If you're just doing this as a personal way to find new pets, then perhaps you're better off rolling for yourself as I see this challenge in this thread being a way for the community to see these pets from someone else's point of view, even if you don't like the pet.
I did do a report on the white plainstrider, a very detailed report with multiple screenshots, as can be seen here, on page 16, as I again indicated in the previous post before this one. It's not my fault if you didn't read it, so don't take it out on me!
TygerDarkstorm wrote:When you have a huge stable that's already full of half or more of the pet families out there and you refuse to tame a different skin or a redo, etc, it makes it very hard, and in many ways, more limiting than even rolling for lowbies. I don't remember every single post made here, unfortunately, and having to dig back several pages to see what you've done (when you could repost when you request another roll if you don't want that family again) makes this more time consuming than it already is. Like I said before, I was rolled two wasps for this challenge, I did a big report on the first one, and a smaller report on the second because they were two different skins and I felt that each wasp had its own personality.
I don't refuse to tame a different skin on another toon. I'd be happy to try a raptor on Toeph, or a dragonhawk on Leata, etc. I just don't see the point, personally, of having two pets of the same family taking up my limited stable slots on the same toon, unless they are vastly different skins (i.e. an old world worm and a jorumugar). Again, I mentioned that in several posts, including the one listing my pets, and I don't see anything unreasonable about that request. It's not like their aren't plenty of different pet families.

I tried being nice, explaining my circumstances and position, but apparently that's not good enough for you. I'm felt like I was being unfairly picked on, and I don't like that. Nobody would.

Perhaps a more Orcish philosophy is called for:

"Orcs do not apologize for past actions, nor do they demand apologies from enemies"

Just wanting to touch base on the escalating hostility in here.

I can see some tempers were inadvertently raised, and I can't truthfully say I understand the reason, but I do know that sometimes you just have a bad day and the smallest of things can pile up and make you crack.

Overall this thread was something that was made to be a fun little challenge for the community, so I hate to see arguments here. I don't think any person was purposefully trying to upset another, so I'm hoping everyone can just lay aside the bad blood and agree to forgive and forget. :) Share the pet love everyone, it's what we're here for. ^_^

*nods to Veph*

The important part of this thread is the sharing part. It's nice to have someone else do the randomizing, but really, anyone can do it. We could roll the numbers ourselves, or if that still seems too subjective, Veph mentioned the pet voting page as a possibilty on page 21.

RNG is dumb, as we all know, and there are an awful lot of people posting in this thread with all sorts of stables and past pets. It's difficult to keep it all straight. Please keep that in mind. :)

Yup. :) This thread is over 20 pages long....that's a lot of posts and information to remember and go back on. I can't imagine trying to keep this organized, so it's definitely important to remember that the people are doing this for us out of their own time. ;)

Random pet generator - please test it for me!

Edit1:

Darn it, it doesn't update!

I'll go back to the drawing board (unless anyone knows how to get GoogleDocs to work...)

Edit2:

I've set it so everyone can edit it, let's see if that works

Edit 3:
Ok, the above link goes to an online version that kind of works
this link goes to a downloadable one that works in excel/OpenOfficeOrg
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B3tvNX ... y=COO3j4QI

I hope it works and that folks find it useful

Hurrah!

Did you try online or offline version?

I used the online version, the first linked. Pressed Ctrl + R a whole bunch and got a new pet each time.

I definitely don't like people being hostile towards each other. I can understand the frustration of having to do tons of rerolls because theres a bunch of pets someone has/refuses to tame. I'm just sad it has devolved to fighting.

Anyways, Ashiena has some stable slots freed up, so I will do this on my main now. I got rolls for my lowbie hunters but I'm just not feeling them as it is so I will do this on my main.

Name: Ashiena
Level: 80
Beast Mastery: Yes
Restrictions: None! Just roll me something... if I have the pet already I will do a report on it, and if not I will try it out. I will also be willing to camp rares for this as well. ^_^

Done! I just happened to be in Shat, so I'll go tame one now and mess around with one for a while. Always wanted to try a nether ray!

Oh, and the random generator links don't work for me, for some reason they just flash through a ton of pets really fast. :S But that's okay I think it's more fun to have someone else roll one for me. :)

I'll post my findings in a little bit. (:

I'm wondering if there's a way to make this an in-game function through an addon. It could load up a model view similar to NPCScan and provide you with a nearby place to tame it based on your location. Of course, it's probably not worth doing until December, but it might be something to think about.

Perhaps one way to make this easier would be to have two threads? One thread for rolls and one thread for the reports. It is a HUGE pain to backtrack through all the pages and reread stuff to figure out what was previously done and keeping track of many different people's stables. I think it would be easier to have the stuff split up that way it's easier to find the info needed and the people just looking for the reports don't have to sift through posts of rolls.

It would certainly be fun to go through a thread of solely reports...hmm. Tomorrow if I'm feeling up to it I'll see if I can dig through this beast of a thread and split up the pet reports into a new one.

I just thought it might be easier that way so people looking just for some feedback on a certain pet can just pop into the reports thread, and people wanting to participate can go to this thread and ask for a roll, or give themselves a roll since there's been a few different rolling methods mentioned in here.
