Harvesting seems to be giving good exp again...I'm getting 4-5 nodes per bubble of pet exp today again as a maxed herbalist flying around Storm Peaks.

Yeah cause having some honest to goodness worries about EXP gaining for pets is bad? And what about those of us who aren't going to get Cata the
day it released, hmm?
But it's nice that you think we're all acting like it's the end of the world, Gimlion and Saturo. And no one ever really answered about lowbies and dungeons as I've not managed to get Rosalyn into a dungeon lately [long wait times QQ].

Lowbie dungeons reward just as much XP as before. But if you REALLY want to level your pets, just do it the good-old-way, and kill some of the Heroes in Icecrown.

But that's not my point. Even in a raid you do just fine with a 77 pet, since it's a VERY low part of your damage. And as for BM, well, I feel safe to say that having, what, 2% lower damage for THREE. DAYS. won't make a difference. AT. ALL.
Doesn't matter her sex or the amount she raids, does it?
She wants some pets to 80. Her choice, her playtime. And I'm pretty sure there's a lot more than just 2% lower damage. Shark Attack talent alone adds 3/6% to pet attacks, not to mention a severe drop in hit rating for the pet, reducing procs for both you and the pet, etc. Not really a smart move telling hunters on these forums that raiding with level 77 pets is perfectly fine, that's leading them down a pretty poor path and just perpetuates bad reputations of Hunters, be it three days or 30 days.
And is there something wrong with wanting a level 80 pet to level with in Cataclysm?
But it's quite nice of you to dismiss how somebody wants to level their pet. And here I thought these boards were for hunters to support eachother and offer GOOD advice, not provide poor information and be completely dismissive.

Wait harvesting nodes gives pets exp..?
My wife's second hunter, at level 74, can kill a normal mob and get ~950 xp.
If she harvests a plant, she gets over 4,000 xp.
Yeah, it's quite nice. No XP is awarded to pet, however, from my checking 5 minutes ago.

Provides a level 79 pet 83 xp pet kill.
No better than killing level 75 mobs (84 xp) in Sholazar Basin or anywhere else. Slow is slow.

I'm not saying it's okay raiding with a lowbie pet, but it's TREE days. It doesn't matter in that short time period.
If you knew me, you'd know that I'm not here for any useful advice. i'm here to be a target for everyones hate. Fun, definitely.

Indeed you are correct. Went to my wife's toon and tried it on her 74 hunter with 71 cat and herbing net her 4304 xp and her pet 2439 xp.
Killing a level 75 mob yielded 1139 xp to the pet.
Very nice. I wonder why the other hunter's pet didn't get anything. ><

I tried outlands on my dorf Harp; I mined fel iron, checked Fox- nada movement for EXP. Obviously this is a Northrend only feature or perhaps probably a glitch- not that all my hunters have gathering proffesions on hellscream but I digress.
And guess I know what I'll be doing on Rosalyn. Yay. Meat farming. Yay leather farming. Anyone got any suggestions where a lv 77 can grind then? As I don't want the Basin.
I'm sick of the Basin.
Rosalyn's dreams have been eternally crushed by the basin.

Well I guess theres nothing we can do about it. No point in freaking out since whats done is done, and the cata dungeons will prolly give good xp so thats good. My only thing im unsure about is how fast they will level. Sasrei is my raiding hunter, she'll prolly get to 85 first but my raiding guild probably wont take to long at all for enough people to hit 85. And with more and more possiblities of doing 10 mans rather then 25 mans, I guess I will have to do my best to level the pets needed asap. As long as the dungeons work for your level IE doing cata dungeons will give you good amount of xp for our pets, then thatll be awesome ^.^ I know questing is a great way to get xp for you and pets but once I hit 85, itll be pretty quickly ill get into raiding again so there are quite a few pets who need to come along with me.
And I still will have to level Saon to 85 as well. But it looks like shell have to chill until I get specific pets to 85.
Well the one thing is, atleast I wont be as bored as I am now

I dunno, I've been getting exp (on the toon) for old world skinning and mining, as early as Elwynn...my only engineer/hunter is caught in a bit of a situation with her stuff tho, as she's been handed ore far above her level and has excellent mining, while being in a zone on the low end of her abilities.
Translation...it's all way below her, both skill and levelwise, which seems to hork things...everything Lyrothea's been tackling was yellow/orange. 80 hunter, 77-79 pets, icethorn and lichbloom galore, occasional frozen herbs in ZD. So far my helboar and tan fox both got very sizable chunks of 79 this way, and my beryl hound, Zangar firefly, and ZD wind serp have gotten some here and there also.
Fortunately, I have a small scribe to soak all these herbs, eventually...not that I'll be getting around to her very soon.

No you're supposed to be getting EXP from mining/herbalism now [if you're getting exp from skinning something is bugged and you need to ticket it, as skinning wasn't supposed to be giving exp afaik as it never did/never was supposed to on the PTR], what I'm saying is below northrend content it seems that nodes do not reward exp to pets. So if it's happening in northrend it is either A: northrend/cata only rewards or it is a glitch for nodes to give pets exp. I need to hop onto Ryai to test this out later.

Ryai, a good place to camp meat/skins is the Area by Dun'Niffelem, where the Jormungar and Mammoths are...

Those beasts are level 79-80, so it may prove a tad tricky when your pets are level 74

Wait, I thought Ryai meant 77 for her pets, not herself. If she's 77 herself I take back my statement... xD

Ontop of being a Phased place- meaning until Rosalyn gets it unphased to have the mammoths/worms, it's full of elites who'd readily smish her.
Guess I'll just get 2 pets and try to dungeon scrawl Dx
and yes Gimlion; Rosalyn is lv 77 with a majority of lv 74-75 pets.

Ah, sorry, I wasn't sure which hunter you were talking about *I'm a poor reader sometimes*...
In which case, I'm not really sure of a great place to level your pets, sorry.

My L.80 hunter just went around Storm Peaks mining and the L.77 pet never gained any XP from it.
I am guessing that once you hit 80 and quit getting XP from gathering... then your pet gets none too. I am curious if the hunters under L.80 is what is causing this pet XP from gathering to happen...
