Crappy Groups
Re: Crappy Groups
Also, it sounds to me from your previous stories that with a pet that can pull aggro more than the primary tank can without Growl, the pets are really overall better tanks, even more superior if they're a tenacity pet. I'll be surprised that if this keeps up, groups will rely on a hunter's pet rather than a warrior for tanking. Kinda sounds like a hunter's dream to prove their doubters wrong.

Pets are still more limited than actual tanks, simply because they're not thinking for themselves. (Sorry, but it's true.) Mages can pull higher threat than tanks, but that doesn't make them overall better tanks.kamoodle5 wrote:Also, it sounds to me from your previous stories that with a pet that can pull aggro more than the primary tank can without Growl, the pets are really overall better tanks, even more superior if they're a tenacity pet. That's what Eyes of the Beast is for, lol, but yeah, pets have more limits. I'd say they have better instincts but I guess not in WoW.Kalliope wrote:Pets are still more limited than actual tanks, simply because they're not thinking for themselves. (Sorry, but it's true.) But then the hunter is useless, not even autoshotting. At that point, the hunter might as well have rolled a tanking class. xDkamoodle5 wrote:That's what Eyes of the Beast is for, lol, but yeah, pets have more limits. Pets are pretty good at tanking just with autoattacks and their natural ability usage. But yeah, in the end, you want a tank who can see that the healer's getting beaten on and needs saving.

Friend of mine has a PvP Fire spec'd mage. He purposely didn't take talents to reduce threat, and on any pull with any tank, he can pull threat off. And he does. To make the tank doubt him/herself. He's a sick bastard.Saturo wrote:Lies.Kalliope wrote:Mages can pull higher threat than tanks, but that doesn't make them overall better tanks.

Edit: Here's the spec, if anyone was curious.

Ahaha, that is just WRONG! XD Makes me want to try something like that on my mage now.Ryno wrote:Friend of mine has a PvP Fire spec'd mage. On my baby Warrior I only just made I've encountered some scary cases. o.o Once the Druid healer just ran around in bear form, pulling stuff and growling at everything, and then complaining when they get aggro and die. :P I was all "pro tip: don't go around pulling stuff if you're not the tank - and ESPECIALLY if you're the HEALER". Luckily I have the Crusader enchant on my heirloom sword so I don't need all that much healing anyway, but still.. Sheesh.
Tanking Deadmines is awesome though. :D Not a single death or wipe there so far when I've been tanking. <3
Re: Crappy Groups
What would be neat is to have the privilege of having both the hunter and his/her pet being independent of themselves sometimes. In other words, the player gets to control both of them maybe not simultaneously but the same way that if a person has two accounts. A couple years ago when I was running some lowbies through dungeons like WC often, that was my wish because the lowbies kept getting lost while I was running ahead of them. I know the ways in WC very well it's not even funny.Kalliope wrote:But then the hunter is useless, not even autoshotting. At that point, the hunter might as well have rolled a tanking class. xD

Re: Crappy Groups
If you mean pre heroics then yeah there's nothing wrong with a pet tanking. Hell the other day Embront and a Priest managed the Escort from Mana-Tombs, 'solo' with Wrath, a Devilsaur tanking the end boss for the escort quest. But that doesn't mean that Wrath is better than a warrior, he only managed to keep aggro because well the healer wasn't DPSing really and I managed an insane dps burst to keep him up top for threat.kamoodle5 wrote:I can imagine one healer healing the tank(s) while a secondary healer heals everyone else except the tanks unless if the primary healer is out of mana and needs a backup.

And also it doesn't mean that my pet is a better tank- or even me! I'm finding I have to throttle my DPS as I've been pulling aggro off even paladins if it's not the main target sometimes. Never see it happen with MM hunters or even SV hunters at this level [Em is 67 atm], but her pets and herself usually rip aggro away from the tank in a few shots. And that doesn't make me nor my pet a better tank just because we can do so much burst damage evidently in such a short time- which is confusing for me as I don't think I should be able to do so, to rip threat from the tank.
And remember ripping threat from the tank is also dangerous, case in point. Rogue uses Fan of Knives in Coal's UK run earlier. Rogue dies. Mobs then ignore tank, and go hurtling for myself, the priest and the mage. I have to struggle to keep everyone alive, INCLUDING THE TANK.
So you risk causing a wipe if you get overly cocky about a 'Pet being a better tank than a warrior'.

Doesn't mean they CAN'T tank, just that they shouldn't replace an actual tank unless absolutely necessary.

Re: Crappy Groups
On topic, this is a WAR story. I was in a scenario today as Destruction, when a little goblin shaman began to whine. "I thought Destro protected their healers! Boy was I wrong!" Now, this is Nordenwatch. In Nordenwatch, there are three control points. One close to each factions starting point, and the Fortress in the middle. Everyone know's that fighting is thickest at the fortress during the initial rush. This little gobbo had been there, I'd seen him myself. So I think "I'll check the meter." .....he'd done 896 healing, and 1,200 damage. Which mean's that he had MAYBE healed himself when he'd come under attack, and otherwise just been focused on trying to deal damage. He then proceeds to sit at our spawn point and do nothing until the Idle Hands timer booted him.
Re: Crappy Groups
I enter an Uldaman and I simply say: BRB.
when I come back I hear the druid going ''Huntard stop following me and do DPS lol''
As soon as my eye's saw Huntard I Facepalmed IRL replying with an friendly ''I told you at the start I was going BRB''
and he then keeps going on about me being an huntard speccing BM note: at this point im time i'm starting to get really angry with him going on about hunters I reply with: BM is the best leveling specc, retard.
-First boss-
We run up to the Dwarfs and kill them very easily and fast
The sword drops which I notice would be an nice upgrade I click ''need'' expecting to have a nice sword in my pack within 5 seconds
Of course not! The 8 Agility 5 Stamina blade gets won by a WARLOCK! First my staff from SM Lib and now this...BOTH WON BY $@#£ Casters!
I now getting pissed off writes ''Warlock why the #@$% did you need on an agi sword''
Now the druid who had been an asshole for this entire run comes in with: ''Lol huntard he needed for the stamina its not like any gear is good at this level lol''
-Second Boss-
Nothing to note exept the druid going on about my http://www.wowhead.com/npc=23873 being inferior to Wolfs (Note: Facepalm)
-Third Boss-
As I click in the staff key the giant statue runs out screaming something about the Watcher or The Creators
The pants drop, I wait and watch as everyone greeds exept the Warlock who clicks ''need'' just he had done on every rare item this far
I being majorly pissed @ this warlock also clicks ''need'' and I win.
The second this happens the party explodes with the warlock and the druid capsing stuff like ''OMG HUNTARD NINJA'' and ''OMFG U NOOD U DONT NEED SPIRIT FFS''
I reply with an: ''I need them for the stamina''
....
''WTF U DONT NEED STAMINA''
./sigh
''I do, for survival'' (Note: I'm not serious and i'm plannig to give the pants to the warlock)
''OMG NOOB, how old are u! like 9?''
I answer with ''I'm just as old as the warlock, if you count age in how many items someone has ninja'd''
-Later, around fourth boss-
1.*right click on warlocks icon*
2.*click trade*
3.*put in pants*
* Trade Canceled *
''I dont want the blade for them''
*read .1 .2 .3*
*Trade caneled*
*facepalm IRL*
'' You dont want them?''
''No, not from a retard like you''
*You have been removed from the group*'
What...the....F***
