I can see why it wouldn't work for horde using Aquillian method, unless when you throw the meat at the puppy it draws agrro, or its phased
.... That said, I'm sure someone in my guild secretly has an alliance somewhere who has yet to do the quest
That said, I am getting a little concerned about my stables, it's kind of full of pets that I really love and could never replace... This is gonna be a hard choice if i want this puppy...

I just sent you in game mail.
I still have it. Maybe there's a way that you can trap, I throw meat and you tame. Worth giving it a shot.
Send me a message back.

I'm sure I have a bunch of toons who haven't done this quest on Dethecus, actually. I might have to quest a lil' to get there, but should be doable.

Hi Fabi,
How'd you do it? Did you find an alli that was able to start it for you? I'm currently trying to ask someone on the alli side for help. Silvermoon server.
Thanks!

Amazing! Now to try and troll Nagrand EU alliance until I get help
Has anyone attempted to bring it into arena yet and see if the debuff is cleared? (Or is it a buff when it's a pet O.o) I know this was supposedly the ONE thing that wiped Garwal's worgen form.

It shows as a buff, along with TSA, Heroic Presence and the like. I'd like to know the result of bringing into Arena, though I'm not up for testing it myself lol. I have work in the morning and have to level him to 80 before bed so he's ready for raiding.

Testing completed!!!
I did everything I could think of and it's official through all they keep the oil soaking.
In dungeons /arena /PvP, including heroics
Dismissed and called back
Killed, revived
Changing pets
In /out of the stable
Logging off
Logging out of the game completely
So without a doubt it's permanent!!!
I also named my boy B.P. (hope you catch the pun)
Happy hunting. He's very cool to have!

I actually named my screenies BP wolf hahah. I was thinking I would name him that back when he was first spotted tamed a few weeks ago, but decided on a more permanent name, although his nickname is definitely BP haha

My hubby saw pictures of this on here and really liked it, so it looks like he and I are going to try to get one for him.
My question is, do you freeze the wolf BEFORE throwing the meat? And at which point do you begin the tame? I've heard seven seconds, so does that mean your tame cast has to only be seven seconds??? Or is it once he's out of the ice block, you then have an additional x amount of seconds before the debuff wears off? I'm a little confused as to how to go about this.
Thanks!

Thanks SO much for this post!!
I'd been trying for hours and hours over the last couple weeks but had settled in the end for Haarka. When I saw this I immediately logged my low-level alliance alt and started asking in trade, and in whisper to everyone in Borean Tundra.
"Can I ask you a weird question..."
I had one guy tell me no, because I'm Horde; several others had done it or weren't interested, or didn't know. Eventually one person told me they weren't sure, proceeded to ask me about the quest chain, then went and DID all the prequests for me! She told me not to worry about gold, but mentioned she wanted a port for her Horde alt to go to Dalaran. I have a mage so happily agreed, and I did give her 100 gold in the end as well. It only took three attempts, I think. Aquillian's little guide was -exactly- right.
Threw a freezing trap a few paces in front of the wolf; the kind ally threw the meat, and the wolf ran toward her into the trap. With my haste, I waited until there were just under 6 seconds left on the trap before I tamed, and on the third (or fourth?) attempt, the wolf vanished. I was disappointed at first, as again (like with the first couple tries) the oil had vanished just as the wolf despawned. But lo and behold, when I called pet, there he was in his shady black glory! For the record, I apparently have 11.77% haste in that gear set. (Edit: forgot to mention, mine too, when recalled for the first time, was on Aggressive!)
A big thanks to Aaliyah of Nagrand EU for helping me with this, with all her stupid-'o-clock a.m. patience and kindness!
Yes, I abandoned Haarka for him. Maybe Haarka will get fixed, or this wolf will; no use guessing, though. And if they both stayed rare/hard to get, I prefer the wolf in the end!
Further edit: To explain exactly how the tame works, since I was somewhat worried about asking an ally to come help me without knowing the full details...
* You throw a freezing arrow/trap down a few paces in front of the wolf.
* You or your ally friend throw the meat to the wolf from about 7 yards or so.
* The meat-throw turns the wolf neutral, and it runs forward into the trap.
* Wait until ~6-7 seconds left on trap, and hit Tame.
* When the trap breaks, the wolf will continue running to the person who threw food, then stand still for several seconds before turning, running for 1 second or so and despawning. The goal is to have the tame end JUST as the pet despawns. Too soon and the pet will lose the buff; too late, and the tame will not finish. With 11.77% haste on this gear set, I timed my tame to begin with just under 6 secs left on the trap.

I laid the trap down in front of me a ways(he runs up to you when you throw the meat, try it once to get the distance) then threw the meat and hit potion/tame right as he turned neutral. I'm sure the other people here have some other insite as to how they did it without the haste.
And no problem about the post guys! If I ever find out rare pet stuff, yall are definitely the group of people I want to share it with. I less than three you!

By the way, has anyone tried having an enemy purge/dispel the wolf? I assume it won't clear the buff but I'm afraid to assume "too hard."
