Yup, it's totally personal preference. :) I don't mind the stance and posture while idle really, that run though, arrghhh. I've never liked it.

Both Cape of Stranglethorn in that gem cave.

Only Azeroth basilisk I could find that was tamable, but I only searched STV.

Gritjaw Basilisk, Hulking Gritjaw Basilisk in Desolace. Ambereye Basilisk, Ambereye Reaver outside Maraudon. All untamable.

Thinking most of the Azeroth model 'lisks are not enabled yet.

Reds in Hyjal are tameable, yellows in tanaris are tameable.

Just got ninja'd, heh. :P

The Tanaris yellow is the Glasshide Basilisk. The whites in the same zone, the Glasshide Gazers, are untamable.

Hmm...

Well, I like the longer body of the old model, BUT, I like the higher head of the new model. Just need colors...

The run bothers me, too, but I think I'll like it more with Quilen. What I didn't like about Worgs was how their head seemed to lower when they ran, and their butts went too high up- these, with their huge manes and big, high heads, look like they don't have that problem. Yay!

Tried to tame one of the red basilisks in Hyjal, said it wasn't tameable. Someone else tamed the exact one I tried to with no problem.
I went to outlands to check on those, found a fen strider...

Tsuki, try to tame the green ones. The blue ones work ok but i couldn't get the greens on the other side of the marsh to tame.

it helps to beast lore things before you try to tame.
so far only blues are tameable water striders. checking the others with beast lore shows up as not tameable and no diet

I tamed a yellow one, over in the dead mire, where the world is almost like falling into the twisting nether :U
The way their ability is worded, it seems like it should be able to work on yourself...

Ah, I've found some shenanigans with the Hyjal Red Basilisk: They are two different mobs in different phases of the zone.

The tameable one, from my premade with no quests complete, is id 39658.
The ones you're having trouble with is in a different phase, id 48724.
On my Hunter that has completed Hyjal, both are phased out.

Well, err... that's kinda awkward. :/

EDIT: Oh, and for completeness, none of the Basilisks in Zul'Farrak or Deepholm are tamable.

Redstone basilisk from Blasted Lands is tameable.
Dappled Stag from Crystalsong Forest is not tameable

None of the Shoveltusks are tameable at this time, so I don't know if they will be. :(

The bugs from MoP should be included in the family as well, there just currently aren't any flagged yet. xD Except the starter area ones which are impossible since you can't tame exotics at that level.

Probably not intended (but ooooh, pleeeeease?), but the water strider buff sticks to the hunter even if the strider's been dismissed.
