Senna, your keldo is a monster  i love it!

I too just use pokemon i like the most, i dont do the tournaments like battle tower or pokemon world tournament, none of that stuff. And last non-battle contest i ever did was the stuff in Ruby. I dont like what they've done to the whole thing anymore.

I'm torn right now for the water type i wanna have in a new team im building.

Its so far:

Zangoose
Sawsbuck
Ampharos
Arcanine
Sigilyph (i wanted something else but ive been hard pressed to find a pokemon who can make use of a good psychic move and apparently he can be a beast)
Milotic/Vaporeon.

This is the hard part. Ive researched and both milotic and vaporeon are pretty much equal in terms of votes. Neither has given me enough pro's and cons in one direction to make me choose one. Milotic has proven her worth no doubt, but my vaporeon was always a tank that would brush off your attacks and pulverize you into a soggy lump. My vaporeon wasnt even bred and EV trained to be what she is now. I just used her a lot as my only water user. But while my movesets for each pokemon are extremely strict and thus i cannot afford to get rain dance, im stuck getting water absorb with her which seems poor in comparison to milotic's marvel scale and her self healing (cant exactly get Wish in there for poor Vappy >_> since i dont do tournaments, i need sigilyph to have Fly and Vappy to have Surf).

Im just so torn D: I dunno who to go with cause both have shown their worth

Went and got my level 50 Keldeo, then proceeded to use it to kick Elesa's arse. Dang, I hate fighting her so much. >.> Yeah. My Keldeo listened, despite the fact he was ten levels above the level I could use. He took a nap in the middle of the battle though...
Now, I get to do to fun part! Extreme level grinding! Yay!

Personally I prefer Milotic, but that's because I like how it looks more, and the self heals are nice. I also dont seem to have much luck with eeveelutions, they tend to die pretty fast on me...except a certain umbreon..that umbreaon is a beast...

Milotic is pretty bulky, that's for sure. I've personally never used one, though. Vaporeon DOES have its merits, though, since it has HUGE HP, and thanks to such, Wish heals a HUGE amount of health, especially if you switch to another Pokemon to get the Wish. But without Wish, Vaporeon isn't AS good. Aqua Ring isn't a half bad form of healing, though.

Umbreons ARE pretty badass if trained right. A certain Umbreon of mine knows that QUITE well. XP

When i pair up vappy with acid armor, the sheer amount of health vaporeon naturally comes with has, coupled with 4 rounds of acid armor to max out the in-battle stat growth for defense, vappy can shrug pretty much everything that hits her off (like, literally, she usually doesnt lose more then an eigth of her total health in the entire pokemon battle and just crushes the entire enemy team).

The problem is, acid armor takes up a slot i could have another important thing in (i do give my pokemon means to heal/bulk but my new team doesnt have exactly much room to wiggle). The milotic im going for will already have built in defense with her nature and ability (though not nearly as good as acid armor /drool) but she'll at least be able to give a reasonable pounding on her foes while having recover to heal any damage toxic orb and her enemies deal to her.

Im really sentimental to vappy, having been with her for so many years, but milotic battle-wise i've decided, will be my main water pokemon.

I've also switched out Amphy for Electivire and Arcanine for Volcarona. Electivire is the opposite of amphy, he has a strong physical attack which is what i need to cover things like fighting and ground type moves (something i've been desperate to fit into my team). I didnt really want to replace my arcanine but I need morning sun but guess what? You can ONLY breed that into growlithe in HeartGold/SoulSilver. So. I cant do that.

The arcanine i have is exactly what i bred for the purpose of following smogon but i didnt understand how to EV train so i just lvled him up like it was no biggy, caring not what i threw him against. Now that i understand EV's and will be training my pokemon in them, it was a big killjoy for me to remember that i can no longer breed growlithes with morning sun. I adore Volcarona tho and have been absolutely dyyyyyyyyying to make use of him. After reading smogon i completely revoked all my doubts about him because of his weaknesses and im stoked to add him to my party <3

Actually, from what I know, you can get Morning Sun as an egg move for Growlithe in 5th gen.

