Thanks for the feedback, Kormai and Tyger! I'll have to brainstorm a bit about which skin to keep (or tame again). I love the name suggestions too, I'll try those on for size and see how they fit. ^^ Off to tame the Red Core Hound! <3

Kormai, I hope you don't mind me making my reports two different posts, one for each character.

Opted for Image for Yzma.

Yzma made a rather uneventful trip from Hillsbrad out to Dun Morogh where I found a rather lonely looking cat.
Image

I tried talking her into coming with me and at first she resisted.
Image

She then settled down and decided that the rotting corpse that wanted to be her friend really wasn't so bad.
Image

All right, onto the actual review. I'm not a big fan of the old world cat models. They're one of the old models that are starting to show their age, in my opinion.
Image
As beautiful as this color is (and really, the white with black spots is gorgeous), there's quite a few errors on the model. As you can see in the above screenshot, the back right leg is all sorts of awkward shapes.

They also have the same issue that the sabre cats have with their front left leg. Where the elbow should be bending backwards, it also sticks out forward.
Image

The faces of these guys also really bugs me. I hate how boxy and smushed in they look.
Image

I've always been a fan of cat animations. They remind me of real life big cats. When they idle by your side, they look from side to side and they roar (accompanied with noise). The slobber yawn is silencable if you dislike it. They have a very smooth looking run.
Image

I took Chicha out to Hillsbrad to work on some quests. She puts out great damage since she's a ferocity pet and the Roar of Courage buff is a great buff for hunters. While I really like cats, I don't think I'll be keeping Chicha. As pretty as the white color is, I can't get over my dislike of the old world cats for her, and the white gets too bright when you hover over her. She also doesn't really fit the theme for Yzma, which is more dead, dark, gothic like pets.

Again please.

@Azunara: Err... I kinda missed your post earlier. Nothing against you!
As for Strix, I think you've got a keeper there. A disarm ought to be helpful on some trash packs (not sure to what extent a disarm ability is useful in PvE, to be honest), and as a Cunning pet you're going to have good DPS. What I'm saying is that I think Strix is a keeper! :)

@TygerDarkstorm: Yay for boar love! Maybe you could sneak into Razorfen Kraul, and steal some of their boar armor for Rocky. I'm pretty sure that the spots aere unique to that boar skin and its armored version, in case you really liked that little detail.

Changed the image to a URL just to try and make my post here seem shorter :?
Should'a named him Shadowhunter, Shadowstalker, or Sciophobia/Sciaphobia (the fear of shadows). Maybe that could apply to one of your Madexx tames, despite being more of a characteristic of Tucker. Maybe Red Madexx could be a molted version of Tucker; the red and brown models have the same black accent colors. No clue how you would explain the eyes, though.
So, my vote is Red Madexx, with Sciophobia for a name.

@Kormai: Hint taken; don't go overboard on one pet challenge report! Also, sleep disorders are no fun; hopefully you get a good night's sleep tonight!
Might as well forewarn you (or anyone who cares, for that matter) that I won't be able to log in until tomorrow evening at the earliest; staying at a relative's place tonight, and I have not installed the game on my laptop.

Cialbi: *gasp* whaaaat? You haven't instaled it on your laptop? Tisk tisk.

Ok...rolls for me, oh god. Tyger told me on Nesingwary that I should do some since it has been a very long while (actually I haven't done any since making this 3.0 thread, I don't think). So it really is about time! No guarantees on when I'll get them all done.

For Kormai and Kari I'm going to roll them ONLY exotics, something no one has yet asked me to do! The others can't tame exotics so I guess I should make it interesting, no?

I was assigned the Blue Runed Demon Dog.

Image

Once I dinged 69, I promptly made my way to the nearest gathering of Azure Dragonflight goons, and carefully selected an appropriately-leveled Beryl Hound on the fringes of the heavily-populated area.

Image

I took a brief moment in the inn to give him a name, I believe it's an Anglicized form of the Hebrew for 'bald' or 'ice.' With his blue coloring and mostly-hairless body, it seemed to fit.

