Thank you Maria :hug: Same for me, the moment I first saw someone in Orgrimmar using it many years ago I knew I had to have it. Some days I still wonder how I ended up taking care of it, too :lol:

Good catch. I think the last update used an older file that didn't have them in yet. It should be fixed in the next update, which will hopefully be soon. Sorry about that!

Hello! Is there going to be an update for the incubus warlock pet that dropped yesterday? I wasn't sure if this addon is still being updated

Hello there! It might be a bit as I'll be busy irl but yes, I do plan on updating for the incubus. I was very interested when I saw it first announced and love that they included the option. PetEmote is still being updated and maintained, it's just been quiet as I've not played WoW for a few months and don't feel much pressing need to add anything more to what we have currently. Thank you for asking and for using the addon! :)

Oh, I'm glad to hear it! Looking forward to the update, but take the time you need!

Sorry this took a while. Unfortunately PetEmote isn't very high on my priorities right now. Here's some new custom emotes that should include the Incubus until the addon is updated!

As always, if you have any personal custom emotes make sure to back them up before adding mine or you may lose them!

I just wanted to say how much I still use and love this add-on, and now my 13 yr olds play and use this add-on (the first one they insisted on downloading...lol) I cannot wait to see what the new lesser dragons emotes are once you have time to add them.
Again thank you so much for one of my most loved add-ons <3

Randomly... any thoughts about adding optional script to play pet sounds when they emote?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I've been getting this error message during my play sessions when I have PetEmote enabled:

209x PetEmote/PetEmote.lua:379: attempt to call global 'GetContainerItemLink' (a nil value)
[string "@PetEmote/PetEmote.lua"]:379: in function <PetEmote/PetEmote.lua:373>

[string "@FrameXML/ContainerFrame.lua"]:1454: in function <FrameXML/ContainerFrame.lua:1441>

arg2 = 30
itemName = nil
itemLink = nil
(*temporary) = nil
(*temporary) = 3
(*temporary) = 30

If anyone has any tips on how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated! I've been using PetEmote for years and I love this addon! Can't play my pet classes without it! :)

Change "GetContainerItemLink(arg1, arg2)" to "C_Container.GetContainerItemLink(arg1, arg2)" in PetEmote.lua on line 373.

Change "GetContainerItemLink(arg1, arg2)" to "C_Container.GetContainerItemLink(arg1, arg2)" in PetEmote.lua on line 373.
This has worked so far! Thank you so much!!

I haven't forgotten about this and I'm working to bring it up to date with 11.0.2. Keep an eye out for 'alpha' updates on CurseForge et al!

The update is working AMAZING, thank you so much for revitalizing the addon!

I had a question, though- does the old editor work with it? I'd like to create some custom emotes for my Stormrooks.

A bit random. Anyone know how to get the bit that you could edit yourself to personalise the pet emote? Thanks

Hello everyone.

I am sincerely sorry for the absence and lack of work on this addon and thread for so long. I ended up losing interest in WoW after my guild disbanded and swapped to Final Fantasy XIV so I've only been on and off in short bursts. And this last year as a whole has been... awful, to put it lightly. I am aware that Lesser Dragonkin still need emotes and the whole thing needs a dust over - it might take some time to get my motivation back but I would like to keep working on PetEmote and do my best to keep it alive. It really makes me happy knowing people are still using and enjoying it :hug:

The Editor should still work perfectly fine, and can be found on the first page of this thread to download! Let us know if there are any issues with it. And of course this comes with the usual disclaimer:
Remember to back up and make a list of your custom emotes, as updates will be based on the core files and will overwrite any changes made. That said, have fun with it!

One thing I intend to do at some point is clean up the first post to include directions like this. Right now, commands are found on the Curseforge download page.
To bring it here however:

Code: Select all

/pe
Allows you to create custom messages in-game for your pet, the same way as with /e for your character.

Code: Select all

/pe random
Forces a random emote to happen.

Code: Select all

/pe random on/off
Turns automated random emotes on or off so you can control when they happen or let them happen, well, randomly!

Code: Select all

/pe gender male/female
Will set your pet's gender as preferred if it's available for the creature type. (eg: Death Knight minions are gender-neutral. Changing the gender might still work, but it will always display as 'it/its' without changing the emote using the Editor.) /pe gender with no specified entry will simply switch the gender to the opposite of what it is currently.

Code: Select all

/pe family
Allows you to customise your current pet's family. So rather than have the default 'Spirit Beast' you can have 'Spirit Leopard' or 'Stormrook' etc. Or even simply describe your pet by making it your 'fat bear' rather than simply 'bear'.

I hope this all helps and makes sense! Please feel free to post here or contact myself or Ethan Centaurai if there are problems :)

The editor does indeed work, but I'm a bit out of my depth; I've tried multiple ways to add custom emotes/a new pet family for my stormrook but they simply aren't working, my stormrook keeps emoting as though it's a spirit beast.

(attaching my custom emotes in case anyone else wants to use them or is smarter than me and can get them to work.)

It could be that I need to test some more - I just updated and temporarily subbed back to WoW - but as far as I recall it sadly doesn't work that way and I have no means of finding out otherwise as yet. If it's a coding thing I'll have to poke Ethan about it, and the original site the previous owner used is long gone.
In terms of the Editor, it's simply so you can add your own ideas to the existing (or missing, in the case of lesser dragonkin) families. I could swear though that at one point you could make a custom config per name as well, but it's been too long and I couldn't get it to work on my end either. As for setting the pet's family in-game, that's purely cosmetic and simply changes what other players who don't use PetEmote see.

Sorry for the disappointment.
