Yes! Just got mine following Griffley's instructions to the letter as on the oiled bird tame, except due to spec or whatever I had to start taming about a 3/4 to 1/2 second before the first serpent sting tick. Took probably 20 tries. Made 2 macros and stuck them on my bars: #1 to cast serpent sting and then target myself to stop autoshot, #2 to re-target the wolf and cast tame, and then I had my revive right next to that. Best of luck to everyone else who is trying for it!

So just to clarify... All the pets recently tamable (oiled wolves, birds, lone hunter, etc) are all being done the same way? Just have to have a tame finish at the exact same time the beast dies?

Update on previous post by me: Once I was able to log back (loading screen was getting stuck at 100%) in I revived the wolf and it had the knife in its head.
UltimateCrisis wrote:hey first time poster, long time lurker. Love this website and community being informative to the hunter community and i love my main hunter. I have tried for a while on this pet and was wondering if you do start to revive when it does die does that mean it worked? and should log out to obtain it? i tried reviving it at the very moment it die and let it continue casting but when revived didnt show the graphic

What I noticed was... if you are able to start reviving him when he disappears... stop. Look at your pets you can call and if the wolf is listed on the pets then he will not have the knife in his head even if you log out...
BUT...
If you start reviving when he disappears... stop... and if he IS NOT on your list of pets you can call... log out and see if the wolf is on your character screen... then log back on and look at your pets you can call... he should now be there, and after you revive him he should have a knife jammed into his skull.

Having abit of trouble. I've successfully tamed and killed him at the same time, revived my pet until the corpse has gone, canceled the revive. But when I relog and revive my pet the sword isnt in his head.
Any tips?
EDIT: Wow! Complaining on this forum really works LOL! Just got the pet literally 30secs after making this post. Good luck guys!

I always wondered about doing this method on the oil wolves already out there in the world and if it works on the ghost paw runners that turn into spectral wolves from attacking.

It's been pretty much determined that you cannot tame one of those and retain the ghost look without your computer crashing on you

Has anyone tried taking this pet into a dungeon/raid? I want to know if it still keeps the blade in his head.

Now when hitting revive, is there a special way to do it so that I won't see its icon in my Call Pet list? Or should I just cross my fingers and hope that it works?
I've been trying with a friend for some time now, and every time I manage to land it, it fails because I can see it listed in my Call Pet bar.

What I did was melee hit him until his HP was exactly 2081-2082.
Then I would drop an imolation trap and at exactly the first tick of the trap I would start the tame
Then basically had my finger ready on the hot key for revive pet, canceled it, checked to see if the pet was listed in call pet ability then relogged.
Good luck!