Image

Taking him outside, I realized his hairless skin wasn't smooth like unruned demon dogs--rather, it was scaly. He did have a 2D ruff of fur down his neck, but you could barely see it from behind. What you could see, however, was a hock that appeared far too narrow from the side. Small as he was, it still didn't seem enough to support his weight.

Image
Image

With his idle examination over, I decided to try him out in combat. I quickly found that not only was Lock Jaw unwise to leave on auto-attack, the melee range made it difficult to micro-manage should I grab aggro and wish him to hold it still a few more seconds. If it weren't channeled I'd have no qualms with it, but the channel combined with the long cooldown made it unappealing as a family skill.

Image

Like beetles, demon dogs appear to have a complete lack of a swimming animation--they simply walk/run/stand in the water.

Image

While he had a pretty color and nice particle effects, it wasn't enough to keep him with me in the end. I released him amongst some Caribou that Nesingwary's hunters hadn't found yet.

Image

Model: Fairly sound, but the hock is extremely skinny and should be thickened.
Skin: Pretty! The frosty blue and white were a nice combination, and the scaly skin combined with the runes made him look as if he truly belonged with the Azure Dragonflight.
Animations: A cute hop-jump idle, and mostly decent attack animations. I raised an eyebrow when he smacked an enemy with his foot, and his running animation is on the amusing side of rediculous. Has no swimming animations.
Sound Effects: Ferocious snarls in combat, silent outside of it.
Pet Family Abilities: I can't say I care for Lock Jaw. Compared to other families, it feels clumsy to utilize.
Utility: Possibly decent for PVP or solo if you don't mind micromanaging to the nth degree. Limited group utility.

Next!

Doing Yzma's first. Image for her.

Yzma took a long trip into strange lands (again) and headed out to Northern Barrens and down to the Wailing Caverns entrance. Target acquired!
Image

Commence tame sequence!
Image

And now that I've gotten that bit of nerdiness out, here's Yzma and Lilo (as in Lilo and Stitch >_>).
Image

I'm really surprised with how much I actually like Lilo's coloring. It's so pretty and it changes depending on the lighting. In darker lighting she's much more of a burnt orange color and her highlights look more of a light blue than green.
Image

In a brighter light, she looks much more yellow-orange and her highlights are a very pretty light green color.
Image

One of the very neat thing about wind serpents is that even though the model is old, there aren't really any major flaws with it, and they're rather lovable little creatures.

I used to hate wind serpent animations, but then I fell in love with dragonhawks, and from there, wind serpents and I've grown to love the steady "flap flap" of their wings and the way their bodies wiggle.
Image

Wind serpents have an absolutely gorgeous swim, both when idle and while moving.
Image
Image

I haven't used Lilo in combat yet as I'm working on leveling herbalism and inscription for Yzma (glyph prices are insane on Nes), but I know from experience that wind serpents are excellent pets for survival hunters with their 8% magic increase debuff and that, since they're cunning pets, they also put out great damage.

Overall, I'm really growing to like Lilo even though she's not a more darker color. Yzma will keep her around until she matures into a different skin. :)

I'll be doing Fiona's report after I get off work tonight.

@ Cialbi: Hey. I'm a druid. I'm supposed to go unnoticed. ;)

That said, yeah. I really like Strix. I did some more questing and he's holding aggro pretty well. I do have heirloom gear advantage over him, but the mobs die before they can touch me, so all's well that ends well. Still working on personality, but I know he's got a lot of it. I can see him as a very playful kind of bird, unless his mistress comes to harm. Then it's SRS BIZNESS time. I doodled him a bit and yeah...I think I'm sold. He's a pretty awesome birdie.

@Tyger: I LOVE my windserpent on Tydarus, everything from his movement animations and sounds to the amazing coloring. Vetinari is one of my top pets! I have the "black" model, which isn't really black but a deep blue with lighter highlights. Maybe that would fit your forsaken gal better?

I don't think Lock Jaw is channeled... I know the crab ability is but I'm fairly sure this one isn't. Could be wrong though!

I was assigned this Image guy for my next challenge. Tyger did a great write-up of serpents a couple pages ago (even though she called my purple one girly :x ), so I will just add a couple things to her report.

