Maybe they will in the future, who knows?
Meanwhile, the dread ravens that we apparently weren't able to tame for lore reasons, are being recycled as Odyn's ravens in Stormheim.
So lore-attached models can be re-used.

Things are only getting worse. D:
And with those demon spiders not being tameable, we're not getting any new spider models for no particularly good reasons in Legion, as I doubt they're going to let hunters tame the 2M gold spider.
Meh.

In burning crusade, there are demons who aren't all gung-ho burning legion supporters, and are just regular schmucks hanging out in Shattrath City (which is controlled by the Naaru). So I don't get the lore that something having a demonic origin would make it unsuitable for taming. I guess that's blizzard's decision for now, but who knows, maybe eventually some abandoned population of those spiders will lose enough of their 'demonic attributes' in order to be tamed as hunter pets.

BTW, the Cavernbat in Nelth's lair is now fixed and uses a proper wild green skin.
The tameable hippogryph will now not be. I haven't checked it in the wild but mine no longer has a family. It's cool to have, though, as my Hati still looks like it

See that's one of those frustrating things in Blizzard's logic in this or lack there of. We can tame spirits. We can tame a spider made of stone. We can tame undead ghost beasts! GEM CATS! MECHANICALS! Yet a normal looking spider that cannot be tamed for lore reasons is off the table.Xota wrote:In burning crusade, there are demons who aren't all gung-ho burning legion supporters, and are just regular schmucks hanging out in Shattrath City (which is controlled by the Naaru). Re: Legion pet lists - UPDATED 20160504
Hit lvl 110 today, just in time for the purge on Thursday. Went to tame my new geode turtle and they've all been changed to Pandaran turtles. All of them. And the mana sabers are now regular hunch back cats. Accept for the "rare" one in the area that you can't tame.
I found ONE geode turtle and tamed it... but for some reason I have a feeling that it was some kind of anomaly.
I don't think we're going to get to tame them on live servers.

I'm currently exploring, hoping you simply went to the wrong place. But sadly you seem to be correct. The stony turtles are gone. Most of the mana sabers are gone. Still looking, but so far this is... well I'll hold off saying anything till I'm sure of what I'm saying.Acadion wrote:Hit lvl 110 today, just in time for the purge on Thursday. Re: Legion pet lists - UPDATED 20160504
Alpha just went down but before it did I managed to find:
Two of the four known tameable mana sabers (Thicket Prowler and Misthollow Hunter) have been switched to nightsaber models. And I mean completely switched, their IDs were recycled for the monochromesabers, they aren't just relocated or rare. The two others are still tameable: the Leyline Prowler (underneath eastern Farondale, accessed by an entrance outside the city, by the river) is still the light blue version and the eponymous "Mana Saber" that the guards use in the far back corner of Farondale is still tameable in the other two colours. I wonder if they'll be changed too.
Why did they do this? I don't know. It'll be interesting to see what the rest of you think. I understand making a rare out of an especially cool look, but it's odd that these guys have been so reduced yet are still available as common mobs, and are still not difficult to find for taming. I can only guess either (i) the area designers decided that they're too fancy to be just everywhere in Suramar, even though they're already restricted to that one special, max-level zone, or (ii) we caught them mid-process and they'll all be removed or rare by the next build or (iii) they're in the process of moving the looks to other places instead. We'll have to wait till the Beta opens in a couple of days to see if what is the case. If they ultimately are restricted to rare then I hope it's so they can be rare CATS instead, and they'll scrap the Mana Saber family (and maybe replace it with a more substantial new family) but that's just me daydreaming.
But if they want to persist with Mana Sabers as a tiny splinter family, they need to keep a few common or the family's existence is going to feel all the more absurd, but my gut feeling is that they wouldn't make them all rare.
As for the turtles, as Acadion said, the stony turtles were replaced by the dark green Panda model. The new ones don't use the ID of the stony one, so it's not a direct switch. I couldn't find the remaining geode turtle he metioned, though. It might be on a long spawn timer. Again, who knows what their plans are there.
I keep thinking back to what other cool appearances were in other zones that they may have ripped out as well, but it's unfortunately too late to check. The purple, blue and white owls are very pretty and are definitely still in common use. I couldn't see the red mana wyrm today but I think it has simply moved to another spot. And I'd be surprised if the gorgeous purple basilisk has changed, and if they did reduce its numbers I thnk it would be for the good: it appears every second area designer wanted to use it and it's all over the freaking place currently.
I expect the new-model wolves and nightsabers are frankly both too bland to be candidates for restricting, I think they're probably untouched. And the "demon" spiders were already known to be gone.
I guess it's nervous waiting till the Beta comes up :S

