'Bigger' is kind of a touchy thing with hunter pets, as we've seen from the Kibler's Bits discussion. :P
It would be really neat to have your pet it's non tamed size for say 20 seconds or so. However I think people would complain about it.

lol yep Haters going to hate

That's honestly my feelings on the matter as well. It's a potential exploit and a haphazard pet in any situation regarding tanks/melee classes who've been taught from the very beginning of the game not to stand in crap. We're not 'hating' on anything, but having a more cautious outlook on it in general. It's got a lot of griefing potential, in my eyes at least.

Am I going to tell you what you can and can't tame? No, but I am going to say that using some cation with it might be better then thinking there is nothing wrong with it at all. If it had the mobs wrapped in fire, I would feel totally different about this, but it's not, so therefor I cannot say that I feel comfortable about this 'pet' at all and that's all a lot of us have been saying from the beginning. We aren't 'complaining' about anything.

And as far as the Ooze goes. From what I have read, I didn't start WoW until after that event, the ooze sounded more along the lines of legit taming. Blizzard realized it and was like 'Oops, our bad, but you guys can keep it as a reward for finding it before we did.' Same with the hydra and the grimtotem guide. This.....is a tame -trick-, same with several others and it just makes me uneasy thinking that something like this could end up causing more of a stir then we really know.

In the end, it's simply my opinion.

Thanks for the screenie.(:

I did tame myself Tanwen (and he exploded the first time, too!), and I do think it's absolutely incredibly awesome that I have a puddle of fire for a pet. I will not be taking him into any battlegrounds and I don't really do dungeons or raid, so I'm not too worried about that.

If something happens (and, if it does, can I please just have a red ooze or something? I'd be completely cool with a red ooze!), then something happens. Either way, I finally got myself a trick tame! For the record, this is the first one that I've liked that I have been able to complete. I missed the ooze and the hydra, which have always been the ones I really wanted (I wasn't a high enough level at the time). I don't care for the oil-stained pets. I missed the Ghost Wolf (only level 30 at the time). So this guy is pretty freaking special to me.

That said, I still would not mind at all if he became a red ooze.(;

And I like my fire. It's not an animal, but it doesn't lack personality. It reminds me of the hunter in the 'Away From Reality' comic who tamed a rock. Soloing old instances and saying "A little help, Fire?" is a lot of fun. :D If it doesn't last, then I've enjoyed it while I had it.

Myeah. I got the pet too, and I really don't see the issue here. It's just a pet, it's not a racial pet so the "slavery"-argument does not apply either. Infact, it's even targetable in PvP. (I accidently had him summoned out when I PvP'd. Yes now this may seem like a bad excuse, but I really don't pay alot of attention during PvP. It's the reason I always forget to switch presences on Death Knights to. But now I am paying more attention to it. )

I attacked someone with the fire once accidently and he got killed easily. So he really is targetable. After he died, I dismissed him. (which was also before I died)

Either way, I just have to say that some people here really annoy me. "It has no shape or form whatsoever, it's no hunter pet. Shouldn't be tamed. REMOVE IT BLIZZ!".

Just what do you care about what others have? Oozes may have a shape but they are nowhere near hunter pets themselves. They are puddles of ooze and other slimey substances. So those DO qualify as an actual pet? Do you really see someone with a puddle of ooze on a leash walking around Dalaran happily?

And before you bring in the 'shape' argument. The only real argument that suffices is the "it isn't a hunter pet" argument. And then the "the ooze isn't either" defense qualifies aswell.

Let people use what they want and if you don't like it.. then don't use it?

Blizz may fix it or not. We just have to wait, but don't be so spiteful to say; "Well I don't like it; so others may not like it either. TURN IT BACK INTO A RAPTOR". That seems just egotistical. Now I may seem rude and aggressive, but I really am not. I'm just trying to tell people to respect what others may like or not and leave people to value what they value.

TL;dr-- I love my puddle of fire and I want to stay, and it isn't nice that people want it removed just because they don't like it as a pet themselves.

I personally think you're reading the 'nay' arguments all wrong cause I never saw such things brought up, nor do nay-sayers necessarily hate the pet or dont want it. That's a really bad thing to start assuming.

