Yeah thats what I thought. More often than not, no one reported you for it or cared.

I tended to report people with names like ssackstasssser (ßackstaßßer - common Rogue name, usually used by people who refer to their class as "rouge" O_o )

Yeah I've report the first one. The 2nd one I wouldn't care so much but it is kinda annoying.

Generally I'd report anyone that had more than one alt-character. If you had nothing BUT alt characters, you got reported for sure.

Sometimes if it's a lvl 1, you can put a ticket in to get the name freed up. If the first GM doesn't do it, put in another ticket! They can release a name if it's on a lvl 1 room that isn't played.

Yeah. So they're basically telling other languages to GTFO.

That's why it's being restricted to US servers. This rule doesn't apply to non-US servers, as has been mentioned.

English doesn't use them, so in theory, it shouldn't be an issue on English servers.

Except Canadians play on the US servers.
And we speak both English and French - which DOES use accents.

No but really, I personally just want to know whyyy Blizz is implementing this. I mean ... couldn't people just continue to report offensive or stupid names that require a change? Or does the change exclude accented characters?

Thats what I thought. I don't want them to do this if its because people are lazy to use ctrl-click or copy/paste. Not that hard. Takes like two seconds.

At least I use one special character if I have to in my names. I love the name Himeko and it's taken on almost all the US servers I play on, so I had to use a funny "o" at the end, same with Mio and Chikane. I try my best to keep it at the end so that it doesn't make it too hard on people. Besides, I use the character map that is on all computers, so I honestly don't understand why people QQ about the characters, but then it makes me realize just how not everyone knows how to use their computers properly, meaning more than for just gaming.

Thats why there's the easy google.com to google "Accented Characters" then use ctrl C for copy and Ctrl V for paste.
