Im on book 3 out of 7 now. Only have the dramatized adaptation and the voice actors are amazing.
It's about a humsn/half vampire Vampire hunter. It's surprised me. It's actually good so far.

I just finished reading the four stories (2 novellas, 1 short story, and a novel) by P. Djeli Clark, set in what is informally known as the "Dead Djinn Universe". He's a brilliant writer, creating very original urban kinda-steampunk-adjacent fantasy.

The books are set in an alternate Cairo at the start of the 20th century. 50 years prior to the story, an event happened that weakened the gap between magical realms and ours, resulting in Djinn and other supernatural beings crossing into our world, and Egypt becoming an advanced and progressive early 20th century power with the aid of migrating djinn. The stories are centred on an agency that investigates problems and magical and alchemical nature, in particular one young female agent who is something of an eccentric and thoroughly enjoyable main character. If you're after speculative fiction that has a focus outside of Europe and North America, chiefly on north African customs and myths, as well as having queer themes, this is a brilliant series.

In order, the stories and novel are: 'A Dead Djinn in Cairo' (short story), 'The Angel of Khan el-Khalili' (short story available online, here), 'The Haunting of Tram Car 015' (novella), and 'A Master of Djinn' (his first novel).


I'm now reading 'The Saint of Bright Doors' by Vajra Chandrasekera. It's so far altogether unique and wonderful.

Just Finished the first book of cresent city.. and WOW WOW WOW.. soo wow.. mindblowingly good. I heard the dramatized version and it just keept me entertained the whole time

Right now, I’m reading "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir, and I’m loving it. If you enjoyed "The Martian," you’ll probably dig this too. It’s got that great mix of humor and science that keeps you hooked.

Wain: I enjoyed A Master of Djinn and (thanks to you) the angel short story! And I've heard good things about The Saint of Bright Doors, will add it to my list.
Kawe: I've read both those Weir novels and liked them both, especially the main relationship in Project Hail Mary.
Ana: I read Andrew's Magic Bites and enjoyed it and also read the first novel of the Hidden Legacy series. It was fun reading a book set in my home town, but ultimately it wasn't my cup of tea--I'm just not a fan of the enemies to lovers trope.

I recently finished Mieville's Book of Elsewhere, based on Keanu Reeve's series of BRZRKR graphic novels. I haven't read those, and from what I've heard, I don't think fans of the comics would necessarily like the novel. I found it interesting, but I wouldn't recommend to any one except die-hard Mieville fans like me

Currently reading Jane Eyre! I'm familiar with the plot and think I at least read some excerpts in school, but reading it now I'm thinking I never read it all the way through back then. I've even read Rhys' Wide Sargasso Sea already

Book club -wise, we just read Kingfisher's House with Good Bones in honor of Halloween: mild horror story with an entomologist main character who I adore! This month's book is Nicola Griffith's Spear, a novella retelling the Arthurian legend of Percival. Recommend, like I do all of her works!

Gormanghaste - heh i really didn´t notice the trophe. For me it´s more of a fantasy book with some romantic elements - but yeah now i kinda see it. still think they very good

Reading the Innkeepers Chronicles by Ilona Andrews. Done with the first book and 1/3 left of the second book. So so so so so good. Highly recommend, i am listening to the dramatized audiobook version. Perfection.

Currently reading Little Women and rereading Sense and Sensibility.

For book club, Tidhar's Central Station. Sci-fi set in the middle east with a space elevator, aliens, and biotech. Really enjoying it so far.

Been reading "The Librarian's Vampire Assistant Series" by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. It´s a super funny series filled with laugther and suspence. I really enjoyed it. There are 6 books in this series
There are some romance but not in the first couple of books and the romance is not that hot, well atleast not in the 3 books ive read so far... it´s more like a funny crime series.. for now anyway. Can recommend the audio . I am laughing so much

On the last book in the trilogy - very very amazing books. Very captivating and interesting. Defo going on my read again list
