Hee, it's totally fine to love your wolf! :D We're just brainstorming really. The idea just really struck me as having merit, and though I use my Devilsaur anyways, I enjoy seeing pet variety so I would love to see something along the lines of Edrawr's suggestion. ^^

in dat case! Get rid of cunning and place em in either dps tree or tanking tree!

no wait... none of em would fit in the tanking tree...and they would lose wolverine bite and stunn reduction...>: that wasent a good idea.

Nooooo, need cunning pets.

If pets could spec between the trees, THAT would be ideal. Then we're bringing the pet, not the tree, which fits with the "bring the player, not the class" mentality. That would be the death of the family abilities and the uniqueness between pets, but at least we could bring who we wanted wherever we wanted.

Tremble before the might of Sheldon - Ferocity Turtle of Doom! His giant green shell is the last thing you see before being gummed to death! Muahahaha! Epic, simply epic.

That would probably solve a lot of the problems, but I honestly like skills like Spirit Strike and Shell Shield and all that. But I understand how trying to come up with all these unique abilities is pushing one or two pets up and above the rest in terms of usefulness. Ah, if only there were a happy median!.....

Yeah, I love those abilities too. :/ And shell shield really only makes SENSE on a turtle. (That goes for the shape as well as the name.)

But I do love the concept of ferocity turtles....

My "fix" to having multiple trees for the pets is....giving the family a different ability for each tree.

*wince*

Yes, I know, that's a TON of work and there would be craploads of overlaps. -_-

I love that idea of ferocious howl being a pet talent... been trying to suggest that for ages. If not, then what about a BM hunter talent. That way all the non bm hunters can keep their wolves, and us poor bm hunters can "train" any pet to use it. It would even out the BM tree a bit. Blizz can even make it non stacking with a regualr wolf buff.

Blizzard have stated that they don't want us to have any more burst. By adding FH into all BMs, we would get even more burst. Only adding it to Ferocity pets would work however, since those are'nt involved in PvP a lot.

Besides, not even SV or MM hunters like their wolves that much. A very large portion of the non-BM community I know would love to get rid of their wolves and get, say, a Cat or a Bird of some kind. Right now however that just ain't happening. :(

I'm a freak because I actually do like my wolf. If they took the buff off I'd still like him & would use him. They're just cute, i like dogs. Still I wish there wasn't such an eyeball on the hunter in the group and what we bring. Personally if I was grouped in raid or dungeon with a hunter who brought an odd animal I wouldn't care. As long as everyone gets through and and gets some nice loot, doesn't disturb the tank's ability to work, really why does it matter so much ? :\ it's a game we should be able to have fun.
