Just remember: you can tag a pet and still have it be tamed by someone else. It just won't drop anything for someone else who killed it. Unless they have changed it, Tame Beast doesn't require tagging; just aggro. And we already know a trap and flare don't aggro the pet!

Unless you mean that it wasn't tagged when all this was done, and you tamed it. But the way this read, there was a direct correlatn between 'tag' and 'tame.'

Yes, the guy assumed that trapping tags the beast to him. There was no aggro indeed, as it was trapped, and I was at range just pressing tame beast, and he did nothing. Although, he might have just pressed tame beast aswell, but after me.

I think the main thing Sam was trying out here was to see if the Flaring out the beast would make it specific to the hunter who did the flare. Since this is a completely new mechanic of flaring out pets, there is a bit of mystery in what flags or marks the hidden pets. I think by reading it correctly, Sam was mainly checking to see if there is anything else about the FLARE that can cause grief or prevent grief.

And as I said before....

it was for the good of SCIENCE!!!!!!!

*hugs Royi* yes, it was for the good of science :) I think, we still have to attack the pet then tame, so if someone else tries, the tame will break off (like the rares we know).

From everything I've read (all of it here), basically, the tracks are only visible to hunters. Hunters must be the ones to flare them out, but once done, anyone can see the pet once it's in the flare. HOWEVER, a pet will re-vanish if it leaves the flare, unless a hunter put's his HM on it. If a hunter has his HM on the beast, he is the only one who can see the beast, probably until it's flared out again.

One thing I'm still not sure of, is if the beast leaves the flair while under attack of another class, will he vanish from them and evade? Or will he continue attacking while the player cannot? Or will he remain visible and attackable to the person engaging him? Or to everyone? It's basically one Idea, but 4-5 different ways it might end up.

I'm sure we could get some people to do a bit of testing. Find one of the beasts, flare it, then have someone on a non-hunter class try attacking it and seeing what happens if they leave the light radius, or if the hunter tries to get aggro back, etc.

Been happily following Bloodtooth around... he's 1/3rd into his path... server restart in 15. And we didn't even get halfway across Krasarang!

Is it possible to tame the beast with but only the hunters mark on them and flare-less? (since only the hunter who applied the mark can see them)

From what I've seen, yes, the beast is still visible b/c of the HM, and thus still tamable.

As long as you can see the beast, you can tame it. :) I've done it myself. The only difference is that if the beast isn't in a flare, it'll keep walking as you tame it. The tame will still go through, though!

Yay! Someone else tested it, that means I can theoretically sleep tonight. :headbang:

Yeah, right, like that will happen

Yeeeeey so you can literally tame it without getting a big paw or tentacle across the face or a beak through the eye?

Heheh, I had gotten that Amber Rod from a rare in Kun Lai that basically is instant-cast CC for 30 seconds, so what I've been doing for snap tames is just hitting that item and then hitting tame.

Boy, I need to make sure I get that item on live... extremely convienient!

All the item-drop rares are gonna be soooo heavily camped... @_@ i can also picture a tonga line of hunters following beast tracks too