Hmm.. i'll try that, i dont remember if it was diamond or white that i tried breeding in, and i havent bred my arcanine in white 2 before. I have no idea what one i'll end up using as my -main- one now cause i've grown really fond of volcarona now but i may swap em on and off since volcarona dooooes have a lot of weaknesses ._.

Espeon can learn morning sun via level up (lv 33) and shares an egg group with Growlithe if you need a pokemon to know the move to breed with.

Yea, i gamesharked an espeon in ruby to use as fodder in either diamond or white which resulted in the arcanine im using now, but his EV's are all over the board so i need to breed a new baby with the ability so i can EV train it ^_^ unless theres a way to remove EV's. I'd be estatic cause my guy's lvl 76 right now @_@ im not fond of the idea of lvling a new one when Ram Shard (his nickname) already has my desired nature n what not

Actually, I believe you CAN remove EV's: http://www.serebii.net/games/evs.shtml about half way down, the berries and other stuff!!

Image Omfg. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE omg. omg omg. You caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, lol i havent done a thing with the Join Avenue since we had to go through that retarded intro process XD

Damn. I'll have to do all that stuff n set it up then.

But SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO worth it!

Image

And theres a chick who can check your pokemon's EV's!!

I had a friend type me up a EV Guide for Dummies since i struggled immensely to figure out anything beyond the understanding it makes your pokemon stronger and natures have now been designed to influence stat growth Image And we can pair them with an Exp. Share too by the looks of it so they dont even need to fight 8D! The friend who wrote me up how they do it said they switch the pokemon a the start of battle, they never use exp. share for EV training

I prefer using an exp.share to EV train personally. Saves more time then switching at the start of each fight, and if you have multiple Exp.shares you can train a whole bunch of pokemon up at the same time (provided they need the same type of EV points)

Speaking of competetive battling, I'm taking a stab at it. Sort of.

My friends and I are all pokemon dorks. So when one of them proposes we all raise team with one type and pit them agaisnt each other, Pokemon World Tournament style, I was all in.

Until I got the fire type.

Fire types suffer from the unfortunate problem in which everything practically makes a fire type's life miserable. Ground, rock, water, and anything and everything that uses Earthquake. ESPECIALLY EARTHQUAKE.

And then I learned that half of my proposed team could learn Solar Beam. Which meant there was only one thing I could do. I needed a Droughttales. Unfortunately, my internet and my DS don't get along. But I have a friend who has an AR. So they'll be getting me a Droughttales and I do the breeding for the nature I need.

The team I'm thinking of is Ninetales, Volcarona, Blaziken, Charizard, Houndoom, and H. Rotom. With like half of these guys knowing Sunny Day and Solar Beam. Because come on. My only prayer is that no one tries to run a Rainy Day or Snowstorm or Sandstream thing against me, or it is going to SUCK. A lot.

And that's incoherent pokemon rambles from me yay.

I did a bunch of EV training and breeding/catching wild Pokemon over and over for IVs back in gen 4. It takes way too much time but in the end it was worth it to see how great your Pokemon where in battle.

My boyfriend still thinks I'm crazy for resetting over and over for a timid Kyogre with 31 speed IV/31 SpA IV, EV trained him for speed and SpA with a choice scarf. If I was going to have a choice scarfed water sprouting cheap-as-hell iwin Kyogre, he was going to be THE BEST!

What are IV's? I've only heard of EV's before

They are, essentially, another way to min/max for competitive play. Or as I call it, another reason to rip your hair out trying to get a great comp team.

Also a pokemon's characteristic is determined by it's highest IV stat. Easy way to see it's best IV.

Ahhhk, well, while im not gonna go anywhere near all that math stuff, i have been breeding my pokemon with the nature i need and, via the B/W 2 handbook, characteristics that fall into specific stats (it never said that each characteristic under those stats, like say Strong Willed vs Somewhat Vain had different values associated with em) ^_^

Decided to give the Pokedex Pro a try on my 3DS. Its Very pretty, and has tons of information...However it does have a really big flaw...I can't check it while I am playing my game XD
I love the space background the most, and Keldeo just stands out wonderfully. OOHhh and Suicune is absolutely gorgeous in 3D. But none were as jaw dropping as Rapidash and its absolutely amazing flaming mane/tail!! I really wish pokemon where real!