I think serpents are very cool - they have great animations, aren't terribly noisy, and have really nice coloration. They also provide a nice debuff if you're in a physical dps-heavy group - it's the same armor debuff raptors provide. I did notice though that serpents use their ability immediately after you send them after a mob, before they even start moving (provided they're in range). I tried to get a screenshot of that but wasn't quick enough. Something else interesting about serpents is how SHINY they are. Like, really shiny.

Image

I got this guy from Thousand Needles, along one of the ridges at the top. I like this guy's colors but I'm sticking with my manly purple and pink model :) .

MOAR pls!
lvl 75+, exotics yes, no monkeys or crocolisks

I'm thinking of morphing Lilo into either the dark blue wind serpent or the new gray one.
And if it makes you feel any better, I'm going to tame the purple serpent on Fiona. :P
Also, lock jaw is a channeled pin, just like crabs. My main learned it the hard way.

Mmk, Fiona's report. :) She had Image.

Handily I was in Orgrimmar once again so a quick stroll out to the Barrens led me to one of these shortly.
Image

I seem to come across a lot of animals that look rather lonely, and this tallstrider was no different.
Image

She came around and I decided to name her Dumpling.
Image

So, looking at these guys...they are far more than just a plain, boring brown. Before I get to that, I'll start with some basics. Tallstriders are very proud, noble, and vain creatures. They're also very protective of those they choose to own. Yes, I wrote that properly. Tallstriders own you.

Anyway, on to a more in depth look at Dumpling. Let's start with the front.
Image
My she's gorgeous, isn't she? She has these amazing blue eyes and around her face and going down her neck is a very pretty light pink color and then a lavender color underneath the pink. These colors really bring out her eyes and her browns.

And look, even her feet have a lovely green tint to them!
Image

And look, from behind you can see the continuation of the lovely lavender stripe!
Image
Tallstriders are pretty solid models, their only major flaws are low res claws and the black feathering is 2-D looking.

Tallstriders run like ostriches which is rather fitting for them.
Image
They're also quiet by your side and making squawking noises in combat.

When they swim, they look adorable. They kick with those powerful legs, flap their teeny wings, and thrust with their heads.
Image

For combat, since Dumpling is a ferocity pet, she puts out good damage, and her special ability will come in handy a little bit once Fiona hits level 20.

So...I wasn't originally planning on keeping Dumpling because I figured one of the pink tallstriders would suit the cutesy, girly theme I'm going for on Fiona, but, well, like I said previously in my report, tallstriders choose you to own, and Dumpling's no exception. She'll be staying as guardian of Fiona because she feels that Fiona is an adequate pet.

Also, I apologize that Fiona's report is a little lacking...I'm falling asleep. Anywho, I'd like another please.

You cannot put this on autocast, so I ended up having issues in getting him to use it. I had a very small window to click it when it wasn't on his GCD and when I was able to click it, he usually didn't have enough focus for it. The only way I was able to get him to use it is if I cast it fairly early in the fight. As you can see in the picture. I definitely cannot micro-manage all my pets abilities, so I find trying to get him to cast this is more pain than it's really worth. Especially when I think about the times I would need him to use it.

After he threw the scorpid he also AOEd a beetle to attack him, I decided to let him tank and DPS both...and heal himself. All of which I was pretty impressed with. His tanking and his healing from talents was really quite nice. When facing one or two mobs, his health would dip a bit and then be brought to full, or almost to full. And his DPS made relatively short work of the mobs even without my help.

Since he is exotic, his other skill is Stampede, the 30% extra bleed damage for 30 sec...meh for me soloing, but nice if you have a Rogue.

As for the aesthetics, he is pretty quiet idling. In fact I don't remember him making any sound at all, but I'm not that observant. When he attacks he makes a few low grunting/snorting noises, but I don't remember them being too loud or anything. And in the looks department he isn't bad, I wouldn't say he's really awesome but he's not ugly. He has a weird look on his face; all the Rhinos do.
Good look at the model.

Summary
I like the model, besides the odd look on his face, and his swimming is cute. He doesn't make a lot of noise. Being exotic he has two skills; his Stampede is good for Rogues in group, and his Horn Toss is hard to manage. DPS, tanking and healing if speced properly are pretty good for soloing. I still currently have him but I don't think I should keep him from the wild for too long. I don't see myself using him :(
