So I can have a brown tailless panda if I go male. The males are less cutesy too, so that's probably what I'll do.

You're not tailless. :3 You'll always have a tail. Just males will have a stubby tail.

Well blizz did state that the females would get to flaunt their long red panda tails at the males so its no surprise to discover the males get a stub tail

They allso said that only females got the red colour.
It was in the same blue post I beleave XD.

The flaunting tail comment wasn't a Blizzard post but rather a writer from WoW Insider that put it in their article.

Ahhk, i dont know where people keep digging up the info (since its coming from like a dozen sources at once) i thought it was a blizz person that mentioned it via an interview or something

Nope, just an article by WoW Insider on their initial coverage of the female pandaren:

You can choose to be a black and white panda, à la the male pandaren, or you can be a red panda. If you go with red panda, you get a tail! Black and white pandaren females don't get one; only the red pandas do. The tail is animated and looks great (and you get to lord it over the inferior male pandaren).
