Don't worry about it, hun. I'd say that pretty much everyone knows that Petopia finds all the rares, and one ...person... isn't going to change that. He's gotten a few comments about not including his source, so maybe they'll shame him into changing it. If not, then he didn't list all the info, and they will have to come to us eventually to find out the rest.
tl;dr author is jerk. You're much more awesome then him. Have cookie.

Red Portent was just tamed, btw.
Well, if he IS hanging around here and lurking and snagging info, then credit SHOULD be given. There's no shame in giving us credit, since he's still doing the legwork of a video.

If a news site writer is regurgitating info published here without attribution, don't complain to them, complain to their management. Perhaps they're aware of the practice but perhaps they think the reporter is doing more of their own work than they actually are. At least all posts here are date stamped.

I especially find it doubtful that someone who wasn't from these forums found out about the tracking before us simply due to the fact that we were given clues from Noah to begin with. Even with those clues it took the community a good while to find the tracks.
I'm sure many people are out there now refining the methods and doing their own searching, but I feel pretty certain that this forum was the first place to put together the information.

I posted a comment on there mentioning Petopia (radahaas) Mia (doomcookie) you put a very good comment on there as well.
Its all you guys that are doing this work. Beautiful stuff so far. I'm getting obsessed over this Savage guy, I think he's going to be my main rare to track in Panda.
Anyways I have a updated Savage tracker. The sneaker goes more south than i thought.
This is going to be tough without flying

I'm not too concerned about the MMO posts. If there are hunters out there NOT reading Petopia, especially while in search of rare beasts, they're harming themselves more than helping themselves.
If anything, I'd rather other sites not publish this sort of "hunter-esque" info if they aren't a hunter specific site, especially if they don't link sources, as it shares the beasts to the entire community, causing more knowledge and griefing. The same thing happened with the rares in FL, MMO posted about them, and all the anti-hunters and jealous tools started ranting about how "spoiled" hunters are for our pets, and found out how to kill the new rares.

So after all this "we get new pets"-excitement I decided to finally download the beta fully and look for beasts myself. I don't want to level so I won't spoil my live experience, but a few of the new pets are 85 so I thought I'd try them. I'm very fond of cats so I wanted to try Savage. I found tracks right next to the path here on the right side of this tree:

- WoWScrnShot_073112_175753.jpg (405.14 KiB) Viewed 3320 times
The tracks were directing behind Findu (across the path) but I lost them there, I went back and saw them continue in two different directions one where my arrow points to on the map, the other more to the left. I followed those to the right first but they ended dead, then I went back and took a turn to the left, flaring ahead of me. The servers were a bit laggy so I suddendly find my poor waterstrider being nommed at by a tiger. I dismiss the waterstrider and the tiger loves to nom me instead. I hit tame (after finding the right button) and without much difficulty he's mine. I wasn't even close to being hurt or dying, so I guess people with higher levels who WANT to grief a hunter can easily kill this beast without trouble while the hunter tries to tame.
The search took about 30 minutes in total with two lost tracks and one with success. But I had to follow the tracks backwards (I think you mentioned Savage was an exception from walking backwards, Kalli, but he wasn't for me!). He didn't hit very hard and didn't interrupt my tame. In the screenshot Savage alias Whisper was already at my side, so don't wonder. And I'm playing on EU server.

Ugh, yes. Savage is very fickle and seems to have SOME backwards prints, but also some forwards prints. He is a massive troll. -_- I'll update accordingly, now that that's even more confirmed.

I think he ported behind me just to troll me. I had his tracks continuing forward, then they ended and I followed those backwards. He seems like a little kid walking back in his own tracks in the snow to irritate people

Stompy does EXACTLY that in a few spots.

It's an ancient Pandaren ritual known as "Walking in the Way of the Moon".

I did make a note on the guide video itself that it would be nice to give us some credit (and I noted that we've found Hexapos wandering much further than what he shows).
Edit: Oh, man. I just realized finding Boglash for his quest without a /target macro will be a real pain, now.

He's the only green strider on that side of the zone, and he still looks glowy green in the wild.

True...and there's a chance I'll be able to get back into beta to take a look at him before launch!

I've just done something that I will never do again, because it really was a jerk move.
I've been casually looking for Savage, I wanted to flare her then watch her walk around so I could take note of her path.
Anyway, an orc hunter found where she was, and flared her up. He already had a hyena out, so he put a freezing trap down, and froze her while he dismissed his pet. I was curious... and without any flare or aggro, I pressed tame beast... and got her.
I feel really bad but, I hope something positive comes out of this. So flare doesn't tag the beast, nor does freezing trap.
On another note, I found the quilen again last night and put a mark on it to track its path. It stayed visible, and I invited another hunter to come and tame it, but he couldn't see it, being marked by me.

Just a btw, I followed Portent through his entire path and should have a map up eventually for those who want one.

I have Stompy, Bristlespine, and Hexapos's paths in my head; will work on those later >_< *yawns exhaustedly* Let's just say that these guys like to drop prints and turn. x_x

Bristlepine is insane. He turns just for the heck of it, leaves one track every 100 yards or so, walks THROUGH rocks, and is just generally all out of effs to give.

I followed Bloodtooth on his entire path last night, starting from his spawn point that was discovered. Though even if we know where he spawns, camping the spot isn't that good of an idea, since he takes aproximately more or less 1 hour 15 minutes to make his full run! I'll post a map when I get back from work.
Fun fact: you can use Wyvern Sting to sleep him, and when you do he hides in his shell!
Interesting note: When not in a Flare, he has a buff called Stealthy (Difficult to detect.) which I assume they all have. You can see it if you put Hunter's Mark on the beast, and as long as that buff is on it, he will stay neutral and will not aggro you even if you run through him. But as soon as you use Flare, he will aggro the nearest player if he sees one.
