I was able to solo tame The Beast. Here is what i did:

Things to do before you head to UBRS:

1.Fill extra stable slots with trash pets (for me it was only 1 though hehe).

2.Pick up a stack of Potion of Speed. Also any +haste trinkets you might have.

3.Get some +stam/health buffs - i used a flask of stoneblood and a scroll of Stam as well as some Stam food. Also bring stacks of food and water to heal/mana up

4. Create 2 macros:

The first macro is-
/cast Beastial Wrath
/script PetAbandon()

The second macro is-
/use Berserking(Racial) ---If your not a troll take off this first line of the macro
/use Potion of Speed
/cast Tame Beast

Taming The Beast

Step 1. Take out your trash pet, walk over to the pile of hay in the corner of his room, make sure your are in the corner so he wont fear you.

Step 2. Let him walk out and when he does send your pet after him and hit him with scorpid sting.

Step 3. Target him and use macro number 1 stated above

Step 4. After the global cooldown Hit macro number 2 stated above. Be ready to hit it again if he interrupts your tame.

Step 5. If he does interrupt you keep pressing tame beast until- your speed pot runs out, your out of mana or your about to die. If any of these things happen FD, heal and mana up, pull out another trash pet and try again.

Notes

Use aspect of Viper for this tame.

I did try to time everything so that when i started taming him he was casting his fireball attack, that way he would -hopefully- charge me while BW is up (you will be immune to it) and by the time BW is over he should be casting fireball again which will give you enough time to finish the tame.

It may take lots of tries before you get lucky with the interrupts, it took me about 20 failed attempts before i finally got him. Just keep at it, it will be frustrating, but if it was easy where would be the fun in that? :)

Also if you run out of trash pets just walk back down to LBRS and tame one of the worgs there. (just to the right a little ways from the entrance)

After tamed he stays lev ?? Boss- but will do the same dmg of any pet lev 75-80 (its hard to tell if he does lev 80 dmg or 75, maybe someone better with numbers can figure it out) I assume lev 75 dmg myself.

Also when you zone into an instance he is SUPER big for a few seconds before going back to his normal pet size. Freaked out my group hehe.

Good Luck to all who try to tame him!! - Hope this helps

Hmmm... Sounds like I might have to go and try that out for myself.. Being able to keep the boss tag is what I became a Hunter for.. You have given joy back to my hunter.. All my tames were Rares and elites..
When Blizz nipped that in the butt, I almost gave up the game... Blizzard doesn't like Hunters anymore!!!... When you have the title elite on a pet it shows the extra effort you put in to get the pet; the many, MANY hours of sitting watching the same patch of ground (I spent 17 hours in one day, online, not botting or logging in and out every hour..Waiting for Arcturis); while all your friends are grinding away at quests and things..

Beast Master can do quite well, even in Raids at 80. I raided all the way through Ulduar as BM and regularly beat out the other Hunters in my Guild who were SV or MM. Even in ICC there are fights where it can outdo the other 2 specs.

Well, I managed to nab this one tonight, and whew, what a challenge! Haste is wonderful, I did it when the haste elixir, 40 haste/stam food, and speed pots. No luck there... ended up bringing a shaman for earth shield, heroism, and wrath totem (which does work on tame, tested with and without) And I would like to point out. The knock back is unbelievable it goes off every few seconds and it makes you want to pull your hair out.

Anyway, it was a challenge which I like but my search continues on for a nice tank pet to take this ones place lol. Unfortunately I just don't care for core hounds. xD

I think you'd have to be around 65-66 minimal? Since The Beast is a vanilla Boss, they were usually about that many levels higher than max level.

You won't be finishing the tame at level 66 tough, he would OMGWTFPWN you pretty much instantly. You'll need to be 80, and have quite a bit of Sta and Haste to finish in time.

there is a perfect trap for taming. freezing trap. get the one that last 20 sec which is how long the taming process take.

Too bad bosses are immune to Freezing Trap. ;)

It's useless for The Beast.

Minutes ago I successfully tamed The Beast :D

It is ?? Skull level as reported :D

Now I have a question, will it still be a skull level after I level it up?

Or can it even level up? (It has the experience bar)

EDIT: Okay, so i decided to level it up, it maintained its skull and ?? :headbang:

A friend of mine tamed The Beast the other day, and we started to wonder "Hey, his ?? level display shows up on Beast Lore as well... I wonder if it affects his chance to be hit?"

So, we tested it (perhaps sloppily, but you be the judge.)

If we were correct in assuming that a level 80 hunter's pet would require 5% hit rating to be hit capped against it as a fellow level 80, then maintaining a hit rating between 5% and 8% (raid boss hit cap) would be required to test this.

Trying to keep as close to 5% as possible, I stripped off my gear until I was at 5.37% hit chance, turned on my recount, and fired 600 auto shots into Bob (he took it like a champ).

3 were misses. This would imply that Bob requires MORE than the standard 5% PvP hit cap.

Neither my friend or Bob were specced into anything that would reduce their chance to be hit. HOWEVER, he is a Night Elf, and thusly has [Quickness] (reduces the chance melee and ranged attacks will hit you by 2%). We are unsure if this transferes to the pet for some reason.

FURTHER TESTING IS GOING ON.
Please give any input.

TOTAL THE BEAST DATA:
5.37% hit rating, 1600 shots fired, 6 misses.

TOTAL BAT DATA:
5.37% hit rating, 1600 shots fired, 0 misses.

If your friend didn't "lvl" his pet to lvl 80 (lvl it up 5 times), it will display ?? but is actually lvl 75, that could explain why you didn't miss as much as you were supposed to :)

This sounds awesome. Now to decide which pet in my stables to get rid of. >_>

Oh, and does this guy retain the ?? tag even when he has been leveled to 80?

I can confirm that yes, his ?? status is not affected by levelling him. I was scared to to that too in case he lost it, but he keeps the Boss tag. :)

He did level his pet to 80 before testing- and having it a lower level would have had the opposite effect anyway (it would have made me miss MORE). I was hit capped against a level 80 target for our testing, so only something registering as over level 80 should have allowed me to miss.

So I tried the Beast today because I got tired of waiting for Skoll to come and find me. It was a disaster lol... next time I'll remember to bring a healer for some HoT's. My Gift of the Naaru didn't quite cut it. I also had another huinter pull and feign so I could miss the first fear and knockback attack... then had a warrior taunt him.. nothing worked. I'll try again another day.
