An old acquaintance of mine would like to have a word with you. He's known as the Son of Arugal. He used to love griefing lowbies all the time. Admittedly he was more wolf than crab, but he was certainly crabby!

I also seem to have heard about a whale shark with a narky attitude that's moved in after the cataclysm...

(Do I need to remind anyone of the !#^(!*&^@#!% Fel Reaver in Hellfire?)

Maybe the Nerfbat ability will be removed before Cataclysm launch, and is a fun ability just for now, but the mob stays in...or maybe the ability is their answer to people who love pulling spirit beasts off the hunters trying to tame them and killing them.

Totally /popcorn worthy! Even without the nerfbat, the 1.5million health would make it a laugh!

Whoo - after sitting in the area with my 81 Hunter for a couple of hours I started chatting to another hunter QQ'ing about how boring the area is etc when the penny dropped - couldn't tame him at that lvl - so went & got my Lvl 85 Worg Hunter - got him his sea legs & went down the the area, set track beasts & 10mins later there he was the fabled 'Ghostcrawler' - easiest tame ever - I was also listening to Mania on the OUTDPS! Podcast at the time - wish it had been while you were on so I could've PM'd the show to say thanks!!
Looking forward to Cata going live to run round gathering all those great new pets waiting for us

I can't help but wonder if this crab has some manner of amusing loot on it.

Seems like it would take a sizable group of people to kill, with the stacking damage and healing reduction debuff the Nerfbat applies.

The fact that the nerfbat ability goes away when you tame leads me to believe that there's a chance it will stay. And the loot will be amusing, like a nerfbat training sword..

I'd try to kill it to see its loot lol. I like seeing what rares drop.....

Speculation that this form is temporary before the shiny new art goes in seems reasonable to me.

Oh wow, you weren't kidding... He hits like a truck and a lone player can hardly even scratch his shell. XD Seeing as there was no way I could ever kill him, I tamed him instead.

I sincerely doubt that Ghostcrawler himself had anything to do with this mob, tbqh. Just because it's an homage to him, it doesn't mean it was his doing. A spirit beast crab has been talked about before by players.

Love him, hate him, his name is apropos for a spirit crab.
