I did the diseased wolves as such, same with oiled wolf:

-tame & use macro once at below 2sec. left on tame
-try to tame something else?
-yes - try again
-no - log out / in & enjoy your new inky or diseased wolf

Same for fire boar, I tried tame normal, but he'd just die, even got to where he'd die just as tame went off but returned a normal boar, tried above method; though it took almost an hour or so, I got my flambe. :)

I think something we might be overlooking is: connection speed.
it might be that some of you have very fast connections, or very slow connections, which could affect when that macro gets sent.

every time I've used the macro, I spammed it, so obviously, there's no "only press it once" caveat.
I've been pretty lucky, it has worked almost every time on the first try.

therefore, what I suggest is, instead of absolutely waiting until the "2 second mark", you mix it up and try slightly sooner, or slightly later. Haste rating might also affect the outcome.

I had much better luck spamming ASAP rather than waiting. I couldn't get it to work until I started spamming almost immediately, actually.

Thank you so much for the video! After 3 tries I got it. My problem was that I wasn't taming and keeping one of the same mob as normal, and THEN taming another with the macro. The video made so much more sense to me than the guides did :)

I'm a bit confused though. It says in the list of confirmed pets that only those with their names in green will keep the effect after death. However, everyone is saying that if it's not a buffed effect and lasts through death on the mob normally, that it won't be wiped. The diseased wolf mob keeps the effect in death, but it's not a "green" pet on the list. Does anyone know if the effect would persist?

It's the same exact method that I linked on the first page, and I'm pretty sure I mentioned it here.

You first tame the pet you're after just like a normal tame, and then you dismiss it (not abandon). Then you attempt the macro tame on the next mob. Go find another mob, attempt a tame--if it lets you tame another pet, you have to try again, if you get the error message, log out/in and enjoy your new special pet.

Oh, I never did that  but somehow I still got 1 diseased wolf, 1 Princess but... oh boy Princess took a million tries.
Sigh, I will have to try that today, xD

I think you can do it both ways, but when I went after the Lone Hunter recently, I found it easier to do the method I linked on the first page.

Well.... interesting, and congrats on your wolf Corpsebryde! :)
EDIT: And oh yeah, I got the Lone Hunter using my method, had 1 fail before success.

I've spent 5+ hours trying to tame a ghost wolf on my hunter without a tame, then one day I got it on the first try. Went to tame on another hunter and 2 hours later I still can't get one. I can't figure out what I'm doing different but I'll keep working on it.
