Step 1: Design your character in model viewer
Step 2: Make a screenshot in the desired position
Step 3: Open that screenshot in Photoshop (or other rather good graphics program)
Step 4: Remove the background
Step 5: Make an outline in black, but choose the position to be middle, width 3 pixels, color black
Step 6: Use the filter that emphasizes edges and separates colors ("Tontrennung und Kantenbetonung" in german)
Step 7: Lean back and enjoy.

Well, I was aiming for a reddish hair color. The bubblegum-pink didn't work, so I chose this color.
I think the earthfury shaman set goes well with a warlock, don't you? ;)

I updated the warlock with a succubus. Take a look.

This is only a screen test of how a page would look like.
Opinions welcome!

Edit: Updated pictures.
Edit 2: Improved look slightly and updated all pages.

Ah it looks so good!!!!!! Wow, that title page is very impressive. Seems like I would see that on the front of a comic in a store. :D

Thinking of a career in comics, Kara? It really is good.

Thank you.
But a career in comics would mean I'm drawing these by hand.

It's all model viewer and photoshop, that's all.

Comics can be made up of photos and such too, these things count Kara. A comic is a series of pictures. These are series of pictures.

Well, this is like writing the Boktor-stories...

If you do it for fun, it's fun.
If you have to do it, it stars to get a pain in the a... uhm... you know where. ;)

But, I'll be honest: I was surprised at how good they actually turned out! :D

I like it, but just a tip, it's grass, so having a dustcloud around the tallstriders doesn't really fit. Other than that, awesome!

I can't even add anything at the moment.

OK people,

a friend of mine is drawing comics since I know him and he is my friend since 1983. He has done a lot of funnies and I talked to him about how to design and layout a page of a comic. I really got a lot of ideas out of him and some of them have been used when I have reworked the cover and first page. I will go to rework the other two pages as well when I have time for that. Please check the new ones out and compare them to the old versions and tell me what you think.

Edit: I think I'm finally getting close to the look I like.

I like the new finish, especially on the cover. It's much more graphic novelesque in terms of the color palette and consistency. The last two panels, with the paladin coming out of the ground, look a little off to me in that he now almost glows with brightness. The overall finish on the page is improved, but I like how he blended in more in the original version.

Now that is strange...
I only zoomed in on him and didn't make him any brighter.

I thought about giving him a dirty look because he comes out of the earth but then I couldn't find a way to pull it off in a blending, eye comforting way.

This is the first time I ever tried to make a comic, so I'm rather pleased with the results so far. But keep criticism up, it only can give new ideas and improve the style.

Ooooh! I see what happened!

You zoomed in closer, making him larger in the frame, so more of the bright colors are visible. The framing is better, but the result was a slightly brighter texture.

Sorry for not realizing sooner; it's hard when they're not side by side. :)
