Yep, my pics are from the current PTR build.

I just went and checked The Beast's status on Beta. I, uh, found out why your pets are missing their boss tag. In the wild (so to speak) he's not a boss anymore. Just a regular level 60 elite.

Thanks for the information Moonlost - let's hope that gets reversed before it goes live however...

Aww, poor Beast.

It'll be sad to see the Boss tag go, but I'm not overly upset. He'll always be The Beast to me, and I've had my time with him showing off his ?? status. ^^

Aww. But you know, it makes sense. It's not really a real raid anymore. We're lucky that he's staying in the game at all. I'd rather still be able to visit Beastie than not be able to and have him keep his boss tag. And I totally agree with Veph; The Beast is still The Beast. DaBeast has his own personality.

So thank you for letting us know, Moonlost! That definitely is an intentional change and it's good to be able to start adjusting now.

*grabs onto something as the floor shakes and DaBeast enters*

Err. Yes. DaBeast indicates that he'll gladly sacrifice his "boss" tag in favor of keeping Eyes of the Beast, since he knows he's a boss regardless of labels.

(The two things have nothing to do with each other, but that's his preference.)

Updated the title of the thread so people see the change.

Summary: In Cataclysm The Beast will no longer posses a ?? Boss status after taming (this applies to any Beasts already tamed, they will change also).

Already tamed Beasts from Live are showing up as "boss ??" on PTR.

Already tamed Beasts from Live are showing up without the "boss ??" tag on Beta?

(I didnt have The Beast tamed at the time of my Beta character copy)

If the above is correct, I am so sad ;_; I just did all that work specifically for the Boss tag XD Oh well, I will still always know he's The Beast >:D Loot the Corehound will always be Boss in my eyes!

Yep, you're correct. It seems that once cataclysm fully hits, the beast is being downgraded to a plain-old elite and, as a result, tamed Beasts will loose the tag as well.

Happy to be of service all, sorry it isn't better news.

DaBeast would like it to be known that he will ALWAYS be a raid boss, regardless of what any "label" says. The same goes for any of his beastie brethren.

(He's very proud of himself; you can tell by how he walks.)

He would also like to announce that this is all related to his becoming a daddy in Cataclysm. He needed to take up a less dangerous line of work in order to be a proper father to his corepuppies.

Come on now.... give credit where credit is due. I posted about him not being labeled "Boss" on the beta back in the middle of page 2...

Ok, I tested it on the beta. It seems that The Beast no longer retains his Boss tag any longer. I heard he still has it on the PTR.

But not the beta.

So I am guessing that means he will no longer have the Boss tag... I am pretty sure his ID will stay the same but he will more than likely lose his Boss tag either on beta and/or retail.

This just in.... The Beast no longer has his Boss tag.

What a bummer.

Just in case you missed it... The Boss tag of The Beast is no longer on him on beta.

This makes me sad. Like almost he's not worth taming anymore cause he's just another corehound. He's not a rare spawn like King Krush. If he were, it'd be more worthwhile.

Pent....you reported it first, yes, Darknez actually reported it first, but Moonlost is the one who discovered WHY he was no longer a boss and confirmed that it is, in fact, NOT A BUG.

*nods* The confirmed reason was the nail in the coffin so to speak, we were all hoping perhaps it was some sort of bug or glitch before. There were multiple people who came together to investigate this whole thing further and eventually the pieces formed a whole. It's all to get the info out to the community, I don't think anyone's trying to claim to be 'first'.

It doesn't matter to me, really. I am more impressed that I stepped foot into BRS after a few years and remembered how to get there on my first try.

And I am still searching for my Spirit Beast King Krush that flies and bounces around on the ground like Tiggers do.... that would be an awesome pet to have.

Or a Blue Demon Dog/Wolf... whichever.

Lokes says that he doesn't mind. I mean...he'll get to have bloodlust, he says being a boss with bloodlust, that would just be greedy.

Awe That really sucks... Guess I'll run around with Boss out until then so I can enjoy his boss tag while it's still in game! In cata People may not ask about him anymore, but I know that he was the Beast and I suppose that's all that matters.

I really hope they keep it in though..
