Not as bad as the pets named "Pwnsnoobs" and "Myfurissoft" and other nonsense.

Nah, it's just the fact that I'm an artist and if you're going to play a class who has to have something following around behind you and you don't want to name it.. but you still want ranged DPS, you have 2 other choices: Demonology Warlock or Frost Mage.

If you're going to name it, name it something creative and something that'll make people smile.

It seems like folks are getting a little defensive... Someone was expressing an opinion about someone else's choice, not necessarily judging them for it, and made no attempt to confront the person about it, which, to me, says the OP (Taluwen, iirc?) didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I imagine Tal's aim was more to vent (and perhaps find people who agreed with her point of view) rather than starting what seems to be turning into an argument over something that should never be argued about: opinions. Of course, those of you who have stated a different opinion (IE: "I think the name ReallyBigBee is perfectly acceptable") have a right to your opinion - I'm not saying you don't. My point is that there's no need for getting snippy over it. Let's all just agree to disagree, eh? :|

Being an artist means nothing. I am an artist. I am becoming an art teacher and hopefully some day a concept artist for a video game company. Being an artist has nothing to do with naming, since I like funny names as well as RP names, like I have already stated.

Its entirely individual, and has nothing to do if you are (or are not) an artist.

Either way people are entitled to their opinions, but I really dont see a reason to get upset over what someone else names a pet in a video game. Especially a video game THEY pay for. It's just something that doesnt bother me, except if they are using racist or offensive names.

Some names I name my pets are simple and nice some though for example 'xozoiath'(which is my beloved tiger cub from zul'gurub) are just exotic, I can't stand names like 'really big bee' but what can you say the majority of WoW players are thick headed and before you get me wrong I said the majority of them are not all people

I just don't like it when rare spawns are named after their original names. While trying to get Loque, I was spamming a macro and it found Loque! I WAS SO EXCITED! I flew down and was ready to tame and... got ganked by a hunter with a pet named Loque'nahak. ;___; I was very sad.

Other than that, someone had a pink tallstrider named Floyd and that made me smile. :D And also a worg named HairyPotter.

While I see where you're coming from, I often do this myself, as I feel that they were given an ingame name for a reason, and it just feels right leaving it as it is.

Hey it's your pet so name it however you want! :D I was mostly just sad about getting ganked and having to wait more on my rare spawn. :[

No no. No. I think I have a better example.
I just saw a belf hunter running around Org with a redish-brown Worg named JacobBlack.
I mean no offence to any Twilight fans but.... really? >.<

Eh, I find it a little obnoxious, especially out in the zone since it tends to make me think of 'hey! Look what /I/ got'. Or gankers do it to trick people and kill them. But hey, to each their own and I think that's the message at the end of the day. As well as the 'it's your pet' thing too. I can see why someone would, Skoll is a good name or Gondria.

Thank you. You said it best. It was mostly to just vent.

That is all I have to say on that. I'm just glad I don't live near a certain obscure town on the Olympic Peninsula.

I do... It's only an hour and a half or so from where we live.
Went through it on the way back from a family wedding. From all that I saw on the main drag through town, they need to just get it over with and rename the place Twilight Ville.
(Yay for good business though. For they certainly have a ton of that right now!)

I actually started a thread regarding these uncreative names. I want to smack every hunter who named their Chromaggus... Chromaggus. Which is basically all of them. Or the ones that name their Skoll.... Skoll... C'mon, show SOME creativity! We're the ONLY class that can name our pets and people totally waste the opportunity =(

GUYS!

Enough....

This thread was not about what names are creative or not. Not about if naming a mob the same name it's already got is wrong or not.

This was a thread about REALLY bad and/or vulgar names, mostly about the one I talked about and any similar experiences.

I didn't want this thread to turn into some big argument or anything. *sigh*

And I'm afraid my Huhuran is still unnamed, because nothing feels right yet, not for neglect. I soloed my way to her, so I'm pretty sure I earned the time to think. ;)

I'll be sticking with the Golden Rule on this one. It's healthier. If I twitched every time I saw a Japanese name in Azeroth, for example, I'd have seizure.
^^This

A lot of my pets have a native american name. I also soloed my way into AQ40 and tamed Huhuran. Named her Quanah meaning fragrance. Found the Q in her name a nice touch as she came from Qiraj.

I'm sorry...but giving the pet the name it came with isn't necessarily uncreative; for some people, it's the perfect name for the pet. I know with my spirit beasts, I always refer to them by their names in the wild and very rarely by the names I gave them. I tamed Lord Kri and was trying to come up with a name for him when my boyfriend suggested using the name he already had because it sounded very much like something they would name themselves in their language; I don't see how that's entirely uncreative...and it's certainly better than people who don't name their pets at all or who give them vulgar names.

The biggest thing to keep in mind is that this is a video game...not everyone views their pixels the same way.
