Someone over there actually nailed it - instead of making tame exotics the new core ability, just leave intimidation right where it is... and make tame exotics a new passive ability, like sheath of light for ret paladins.

Presto! A change that couldn't possibly be simpler for Blizzard to implement, or have less balance impact, yet would make a huge difference to anyone wanting exotics to be part of their pre-69 game.

To anyone who would like to see this happen I encourage you to head over to the forums and lend your support...

This is what I posted on both topics.

An easy solution (like suggested a few times) would be to put Beastmastery (onlt the tame exotic part)as a passif bonus you get from chosing BM (heck, even the text you read before you chose the specs say BM can tame more pets than the other two trees, so why get them 60 lvls later only?), leave Intimidation there too as we do need an active skill.

And for the 31 pointer, which would have the +4 pet talent points baked into it, put back Rhumba! That talent was the closest thing to a BM specific shot that we had until it was removed from the talent tree. I'm sure lots of us would be glad to see it come back, and it would fit well as a last talent in the tree.

You could also make cosmetic glyphs for it too, just to give us some variations instead of always seeing rattlesnakes. Those glpyhs could change them to other critters like squirrels, skunks, rabbits, racoons, prairie dogs, cats, etc.

Makes a lot of sense to do things that way if exotics AREN'T getting uber-buffed.

It would, but at least we'd have gotten our 2 cents in. I'd rather have us voice our concerns now and put in some suggestions, only to find out later that blizz had something particular in mind all along, then have them think we are fine with things the way they are and never get a chance to have some true input ;P

But after all the noise about fixing the "mandatory pet" problem, do you really think they would standardize wolves ... and then turn around and force (by the same token raid hunters currently are "forced" to take wolves at least) BM hunters to all take exotics...?

Seems a lot more likely they will continue giving them small perks here and there but nothing earthshattering enough to prevent regular pets from competing power-wise.

Seems like we've all managed to reach a pretty good accord in the hunters forum, now it's just the suggestions forum thread that's still being debated...

... and I use that word generously as it's really only being opposed by just one guy who seems to be punchdrunk and arguing for the sake opposing any change whatsoever.

I probably will in a while it's just that I'm stuck here late at work and procrastination is very appealing.

lol, mostly I was annoyed by his facade of sarcasm he hid behind, the way he stretched things people said out of proportion, and then started calling everyone a troll.
It doesn't make for a good debate IMO :/

To play devils advocate here, he seemed to be misunderstanding the point of the thread. I tried to clarify, but I think he might have actually left at this point.

Then again I saw him make an extremely sarcastic/trollish post in another thread of the suggestions forum, so maybe he was just trollin'

In the hunter's thread there were plenty of non-trolls who disagreed with us initially but were open minded enough to still find common ground when we talked about moving exotic tames to a passive rather than messing with initimidation. Rankin OTOH was just looking for a fight, e.g. skipping right past anything that struck home and responding only to the bits he could think of some kind of weak retort to.

First he tried saying this would leave the +4 pet talent points all by its lonesome, then when I called him out on that lame noise, he switched over to "but passives must change the hunter's playstyle" as if there was some golden bible of inescapable cataclysm design truths that would be violated. Or something. He was having trouble forming a coherent sentence by then, and shortly afterward he kind of just started whimpering and finally blubbered something about leaving "GOOD DAY SIR".

... only I see he has found his way back. Ahhh, the punch & judy show continues!

There is a couple of threads up about this on the WoW Forums (much thanks Worba ^_^) . If you are a hardcore BM fan to the bone and all that jazz and want your voice to be heard go there. ;D