'Blizzard Logic' has been an issue. As I remember, there was a discussion about 'Rylaks and Chimeras having different families because one has a ground animation and one has a flying animation'.
=
= both 'Carrion Birds'
=
= both 'Serpent'
I can deal with "Because we didn't feel like it", but they need to stand on that platform and be honest about it. Just like I can deal with them saying, "We have no intention to...." and then later changing it. Not having an intention to change something is different from stating clearly, "We are going to..." or "We will never..."
.... but then, I'm only one person when it comes to that.

That's what I love about you Wain. Always finding the positives in things.
However. Today. Sadly. I am not in a good mood. This news, while may not be concrete, has made my attitude worse.
It shouldn't and I'm trying to turn the other cheek but it's not helping. Ugh.
Like already said. Waiting game begins. I really won't be all that please if the new cats were replaced with the old vanilla saber models.
Thanks for the heads up though. *watches like a crazy person*

Re: Legion pet lists - UPDATED 20160504
considering that they are removing most of the tames people were hoping for ( feeling a skeletal wind serpent deja vu vibe here, I feel for you spider lovers
, I know the feel ), I assume there won't be any chance of tameable skyscreamers or armored ToT dinos
, can't say I'm sad about them removing the falcoraptor, it was ugly as sin.
still hoping for a fell raptor, they did do shaman raptors with elemental buffs for the doomhammer, keeping fingers crossed
P.S. the removal of those horrible falcoraptors leads me to believe that IF they do indeed add those horrible things back it may be in a zandalari themed patch later on (considering that the darkspears are lacking a leader atm it may make sense to have a troll focused patch later on ), wich gives me hope for armored dinos and fel dinos and skyscreamers... but it may be that I'm just tired and being hopeful in spite of the awful news of those nice tames being removed
Also, if the devs are reading this .... I have 2 major remarks to say :
Number 1: survival feels more like a BM hunter than BM feels ( pets on bm are too weak, calling on dire pets doesn't really make me feel like an awesome beast master, just makes me feel like a crazy cat lady who wants to go hunting )
Number 2: gives us SWARM TYPE PETS FFS: compy horde, wasp swarm, crow flocks

So VERY upset and devastated they took the beautiful crystal/stone turtles and beautiful mana saber cats away. Totally made my day worse seeing and then reading it.
Seriously if an Blizz peoples are reading these....WHY!?....please give them back, they added that much more beauty to the zone, they fit just fine, and we need some new beautiful skins...please.

Re: Legion pet lists - UPDATED 20160504
Question: Since Mana Sabers are an Exotic family, what is their exotic ability?
Also, sucks to hear a bunch of stuff is becoming untameable. I just got into the tarantula hobby and was looking forward to getting a good-looking "thicker" spider.

Re: Legion pet lists - UPDATED 20160504
It's possible the stone turtle is still there as a rare and we haven't found it yet. Unfortunately the change was only noticed within a day of Alpha shutdown and we didn't have much time to search.lilaughingwolf wrote:So VERY upset and devastated they took the beautiful crystal/stone turtles and beautiful mana saber cats away. The mana saber colours are still all available and were still all on common beasts at the time of shutdown. It was just that they were far more restricted in the zone than before, which seemed like a bizarre choice. I guess they would have their reasons but it seemed like a step backwards for the look of the zone. Those nightsaber cats they were replaced with, I feel are very bland.
Don't panic too much yet, the look will hopefully be available somewhere, and the stone skin really was almost too special for a common. Cynically, it probably pays to not get too openly excited about an appearance or they may decide to assign more value to it

At the time of shutdown they didn't have one yet. My suspicion is that pet abilities will get a rework and they'll delay giving mana sabers anything till then. But that's only a gut feeling.Bambu wrote:Question: Since Mana Sabers are an Exotic family, what is their exotic ability?

There's a rare elite turtle named "Ultanok" that was added in 7.0.1, according to wowhead. No location given, but it show the same model as tortos (the lowland manashells' model hasn't been updated yet on wowhead). But keep an eye out for Ultanok to check its model.
