I tried to time it with an explosive trap so that the wolf died as it was tamed. It worked, but the buff was still lost.

/shrug

Giving up for now, went and got my old white Death Howl because I miss him <3 Soriid is rather meh to me anyway.

Irime wrote:Heya all,

After got a million question about my wolf, here is what I know about it.

The buff is just cosmetic, only the visual effect is on the wolf, compared mine with the rest of wolfs have the same stats, armor, etc...

And the way I got it, I was leveling Irime and just had a tank pet on my stable (a gorilla). I saw this wolfs and tamed over 100 (can not remember the number exactly, but i know was over 100 cause i counted till that number and short after it got it), till I got the pet with the buff. If can help in any way, at that time i did not made the quest with this wolfs involved, the one you must feed them.

Hope this helps =)

Just a couple of more questions if possible Irime :)

If you can remember,

1) Did you use a freezing trap when taming your wolf?
2) Did you hit/hurt the wolf at all before you tamed it?
3) About how much time did you take once you tagged the mob before you tried to tame it... eg. Straight away, 15 seconds in, 30 seconds in?

Thanks for your help in this very curious case. :D

Spiritbinder, I don't think Irime is coming back. AFAIK she just joined to post that little story up.

Anyhow, I've been trying to use various tinkers while taming. Getting blasted by rocketboots in the face might help the wolf keep the oil...?

i haven't been keeping track of how many i've been getting, but i'll say i spent about two hours last night 'farming' these, and i've been doing this all morning today, still not a single one.

Either Irime got EXTREMELY lucky and his pet glitched, or he lagged somehow

or this is (sorry, not trying to be rude) a big sorta scheme to waste everyone's time.

i just tried d/cing while taming, still nothing.
i think i've given up now.
we didn't really get much information on it.
a little more detail would have been nice ;\

kinda bummed that i was so juiced about the possibility of FINALLY having a unique pet, and then my hopes just kinda got dropped to the floor lol ;C

1) Did not used any kind of traps
2) Did not harm the wolf as far as i remember
3) I just targeted the mob and clicked the tame ability at max range... after did so many times was a mechanical action =P

Did no remember having any kind of lag at the time doing the taming.

Sorry if i can not help more with this stuff, but nothing out the normal way to tame a beast was used, just repeating the tame until I got it.

Thanks for the reply Irime.

Looks like it may not be the easiest thing to repeat by the looks of it, but congrats on your very lucky tame ;)

With this many people testing, we really should have results by now. I mean, not even the rocketboots worked!

Methinks this might be a hoax.

yeah got to agree... or its seriously a bug/glitch or something. not sure what server the main poster is on but, i have one in on nesingwary saying i saw someone that had the pet with a the oil stain coat aura, and was wondering if it is possable or is it a glitch/bug and they just got lucky. i even had a friend go with me incase its something the owners cant see, and nope nuttin.

I may try this tonight since I'm already in the area doing low levels. My suspicion is this person got EXTREMELY lucky and caught it on a glitch like the full size pet bug that happens every once in a great while. This may also be worth while to try after server maintenance.

yeah my friend in the guild had his devilsaur bug and it was SOOO freakin huge... But i think its a glitch or bug... that is the only time i have ever seen it ( the pic) other then that in game. never seen it. i tamed alot of em last night and no dice. and i know it will be a while before i get a gm responce.

I've been trying and using all the well known lag effects like window dragging and even tried unplugging my modem mid-tame. Nothing seems to be working for me. /sadface

maybe this is just a serious glitch, like getting into the tank in ironforge's deepram tram, does anyone know if there was any patches into between the time irime tamed and now maybe they removed the glitch in the patch.........

Well, the "Oily Coat" buff is applied at 20 seconds, right? And base tame is 20 seconds? She said she's taming from max range.

What if they cast it 20 secs after they get into melee range, and he cast it just as the tame finished? Maybe the tame lagged and only removed one of the two buffs, or something...

When I did it, I tried timing it so that the tame finished while the "oily coat" buff was up. I hit it several times, but with no luck.
