I myself am a self professed Spirit Beast/Rare Skin addict. Last year I played and retired a NE Hunter on Hellscream...within a span of 7 days between Christmas and New Years, I managed to tame all four spirit beasts. During the next few months my marriage began to take a turn for the worse and I abandoned playing.

Cut to this past October where I'm a month out from finalizing my divorce when a good friend got me to make a hunter again for Cataclysm. Reluctantly I figured it would be something to do that could take my mind off of things.

Needless to say the "itch" to start collecting rare skins was piqued when Blizzard gave us tons of stable slots...how great. The drawback now is that EVERY hunter will chase the beasts for trophies only. The competition became much more fierce.

When I was in my mid 60's I decided to try for the white ape in Un Goro...after waking up one morning and logging into the cave...there he stood and became mine after a short tame (again...THANK YOU BLIZZ!).

Next I was leveling into my 70's when I took a short break to camp in Grizzly Hills for a certain Spectral Bear...my hopes quickly faded at the sheer VOLUME of fellow beast masters waiting for him. Needless to say I continued to level on.

Turning 76 was the official start of this run as I decided to just throw caution to the wind and fly around Netherstorm to find....(queue NPCSCAN)..NURAMOC....wow after all these years the purple freak was mine!

Feeling lucky I hit Shalozar in force with no luck with ANY of it's residents. The moment I hit 77 I mounted up and flew to Troll Country...looking at familiar colored boxes on the map for a mystery ghost tiger. Flying to the first spot on my circuit NPC scan decided to go off and there she was waiting for me...this was Tuesday 11/16.

Feeling groggy for a certain blue electrowolf I ground my way to 80 that day and flew right to "the button". Luckily no hunters were there before me and any that came by were very cool. For the next few hours I did ransoms for gear and points popping in to see if he would show. Dejected I was clicking on the logout screen when again...the scariest mod this side of the Mississippi went off and there Skoll stood as if to say "take me with you?"...so I did. This was around 2AM on 11/17....which was also the day I was to be divorced a few hours from then.

After returning from court being free but very sad I buried myself in running randoms for hours when a fellow hunter friend told me she just saw Arcturis tamed at 3:50pm server time....reading his spawn time was anytime from 8-21 hours....my newborn freedom decided to say "Marathon Camping Time"... at the 20 1/2 hour mark from the last tame I was sharing the spot with another hunter buddy of mine who already had him. Exhaustion and depression set in big time and I fell asleep at the keyboard with WOW hiding in windowed mode behind a Firefox window (if NPC scan was to go off...I wouldn't hear it), so I awoke to a number calling me that I didn't recognize but answered to a screaming male on the other end. "Paul! What are you doing?! He's right on top of you!!!". I almost dropped my laptop but managed to tame him without trouble. Monk now is my new see-through Grizzly. This was Thursday 11/18 at 2pm.

Feeling very charged I told him I'm going to to a quick sweep through Shalozar for one of the big three. Coming to the end of my circle at Nessingwary camp NPC scan pulled a Kramer and scared the shit out of me again. There was Loque...a mere 15 minutes after his big bear brother joined his other ethereal siblings. An AFK hunter was flying above him. I have a snooze you lose attitude and stole him from right under his nose only to find out the guy went AFK to make a sandwich. If I had to do anything the day I camped Arcturis...I carried my laptop with me...you can't be serious about this without dedication!

Well that's my story about the spirit beasts but I also grabbed Aotona that night...then today, I was roaming around Shalozar looking for the giant Yoshi T-Rex to no avail when I got a tell from a rogue who spotted him, I dropped down shaking, threw my trash pet at him...saw the fear, abandoned him, tamed..done. Terror Spinner became mine same day I saw Gondria.

Now I must sleep...

So right before the latest patch came out (Patch 4.0.3b) I made sure to park myself right in Ashtail's spawning spot in Loch Modan. Every hour of Tuesday I checked to see if the servers were up even if they said they'd be running and ready to go at 5pm. I started checking at 11am all the way to 3pm which was when the servers were up. Logged on was in graveyard, ran back to the spot, no one was around (surprisingly, perhaps because everyone was waiting for 5pm which is when people started poring into the server), waited not two minutes and Ashtail appeared right before my eyes. I am absolutely positively sure I was the first to tame him on Dragonmaw. Because I checked every hour if servers were up and running. And his respawn time is every two hours. Now if (most certainly unlikely) someone tamed him before myself, Ashtail would not have been there and it would have been impossible because servers weren't even up and running any time before then. I explain this to every person I talk to about my little Jacky (that's what I named Ashtail) and they don't believe or even consider me being the first to tame him on live. So here is my explanation and should make alot of sense to any of you guys reading this. I wonder if the game keeps records or records the activity of rares and who at what time tamed them. Of course insufficient data but still programs do things regardless haha. How do you think GMs and other employees get players gear back when they get hacked? From recorded activity ;D

Ashtail was the first new pet I tamed in Patch 4.0.3b as soon as he was tamed I hearthed to Dalaran, then a mage ported me to the new and awesome Orgrimmar and showed off Ashtail. Got several whispers. Felt good to be the only one in my server with him for two special hours haha I hope they change it to the norm 6 hours, loses its "special-ness" the more common a pet gets, my personal opinion.

Anyways, here are some pictures of the new pets I tamed from this new patch. The Oil Stained Wolf I tamed two weeks before the destruction of Azeroth but decided to add him in here since I'm so proud of him.

I was smart enough to tame Shadowclaw before he moved & changed skins incase he was going to be camped. I saw no signs of camping, but have the beauty anyway. Loving the saber model. <3

A day after the Cataclysm I took my main hunter down out of Sholazar to Loch Modan in an attempt to tame Gosh-Haldir. I waited about 20 minutes when a friend of mine came on. We were planning on playing our new characters together, but she was playing with her siblings. So, being annoyed at that and instead of going to sleep like I should have, I waited around for Gosh to show up. About 15 minutes later, she showed up. I was glad then that I didn't go and play with my friend, otherwise I'd have missed the lovely green Croc I have now. She now sticks around with me when I'm camping Loque, since that bugger has yet to spawn for me. xD;

How did I miss this post. Someone from my own Server! Rare thing here.

Here is my collection of rare pets. I spent all of last night traveling to the spots where I tamed my pets and took screenshots of them in their 'natural environments'.
