Hmmm, I guess I'm somewhat a jerk because I like pets other people are "jealous" of or grab attention. My personal favorites include:

Terrorpene (who doesn't want a lava turtle?)
Sambas (OMG those eyes!)
Oil-Stained Worg (I get so many compliments on him)
Flaming Armored Boar (So many "having ham tonight?" messages).

I really only ever use Cat/Wolf for Raiding and Turtle for solo'ing bosses. I have a Raptor (the green one--I named Yoshi--special i because name was reserved or w/e) if we have no sunder armor people around but rarely use him.

Other pet types really don't grab my attention. If SV could use Spirit Beasts I'd use the ghost wolf one--probably my favorite pet skin. I managed to tame 3-4 of the fake non-BM version but I never use because he loses ghostform upon death. :(

Cats.
Definitely cats, just like in real life. I'm the Crazy Cat Lady.
I owned every cat model tameable so far. Yup. Every. Single. One. Granted, not all at the same time, but that still was a LOT of cats. Biggest amout was I think 8 or 9 at once. But since I needed more room in my stables, I had to reduce this to three, so currently I only have Sambas, Echeyakee and Rak'Shiri. I deemed them the hardest to obtain from the ones I like the most, so they're staying.

I like Spirit Beasts too, I caught them all and I'm very proud of it, but to be quite honest, I only really like Arcturis, Gondria and Loque'nahak. I don't plan on releasing any of them.

Oh, yeah. I adore boars, too. You can't tell by the look of my stable, but they and warp stalkers are my favourite tanking pets. I don't really have an urge to tame them all, but I love that OINK! they do and that idle animations, they look so eager! So terribly cute!

Ok, toss in Madexx as a weakness. He's not a family as I don't really like the other model but Madexx himself is a weakness for me.

My crippling weakness is boars and warp stalkers. I know there's not much use for tenacity pets in a group PvE environment, but I can't bring myself to get rid of my engineer's bomb-sniffing boar, Torque.

I grabbed the lavender felboar in Blade's Edge as well and named him Maevis(Maevis Bacon - er, Beacon. Get it? Hee.), and was pleasantly surprised to find he matches perfectly with the Devout set that I put together a while back. We're such fashionistas. :D

I grabbed a teal/purple warpstalker at the request of my best friend when we were out being silly in Netherstorm, and named her Peaches. I had a white one named Cream for a while as well. When Gezzarak became tameable I had her as Mezz for a while, but I dropped her and Cream in a stable cleanup. Peaches changed colors and is now the red warp stalker from Blade's Edge. :)

I used to be really big on wolves as well, but that was pre-Cata pet changes where I was forced into needing one. I had a Vargul Blighthound named Vince(of ShamWOW fame), a Thunderlord Dire Wolf from(surprise!) Blade's Edge named Umbergore(who seems to have been the only pet I've ever named with serious roleplay in mind, hah). I have a black wolf named Spider as well.

I don't usually play BM, but Karoma is growing on me. I've lost her once before already though, so I'm thinking about waiting it out until the hype dies down before I try to tame her. I camped for Ghostcrawler simply because I never see him used anywhere, and the poor guy deserves so much more attention. I love how he's invisible under Camo. :D

Chimeras are rapidly becoming one of my favorites as well. I've managed to keep it simple so far, since I grabbed Nuramoc on a whim during a Khorium mining run, but I plan on getting that gorgeous tan one in Azshara as soon as I can.

My weaknesses when it comes to pets has to be the demon dogs, cats, scorpids, shale spiders, and wasps. Funnily enough, off-game, I'm downright /petrified/ of wasps but in the game, they're just so... cute! Scorpions are one of my absolute favorite bugs in real life so that carried over to the game and I don't really need to say anything about my love for cats.

I've wanted demon dogs to be tamable for forever and a day, and I was so happy when this finally came to pass in Cata. Toph has almost every color of demon dog out there and I am /not/ letting any more of them go for anything. She ended up dropping her decrepit darkhound for Sambas at the end of last year and said darkhound now has a home with a hunter alt of mine.

Shale spiders became a weakness when I obtained Tyris, my Jadefang. She was /the/ rare I sped leveled through Cata content for and the one I camped hardcore for. Her squeaks instantly won me over and I eventually reunited her with her baby, and that's something I'm never doing again because I felt /so bad/ about killing the rare for it.

I really like the seagulls. Something cool about ripping people a new one with a screeching bird ,as well as being very, very small and can be hard to lock onto in pvp for other players. The sounds it makes are unique among regular birds too and adds some charm.

Still digging my spirit beasts, the haunched tiger is pretty cool. I am pissed off about the mobility bug with dash using cunning pets. I really wanted to use my new green serpent in its full glory. I hope that bug is fixed soon.
