I told Moderator to leave this open for now because I think it's an interesting subject in general. Another more general thread - say in Off-Topic Chat - might be a better place to open the whole can of worms, though. *hand on chin in classic thinking pose*

There are two sites that mimic Petopia proper that annoy the hell out of me. One of them uses 'Petopia' as a generic noun, which is just weird (and more than a little disrespectful to Brash, in my eyes, since their About page pretends that the real Petopia doesn't exist), and the other is *still* using the images off the old dark green Petopia as their own although I asked them to stop. (Blizzard owns all the actual pet data, of course, but we (players) arguably have some small claim on the particular images we generate.)

But neither of those other sites is up to date and neither of them has this community. And the internet being what it is, it's often just not worth it to bother.

Copying forum content is an entirely new beast to me, though - so to speak. As someone else in this thread pointed out, there's not a whole lot of point to it and it is very, very weird. It bugs me a lot because it's not someone copying a word or some images, but someone stealing your words. That's just not right. At this point it doesn't look like I'll need to take action, but I am glad that it was brought to our attention so we can handle it if we have to.

Yeah I think thats what bothered a lot of people....copying the forum word for word, even right down the topics themselves......thats just damn creepy.

Aye, and this was unfortunately not one of them. >_< On the plus side, once legal implications were brought into the mix, our attempted troll quickly backed down.

Hopefully whatever spurred this to happen in the first place has been resolved. And if it really was only a cry for attention, well, hopefully our anonymous forum thief understands now that there are better ways of getting attention.

Exactly. If we had had to actually take action legally... >.> well it would've gotten worse I'm sure.

Oh, I'm sure it was. No one else would care. As long as she understands how completely stupid the whole thing was, then hopefully she'll find a more constructive way of drawing attention to herself in the future.