Anyway, I personally think the topic should be locked now cause its going in circles.

Then that would be because noone elaborates properly on it, except for; "it has no shape. not a hunter pet". The only good argument was that it had a fire-effect that might be the same as a boss might use. (example: flames@Atramedes)

And tbh, you were the only one that actually tried to clarify that you had the pet and liked it. So yeah. Maybe you could understand that the implications are somewhat akin to bland and careless hate towards a pet.

But myeah. It's going in circles indeed.

Yeah. I'm probably a hypocrite to saying nay but still having it myself. I guess I'm like "It's a neat pet but I know it's gonna get hotfixed just cause of the clicking problem" and yeah, it doesnt have a shape but like you pointed out...its a weak argument considering the oozes arent beasts and technically have no solid shape either.

A hunter was trolling in Molten Front with one of these. I thought I was being attacked by the worms. Not to mention on a PvP realm, it's not so simple as saying "don't use it in battlegrounds". The entire world is one.

I do not see Blizzard keeping it, as it can be misused, has been misused in my direct experience. Corpse Scarabs were legit pets, but their size was problematic in some situations, so they grew. Boss Wasp models were problematic from being too big, and they were shrunk. And I don't know where the bargaining for ooze instead came from. It's a raptor. When it is restored to the shape it is meant to have, it's still going to be a raptor, more likely than not. If that was a running gag, all right. Otherwise, how is it Blizzard's fault hunters are exploiting the taming system to get things they are not meant to have?

The irresponsibility is with the player. For myself, I'm happy with what Blizzard actually gives me. I don't feel like going over Noah's head when they have busted their hinds to bring us legitimate awesome pets, not some Azerothian Missingno.

Only hunters. lmao.

well the same could be said for the ooze pet it was classified as a crock but it got to keep its original skin after it was fixed just like the fires are classified as Raptors/talstriders. The only thing blizzard needs to fix about this pet is the targeting issue.

Hmm, never thought of that issue. I don't play on a PVP realm. But I can clearly see that being a pain in the MF cause there is a ton of fire effects as it is.

The ooze is not a ground AoE effect. You can't trololol an ooze in a setting where fire=bad. Nor can you trick PvP opponents with your pet, because they will not be looking at ground AoE effects as targets. This is completely two different cans of worms here.

If Blizzard wanted us to have puddles of bad as pets, you would not have to snooker their taming system to get it. It is a cheat, an exploit, it is not working as intended, no matter how cool it may look. It is not a bargaining chip to get a whole new pet family added, nor is it really grounds to wail at Blizzard if they do not let hunters keep it.

Tame elements? Roll shaman.

actually no they are kinda the same thing, when the ooze was first tamable there where tons of complaints on PVP servers ( i should know cause i was on one) people where thinking it was some poison thing and not a pet. and its no more of a cheat and exploit then the ooze that happens to be a elemental or ghost wolf that happens to be a ability of a shaman so there goes your roll shaman theory :) . and it wont be a whole new pet family like the ooze and the hydra it will have the ability's of the class it was original ment to be

My thoughts exactly.

As much as I would love to see the already tamed ones being given a hitbox but otherwise staying the same, it is just not realistic at this point. I know nothing of making models into the game, but I'd assume it to be simply too much extra work to make this guy an invisible model of some sorts - all just to make a handful of Hunters happy.

I really don't buy the comparison to the slime to be quite honest.. The slime had an existing model and animations, and there was nothing iffy about the tame. All in all it was a fully functional Hunter pet that had an unusual model. This one has no actual model not to mention animations and to achieve it you'd have to use exact timing to get the glitch to work - plus as I already stated, the fire patch would have to be separately fixed to act like any normal pet.

Accidentally flagged as tameable =/= glitch tame

well then i guess all those oil stained wolfs and burning bores are an exploit and a cheat cause you had to tame them in the same timing way. We got people saying its a exploit cause of the way its tamed then we got people saying its an exploit cause of the way it looks and blizzard has let us keeps pets in the past that used these same glitches/exploits.
