Wow, I pretty much knew that a goat would be the VERY last thing I would tame.... but if they had one like this, I would seriously have to try and find some room in my stables

Very Secky!

I'm glad you liked the goats, thank you :)

I wasn't so happy with the green one because it looked a bit oversaturated, especially the eyes. I tried a second one that is still obviously green, but much more conservative:

Olde Worlde Basilisques

Old world basilisks are easy to produce colours for. Any colour goes, afterall. But they're a pain in the behind to keep testing. Because there's separate files for the body and the crystal "crest", you have to copy them over the top of files for already existing colours so that WMV will stick the two together. As far as I know there's no way for an outsider to edit the model directly so it'll combine body and crest colours at a whim. :/

Anyway, here's a range of colours I generated. I hope amongst them you find something appealing :)

And sorry for the huge number. At times I had trouble culling them. Every time I tried they just looked at me sadly.

First of all a few dark variants, purple, brown and olive green. The latter looks like a creepy-cool swamp basilisk :)

A plain blue, with striking bright yellow crest. The in-game blue is a kind of blue-green so I went for something truer. With a blue crest it looked kinda bland though, so I went for a bright contrast.

A pair of bright copper-brown 'lisks. The chartreuse crest is unconventional but I found it somehow appealing. The yellow crest is more of a routine fit.

Four greens. I went for tropical jungle colours on the first three. The red crest is rather garish, but I did that deliberately. Like one of those bright tropical flowers that clashes against the foliage. The final green is a more conservative all-green.

Three indigos. All of them have a different appeal. I think the white crest is my favourite, though. I initially intended to use the white crest for the dark skin (from the top of this post) but I think it looked better on this one.

And finally, still in the purple theme, three magentas. Contrasting blue, all-purple, and fuhlaaming:

Heee, they gave you the sad eyes? xD

I actually kind of like the first indigo. x_x And the green and red one looks a bit like Christmas! xD

Rudolph the red-nosed basilisk!!

Also, that black and purple one looks rather badass... And this is coming from someone who dislikes old world basilisks.

Thanks :) I was aware going into this that more people seem to prefer the Outland ones. So I know I'm in a minority in preferring these :) I always found the Outland ones to be a bit monochromatic and "clean". Beautiful in their own way, but I prefer the complexity of the old ones :)

I really like the blue and white one it makes the hair look more like crystals. I have no interest in taming any in game, but if that one were there I would defintely.

Agreed. I really don't like old world basilisks at all, but this blue and white one is really pretty.
I MIGHT be tempted to get Rudolf too...love the bright, vibrant red!

Edit: In fact, Wain, would it be possible to create an equally violently red basilisk but maybe with a darker coloured crest, like black or dark blue? I'd love to see something that RED.

I think I'd actually be tempted to tame this one, and I don't really find the old world basilisk models appealing. I really love the colours on this one.:)

So, strong red body and dark crest? I'll give it a go. I didn't end up creating any proper red ones; the red I made weren't all that nice and I just never bothered chasing them further. The one you describe sounds pretty good though :)

Are these anything like what you wanted? :) I tried a lot of albino ones tonight, but I never got anything as bright and vivid as I was aiming for. They were all a bit dull. These two (pink face and grey face) were the best I could do. I'll have to try again. :)

Yes, a really strong red with a dark crest sounds really lovely to me. And that red you managed on the crest is the sort of vibrant red I wish we could get in-game on red animals, I love it. I appreciate the efforts, and can't wait to see what you come up with!

I think you toned down what drives me the craziest about the old world basilisks with some of your sets, Wain. To me, the old world basilisks have no right being so garish in color with their (to me) ugly faces.

But soothing their color schemes really brings out the best of their features. Instead of HOLY COW BRIGHT YELLOW, I can actually appreciate the detail of the back fins.

Of course, the clipping of the head fin is going to drive me nuts on both models...but since I'm unsure of how much I'm actually bonding with the new Pygmalion, I'll have to keep the old world basilisks in mind, no matter how much I prefer the Outland model.

TL;DR: I've been thinking and I think you have partially converted me, Wain. xD
