No, they were just decoration. The quests had to do with the elementals.

I love all of this... but I'm concerned:

I can never solo Vash. A 4 second cast time fear instead of 2 won't really do much. Her problem is how slow the tainted elementals spawn compared to how many elementals tend to reach her in the meantime.

I can also never solo Kael. He himself is not a challenge. The 4 adds however... can't even get past them.

And I hope to god the Lil' Bad Wolf is from ALL Opera events and not just the Big Bad Wolf. Playing RNG is one thing with drops. Playing RNG with drops AND getting the right opera is just mean.

EDIT: Nevermind on Kael. I did not see he does not drop one of the pets like people speculated.

Guess my only issue will be Lady Vash.

I'm sure you can get people to go with you, esp since you're on produmoore. that's a high pop realm.

It was. It was added when he became a pet; he was originally your basic Siamese. I happened to notice it. Screenshots in Wowhead correlate that.

I guess its only appropriate that I get the Filthling since it drops from Quivering Filth.

I'm totally naming my pet filth 'John Larkin'. Because 'Scatman' is probably restricted.

The robot companion is based off of the mascot for the company Bad Robot. This is made evident for a lot of reasons, including how it looks just like it, the name of the companion (as said by wowhead) is Worst Robot, and on the back of it it has what looks like a ICEE, which the Bad Robot mascot is often depicted drinking. It might be some sort of promotional item like the battlebots from Mountain Dew. But it could also just be a reference.

eh, my companions are mostly pokemon named so... grimer, muk, gulpin, swalot, trubbish or Garbodor for my oozy pets.

I have one thing to question:

When hunters tamed a Worgen, it was deemed inappropriate.

But now they add a Worgen companion pet. I feel confused.

We also have the Winter's Veil themed gnome companion pets, as well as the Argent Tourney squires (orc and human), and Peddlefeet the goblin. There is such a thing as reading in too much.

It's giving in to allowing you to have a worgen, but NOT allowing you to let it fight and die for you... unless I am glitched, I know my squire/gruntling etc cannot fight in pet battles. They can ride alongside me, I can use them for RP, I can have them as a luck charm, but I cannot command them as a master. I think that mental difference is the key-- they are there but you don't "own" them, per se, eliminating the sticky "owning another humanoid" concept.

I hope this means the chess event will become solable somehow. Though its such a cool event it'd be kind of a shame.

To that end, I'd like to see a soloable version, but if you bring more than one person, you get the original event.

Did they change the Chess event? I was soloing it back in Cata. It has been a while, but have they made it unsoloable since?

Ah, it's been a while since I've been that deep in Kara alone; I can't recall whether it was changed when you stopped needing raid groups for old raids or not.

I soloed it like 2 months ago. My first try. My first time in Kara since BC only using my memories.

Just move the pawn in front of the King forward then hop in the king. The pieces take care of most of them. They fixed his "cheating" that was broken and spammed every 5 seconds.

I remember when I was soloing it, it was subject to luck and a bit frustrating, but doable. I just followed some youtube strat so it is possible I was doing it wrong. Check out youtube though!
