! <3

Here's a current WIP, unicorn accent I've been toying with. Not sure if I like it or not though. I swear I have artist block lately.
The wings are semi-transparent so a dragon's real wing color should show through. It's definitely an experiment. I also toyed with layers for the horn glow effect. Hopefully I didn't fork that up.
Anyway, opinions and helpful/constructive criticism welcome! Just please be nice, I've really been struggling with this one and I've already scrapped about 10 drafts to get to this point. I swear I'm my own worst critic.

Thats one really pretty Imo justcirous to how it would look on dragons with carribean hue terts? (the same color as the horn) I love the clouds on the wings!

I submitted a new version of one of my older accents today. Made it look even more fox-like. I named it Vulpera. Hopefully the blacks aren't too dark over the shadows & lineart. The devs can be pretty picky about that and I don't relish the idea of having to go back and lighten it. *fingers crossed*

It was apparently a bit over the 31% to be an accent, so I had to cut some elements. Hopefully it will pass this time! ♥

I've been toying around with a new accent/skin for Tarn. Figured I would share my current WIP here. No shading or highlights have been added yet, so this is a very rough draft at this point. Tarn has yet to approve it for finishing touches. If approved, I will go back in and shade & highlight so the chains, compass rose, etc. are more visible. ♥

Update II.



I filled in the chains, added some edging to the wing, highlights to the face and top of the wings, added some map texture to the little bit of wing I missed, and added a ship on her shoulder (because it just looked a bit bare to me - but I'm not sure what should be there). It still needs some shading, but my fingers are cramping (chains will be the death of me) and I need a break. So I'm off to make brunch for the hubby and I while Tarn approves the latest progress.

. . Small questions. The map pattern on her back has an X. It's just to indicate where treasure is burried and not a cross ?

Ship on shoulder is not a bad idea! I like it.

Indeed! It's definitely a treasure map! I just laid it partially transparent over the wings. I can add some dashes leading up to the X (like most treasure maps have) if you want? ♥

There's one on her upper wing (mostly hidden by the chains) and one on the lower wing. I can also remove them if you prefer? Just let me know!
