Has no one suggested the obvious yet? Not sure if blizz has already decided to do this but:
Panda combat pets please!
Could even just reskin an existing bear model to be panda coloured. And I don't think it would be weird for a pandaren to have a panda pet, afterall, we have worgens with wolves don't we? ^-^

We already have two of those.
1. Vanilla wow collectors edition(I believe)
2. Pandaren Monk from the Blizz store

I think they mean a tameable hunter pet. I, too, would like to see a wild panda, but I have doubts that they'd implement one next to Pandaren as a race. Not impossible, I just don't see them doing that.

I could easily see someone getting the Monk pet for their pandaren monk character and playing it like apprenticing their child.

I would LOVE a tameable panda bear! Though blizz probably wouldn't do it :c
Maybe, since we have a panda bear cub as a minipet..?

Maybe if it is looked at like this: panda is to Pandaren what worg is to Worgen. Doesn't seem so bad in that light to me. /shrug

I'm surprised no one has suggested a spirit beast wolf with an apperance similar to Amaterasu/Shirinui from "Okami".

Could someone explain the multi-tail fox thing to me? I know they come from Japanese or Chinese folklore. But why are they so popular? There are plenty of interesting obscure folklore beasts the never get a second thought, but these seem to be some kind of holy grail. I don't get it.

Heh, lost right there with you Teigs. I'm guessing it's just due to the overall popularity of foxes and wolves in general perhaps. 9-tailed foxes are not only a recognizable beast, but they're often used as characters in games, stories, anime, etc. I can't say for certain though. The kitsune doesn't hold much appeal to me, but I'm not overly crazy about foxes in the first place, I'm more of a reptile gal. x)

Im rusty on Yōkai (japanese monsters) so correct me people if im wrong about Inari and kitsunes when i try to describe them..
.. Inari is a fox god which i believe is a god of fertility and good harvest, im not sure but i think she has respects paid to her during the autumn harvest. I also think her disciples or whatever, foxes, are messengers. The fox itself has been turned into this Yōkai that they can turn into humans through different means. one of which is to adorn the skull of a human. These kitsunes are like succubus' in which they lure men into forests and swamps and are consumed, never to be seen again. Fox fire and illusions are their mystical weapons.
The many tails i believe represent the extent of their power and possibly age. 9 tails is to my knowledge the most any kitsune has ever supposedly had, which deems them the most powerful and wise. As to why many wear masks, im not sure on that part. Perhaps its part of the illusion or maybe to help them transform between fox and human shapes or maybe a way of keeping a link between their forms, im sketchy on it cause i dont know but it may be possible that if a kitsune stays human too long, they end up trapped in their human disguise. The masks may serve as a tether to either allow them to freely change shape or remind them of their original shape so they dont become trapped in one form.
With Pandaren being based off chinese history and mythology, i dont think we'll see kitsunes unless Blizz decided to add them in, let alone contemplate putting a japanese Yōkai in chinese influence (there is known history that kitsunes are in other asian cultures such as chinese mythology so if they do appear, Blizz would have to some extent an excuse that way if they were going by real life mythology and not just adding it in cause they can, but japan has made a bigger deal about kitsunes i think which is why they're so affiliated with japanese culture)
Edit: Inari is the god of Fertility, Agriculture, Rice, Industry, and Foxes in japanese lore. I wanted to look that part up quick

Japanese Kitsunes can be to traced to China, Korea, or India folklore. So really there not a 100% japanese thing unlike what alot of people will tell you (these people being the "omg japan is the best thing in the world" types

) so they would fit in but I doubt they would look like the japanese version.
Anyways I think it would be better for them to use fully chinese folklore stuff it's not like they are not full of monsters! I prefer monsters from other asian cultures compared to japanese ones as I think there over used in western culture.

i knew they werent entirely japanese but more asian but japanese culture elevates Inari and kitsunes higher then everyone else, 1/3rd of the shrines in japan are dedicated to Inari which is probably why theres people who think kitsunes are japan only mythical creatures. Blizz will most probably put their own spin in a kitsune and several tailed foxes, especially to fit in the chinese theme rather then the more popular japanese theme. Regardless of origination i would be estatic to see a creature resembling a kitsune fox as a tameable mob, or even as a god as a nod to Inari

I want a Tibetan mastiff dog! They are the traditional dogs of Tibetan monks and hella ferocious.
That's a dog that will mess you up if you piss it off! But it is still loyal and gentle with its family.
