Is the light type thing fact yet or is it still just fan speculation? Sorry I've not been reading up much on Pokemon news lately XD

Light-type is still a speculation.
though one I am really hoping holds true.

Yea I think the only reason it's like that is because it's pure Japanese translation and they usually change it for English games anyways.

Of course it will. But the "Eon" name theme is ONLY for the English version. The Japanese names are much different, with Eevee being the only one whose name is basically the same; being Eievui. The others, though?
Vaporeon: Showers
Jolteon: Thunders
Flareon: Booster
Espeon: Eifi
Umbreon: Blackie
Glaceon: Glacia
Leafeon: Leafia
So, chances are, Ninfia will end up as Ninfeon, or something similar. :D

Can't quite give them style points when it comes to names, it seems.

Yup. XD Umbreon is indeed Blackie in Japanese. Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon have it pretty bad, too, being Showers, Thunders and Booster. XD And can't forget the Legendary Birds of Kanto! Thunder, Freezer and FIRE!
Granted, one has to remember that while these names sound lame to us.. They sound badass to the Japanese, just as simple Japanese words sound awesome to us English, while they're lame and just as uncreative to the Japanese. XD

Wait but has it actually been confirmed as anything? I'll still probably raise one no matter what it is, mostly because I am Lord of the Eeveelutions and such, but this one is blargh. It's like Skyla and Glaceon had a baby.
/crosses fingers in vague pointless hope that it is fake

Creepy..
And The new pokemon is indeed real and currently known as Ninfia (just confirming that as its japanese name). It's an evolved form of Eevee but still unknown how to acquire it, and is due to appear in a movie short alongside its other Eevee evolutions

At first glance I thought it was an evolution of Fennekin. It's cute though, I like it. :3

(Although I see more of a Glaceon/Skitty hybrid than Glaceon/Skyla personally XD )
I actually don't mind this new eeveelution all that much, although it took a little for it to grow on me. Certainly needed to push past my own personal expectations to appreciate it though, the video of it's in-game model certainly helped that. Not one of my favourites, but certainly far from my least favourite.
Also really digging the name of "Sylveon". The translation team did good on that.

Looking at its idle animation, Flying type comes more and more to the front of the list.

Love the name Sylveon, and it's looking good in the animations! The uh.. 'card' attack by what it looks like, kinda weird..
