In other news, I've decided I don't like Ho-oh's coloration and that I want the shiny. I'm going to regret this decision.
A fun place to chat about hunter pets in the World of Warcraft.

This is what I did with Ninetales. I'm still regretting it. *Cries*LupisDarkmoon wrote:In other news, I've decided I don't like Ho-oh's coloration and that I want the shiny. I'm going to regret this decision.
Well, I've been at my Vulpix/Ninetales hunt for around two months now, hunting for about an hour or so each day. And if you want some lulz, I YouTube'd 'shiny ho-oh' and found this gem...LupisDarkmoon wrote:The general impression the internet is giving me is that it'll take a few months of many, many resets a day to get my shiny. Fun stuff! x.x Good luck with your Ninetails hunt!
I feel a bit bad about it really, but one of my friends bought Pokemon HeartGold from a second-hand game store and the game save on it was hacked with x100 Master Balls and such. Since he knew I was hunting for a shiny Vulpix (and figured I would get addicted to shiny hunting and not stop even after I get my Vulpix...) he offered to trade some to me before he reset the save file, so I took 10 or so. I feel bad since I know you're meant to cope with *one* Master Ball... but the idea of a shiny Vulpix *finally* appearing and then escaping a ball I throw at it and using roar to run away... My heart would break. So many times. So there's no way I'm risking it! I'll probably keep the other Master Balls for other shinies I'm bound to hunt after. xDAzunara wrote:If you haven't already Lupis, save your Master Ball for it. Ho-Oh is a real bitch to catch--it took me several tries because he kept struggling himself to death--and if I encountered a shiny Ho-Oh and he struggled himself to death, I would probably quit pokemon and never look back.
Have you tried breeding for the shiny Vulpix? It's about the same amount of time investment, but requires no chance of running, and can be bred with the stats/nature you want.Snowy wrote:I feel a bit bad about it really, but one of my friends bought Pokemon HeartGold from a second-hand game store and the game save on it was hacked with x100 Master Balls and such. Hah, I have very twisted ethics when it comes to cheating. My friend uses an action reply and the shiny braviary I have is shamelessly cheated (it is also sadly the only survivor of his game, as it crashed and wouldn't load anymore) and he also tried to get me a shiny axew--the end result was no axew, but I have 900 of every item and max cash. Which is pretty nice since it's my Black copy that I store my pokemon on, so it's kind of handy. But I don't like using exp hacks, I'd rather raise it myself.Snowy wrote:I feel a bit bad about it really, but one of my friends bought Pokemon HeartGold from a second-hand game store and the game save on it was hacked with x100 Master Balls and such. No, because my way is *much* quicker. xD Level 14 lead Pokemon in area where the highest level Pokemon is Vulpix at level 15, throw repels, all I get are Vulpix in that area. Also I've never been that interested in stats and stuff before, I'm one of those love-Pokemon-for-who-they-are people. xD!Gimlion wrote:Have you tried breeding for the shiny Vulpix? I've heard of that. Wasn't sure it really worked in speeding the process though. And I generally agree, but I find it fun to build competitive teams after the story.Snowy wrote:No, because my way is *much* quicker. xD Level 14 lead Pokemon in area where the highest level Pokemon is Vulpix at level 15, throw repels, all I get are Vulpix in that area.
