If the hunt was easy, then it wouldn't be worth doing. It's a necessary cycle.

Kalliope is right on this one. That is why some rare spawns like the Clutchmother are gone and common tallstriders in the swamp are put in her stead but Sambas is a unique skin which will take the place of the rare removed.

Azunara wrote: If they stole from you while you were taming, fine. That's pretty evil and harsh. But a rare is a rare is a rare, and ANYONE is allowed at it. Do you leave some random rare out in the wild because you can't tame it? No, you end up killing it. Even if some achievement hunter has been looking for Old Crystalbark for example, for months, and you just killed him...Yeah. Look at how the tables turn.
So next time you argue because someone killed a rare you were camping, fair and square without griefing you, keep this in mind.
I completely agree with this. Hunters always complain about people mindlessly killing tameable rares because "How can they not realise how important these things are?!?!“ But then those same hunters mindlessly kill any non-tameable rare they come across because "Achievements? Why would I care?“
Also, have you ever thought about the possibility that the hunter you told about Loque only tames him on a whim, but doesn't really care? While that "killer" that you're so appalled by has been looking for him for months and would be totally ecstatic to finally find him? No, of course not, because you don't care about achievements, so no-one else should.
Personally, if I find a rare I don't want, tameable or not, and I know someone who's looking for it, who I know would be really happy to find it, for taming or for killing, I tell them. Otherwise,
I let that rare be. It's really not my place to decide who's worthy of finding rares.

While I don't like how rare pets are killed for no reason at all, I do sort of like them being part of achievements. When I tame them, it makes me feel like I've...well..achieved something.. I know other hunters will be after them too, but I guess I like all of the competition. Even from non-hunters.
Having these pets not have as much competition won't stop me from taming them, though.

Surely someone else feels the same way I do?

Agreed with this. Remember, if hardly any hunters see Loque (for example) on a server, then imagine the angst of the people going for Frostbitten (who are much greater in number).

Admittedly, I do find myself a bit irritated if I find a rare I've been camping for so long killed. Sure, I could understand wanting to kill it on a whim. I usually encourage people to see if they can find a Hunter looking for it first, but still. I remember one night camping Gondria, I was going on almost 12 hours... and well, I sadly missed her. I had flown down to tame her and a Paladin killed her. Now keep in mind I am lacking sleep, on my red cycle (The, uh, females of this forum will understand this...) and had a rather bad day... So I was irritable. I didn't loose it, but I gave him a sarcastic response when he said; "lol keeled it for achievement". He linked Frostbitten and I only told him to look harder on that list. He stood there for a couple minutes before hearthing. I did get a snicker out of that.
The good thing that came out of that was that I was able to catch her next spawn. Although this tear I fear (RHYME) won't really make a difference. =P

Skinning. hide the evidence of your evil deeds!
The wording on that Crystal Tear of Loyalty is so cringeworthy.
"The desire to serve as a loyal companion, coalesced into a single priceless crystal"
Apart from not being priceless - Vendors value it at 25g - I agree with an earlier poster in that this will likely encourage griefing.
Its grey, but doesnt seem to be BoP at all. Nasty types may well commision a collection of these.

This tear may also be compensation for the hunters who have their beasties tagged, but don't get the tame. :/

Awwwww, that tooltip brought a tear to my eye

I hope this goes live, it's a very poignant (and dev-thoughtful) addition.

I don't know if it's currently still the case, but earlier in beta rare mobs also gave a lot more experience than normal mobs. I killed some rare around level 15 and it gave roughly the same amount of exp as a quest at that level would.

Possibly because it was elite?

This wont stop jerks though who like to kill the rare in the middle of a tame just to be, well, jerks >.>
This happened to a friend before trying to tame King Krush, an ally dk came along and killed the mob even though my hunter friend had tagged it, so said DK had nothing to gain from it except to ruin my friends night :/
And to top it off, he flew around the hunter /farting and /loling.
Some peoples children I swear ><'

I think it is the sort of thing that will make a player who doesn't know any better go "Ooooh. Whoops." and then POSSIBLY avoid doing the same thing in the future to other pets.

And something important to remember, for Krush, when someone has Spell Effects at the lowest setting, the spell provides one heart every five seconds or so, and the hunte is pretty tiny. It is completely possible for someone to say "lol didn't c u" and not lie too.
