if the Name of some one elses digital pet makes your head hurt you really Really REALLY need to get out more
A fun place to chat about hunter pets in the World of Warcraft.

Nah, it's just the fact that I'm an artist and if you're going to play a class who has to have something following around behind you and you don't want to name it.. but you still want ranged DPS, you have 2 other choices: Demonology Warlock or Frost Mage.Dr. Rockso wrote:Minifig wrote:Uncreative hunters make my head hurt.

If you're going to name it, name it something creative and something that'll make people smile.
While I see where you're coming from, I often do this myself, as I feel that they were given an ingame name for a reason, and it just feels right leaving it as it is.Miraga wrote:I just don't like it when rare spawns are named after their original names. While trying to get Loque, I was spamming a macro and it found Loque! I WAS SO EXCITED! I flew down and was ready to tame and... got ganked by a hunter with a pet named Loque'nahak. ;___; I was very sad.
Other than that, someone had a pink tallstrider named Floyd and that made me smile. And also a worg named HairyPotter.
Hey it's your pet so name it however you want!Gimlion wrote:While I see where you're coming from, I often do this myself, as I feel that they were given an ingame name for a reason, and it just feels right leaving it as it is.Miraga wrote:I just don't like it when rare spawns are named after their original names. Eh, I find it a little obnoxious, especially out in the zone since it tends to make me think of 'hey! Look what /I/ got'. Or gankers do it to trick people and kill them. But hey, to each their own and I think that's the message at the end of the day. As well as the 'it's your pet' thing too. I can see why someone would, Skoll is a good name or Gondria.Gimlion wrote:While I see where you're coming from, I often do this myself, as I feel that they were given an ingame name for a reason, and it just feels right leaving it as it is.Miraga wrote:I just don't like it when rare spawns are named after their original names. Thank you. You said it best. It was mostly to just vent.Maqueda wrote:It seems like folks are getting a little defensive... Someone was expressing an opinion about someone else's choice, not necessarily judging them for it, and made no attempt to confront the person about it, which, to me, says the OP (Taluwen, iirc?) didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I imagine Tal's aim was more to vent (and perhaps find people who agreed with her point of view) rather than starting what seems to be turning into an argument over something that should never be argued about: opinions. Of course, those of you who have stated a different opinion (IE: "I think the name ReallyBigBee is perfectly acceptable") have a right to your opinion - I'm not saying you don't. My point is that there's no need for getting snippy over it. Let's all just agree to disagree, eh?

I just saw a belf hunter running around Org with a redish-brown Worg named JacobBlack.
I mean no offence to any Twilight fans but.... really? >.<
I do... It's only an hour and a half or so from where we live.Cialbi wrote:Skyshot wrote:No no. No. I think I have a better example.

That is all I have to say on that. I'm just glad I don't live near a certain obscure town on the Olympic Peninsula.
That's why they gave us this.Cozzene wrote:We're the ONLY class that can name our pets and people totally waste the opportunity =(

And I'm afraid my Huhuran is still unnamed, because nothing feels right yet, not for neglect. I soloed my way to her, so I'm pretty sure I earned the time to think.
I'll be sticking with the Golden Rule on this one. It's healthier. If I twitched every time I saw a Japanese name in Azeroth, for example, I'd have seizure.
I'm sorry...but giving the pet the name it came with isn't necessarily uncreative; for some people, it's the perfect name for the pet. I know with my spirit beasts, I always refer to them by their names in the wild and very rarely by the names I gave them. I tamed Lord Kri and was trying to come up with a name for him when my boyfriend suggested using the name he already had because it sounded very much like something they would name themselves in their language; I don't see how that's entirely uncreative...and it's certainly better than people who don't name their pets at all or who give them vulgar names.Cozzene wrote:I actually started a thread regarding these uncreative names. I want to smack every hunter who named their Chromaggus... Chromaggus. Which is basically all of them. Or the ones that name their Skoll.... Skoll... C'mon, show SOME creativity! We're the ONLY class that can name our pets and people totally waste the opportunity =(
