Oof, seeing the wings stretched out like that... those gaps are really awkward. My theory is that they have those so that the feathers line up better when the wings are folded. But considering that we stare at the wings more while flying, I really wish they had not gone that design route.

Personally I adore the new gryphon. I want the upgraded version in all the colors <3 The windrider had a HUGE upgrade, which looks really nice. But I think I'd still take the Gryphon over the Windrider, update or not lol

Sounds right, since the alliance NPCs at least are flying around on the gryphons.

Mmmph, I'm not entirely too sure about that fact. Although the new model certainly has less membranous skin between it's wings, unlike the older model, that membrane actually connects to it's body, allowing the weight of the wyvern and the force of the winds it needs to pick up to be diffused more evenly. The old wyvern would have a lot of force placed upon it's shoulders, whilst this newer model can spread it a bit more along it's torso as well. Sure, I'd love to see more membrane along it's body, but that could cause some clipping issues.

... Besides, I'm still working under the theory that these are fel-wyverns and that they're flying under demonic magic power. <_<

I pretty much agree with your other views though. Most of the details on the wyvern don't bother me personally, but I can see how they could irk others, and your thoughts on the Gryphon are very similar to mine.
Although, the more I look at the beak, the more I have to wonder if these new gryphs are part dodo. <_>

Most flying mounts wouldn't be feasible on Earth anyhow, since it takes a massive amount of musculature and wingspan to lift a significant amount of weight.

Realism is slightly a moot point.

Yeah, not a fan of those wyvern horns, or the horn on the gryphon's beak. But overall, I like the new detailed look of them. How can that cat fly with those horns.... >.<

You people are asking how these things can fly, but I haven't seen anyone question how the JC gem cats can fly.
